Farming is OP
Chapter 22 Level fifty, new skills

I was close, I was level forty-nine and I knew I was nearing a level up. Every ten or so minutes I would stop working to open my status and check to make sure I hadn’t leveled yet. Finally, sometime after lunch, I reached the benchmark level.

STD Immunity- Gain immunity to sexually transmitted diseases.

Comfort zone- Increases health, mana, and stamina regeneration by 100% while on the farm.

Elemental affinity- Choose an element. Earth, Water, Wind, Fire, Lightning.

Jack of Jack of Jacks- Increases bonus by another 10%

Sexual healing- Regenerate 25% of health, mana, and stamina from having sex.

Don’t think about it- The lower a person’s intellect the higher your charm up to a 100% bonus.

Monocrop- Increases the rarity of a single crop by 100% while decreasing rarity by 25% for everything else

Polycrop- Increases the benefits of planting multiple crops on a single field, 10% per symbiotic crop.

Magical field- Increases the odds of developing a magified crop. Pouring your mana into the field to increase the chances even further.

Magical specialization- Choose a specialization. Offense, Defense, Healing, Support.

Specialized Jack- Pick a tool, skill, and job to double the proficiency bonus the jack skills provide

Well rounded- Gives a permanent .25 bonus to all stats.

Family man- Wives gain an additional 10% stats through the symbiotic bond. Children born inherit 10% more stats.

Elite golem- Gain knowledge on how to create an elite golem. This golem has 500% of the stats of a normal golem. (Can only create a single elite golem)

Bodyguards- Declare a golem as you or any of your family's bodyguards. That golem will get a 100% boost to stats while protecting that person.

Mini planter golems- Gain knowledge on how to create mini planter golems. Passive golems that will allow you to more easily transport plants.

New!

Child rearing- Children brought up on your farm have their statistic adjustment set 10% higher, gain job experience 10% faster, and have their resource regeneration increased by 10%.

Inheritance- Your children are more likely to inherit a bonus skill or proficiency from you.

Baby boom- You and your wife gain a .1 bonus to all stats for every child you have.

Parental bond- Once your children reach adulthood, they gain 5% of your and the mother’s stats

My eyes went wide as I looked over the skills. I heard that fifty was where you gained the skills that could fundamentally change how your class worked, but it was surreal seeing them. I was likely not going to reach level fifty this year again, if I did, it would be very near the end of the year. I skipped over all the ten and twenty-five-level skills and looked at my real choices.

Some were cool, but didn’t provide the same benefits as the practical skills. The first three were all linked together again. I could only choose one out of Monocrop, Polycrop, and Magical field. My eye went to magical field right away, but at the same time… Polycrop could add up tremendously over time. If it boosted every crop on the field, not just ones helping other plants, it would be my go-to pick, but the plants had to have some symbiosis between them.

Offense was red, while defense and healing were yellow. Only support was green for the magical specialization. Even knowing that, I still might pick healing. Healers were just that rare. Elite golem, bodyguards, and mini planter golems were also linked, and I could only pick one. The choice came down to did I wanted a tanker golem, which I knew would cost far more and if it died, I would have made the skill useless, go for more protection, the more family members I had, or go for the money-making/saving skill with mini golem planter.

The final additional skills I gained were from having a child, even though it wasn’t born yet, my skills were preparing me for parenthood. Baby boom and parental bond are the only real choices, as the other two aren’t level fifty skills, so I can pick them up once I reach level ten and twenty-five again. Parental bond can wait a long time, but baby boom is something I have to look out for, perhaps next time I reach level fifty.

Child rearing also provided a statistical stat adjustment, which was extremely rare. Stats weren’t static; two people with four in agility wouldn’t equal out to the same speed, as stats didn’t factor in the difference in the person's body. Even then, a person with a four in agility could run faster or slower for a variety of different reasons, and that’s why every single person in the village was getting more out of their stats even if they didn’t go up in the past six months.

The fact was, the food I was providing was increasing the overall health and making every single person more than they were. It wasn’t obvious at first, but even after I reset all the way back to level one, I would still be better than I was when I first started out as a farmer. The improvement was about twenty percent, but when some people had a five or six in a stat, that added up tremendously.

The statistic adjustment was just that, they would gain ten percent more from each stat. So at four strength, they’d gain forty percent more than someone else would from the bonus the stats provided. It wasn’t a lot, but it added up, and like with most things, it was a snowball effect. More benefit from stats, plus more experience toward jobs, plus resource regeneration meant they could work harder for longer, increasing the experience they’d gain in the same time a normal person would.

Out of all the skills, the one that I was looking at the most was well rounded. That .25 bonus might not seem like a lot, but thirty percent of those stats would be given to my wives as well. Eventually, after I gained the other stats linked to the bond skill, the bonuses would add up tremendously. Baby boom would provide an even bigger boost over time, but that wasn’t until the children were born.

Well rounded was boring, but it would let me reach fifty faster than I could before. It was whether or not I wanted to take the risk now. Did I go with well rounded and risk reaching fifty before my children were born… Or did I go with family man and guarantee my children were born with more stats than they would have naturally? The choice boiled down to being selfish to provide more safety or picking the family option and hoping nothing bad happens.

The risk just wasn’t worth it in my eyes. Sure, I could possibly level back up to fifty, but if I didn’t, I would be stripping ten percent extra stats our children would be born with. Everything else could eventually be purchased and provide the same bonus, but that was the only one that came with a time requirement to buy, or the children born before would miss out.

I take a deep breath, purchase family man, and get back to work. I could still get well rounded before the children were born, but if I didn’t, it wasn’t the end of the world.
