Chapter 53: Exclusive Supply by Gongshu Zi
Chapter 53: Chapter 53: Exclusive Supply by Gongshu Zi
Although these fish were worth quite a lot, Han Qiwu never once thought about selling them through real-world means. First, he needed system Gold Coins, and second, there was no need for it.
He caught fish, ate them himself, sold the leftovers at the trading post to earn system Gold Coins, then went back to the sea to fish more and sell those again for Gold Coins.
Where else could you find such a good deal?
When he arrived at the blacksmith shop, Han Qiwu walked in brimming with confidence.
"Boss, crack open the crystal spheres!" Han Qiwu leaned against the counter and laid down a dozen or so crystal spheres from his pocket.
This was the imaginary scene.
"Master Shuzi, may I trouble you to open these crystal spheres for me?" Han Qiwu carefully arranged the crystal spheres on the counter.
This was the real scene.
There was nothing he could do about it. The sight of Master Shuzi swinging his hammer, as big as a human head, sending sparks flying was intimidating enough to make anyone act this way.
Obedience came naturally.
Han Qiwu had a decent haul of treasure chests from his fishing trip today. All of them contained crystal spheres—seven in total.
Master Shuzi grabbed the crystal spheres and smashed them randomly, draining 200 Gold Coins from Han Qiwu’s account.
Ouch!
He had completely forgotten about this expense!
If he had known, he would’ve waited until tomorrow to come back!
Counting his loot, he ended up with three pieces of coal, one amethyst, two pieces of copper ore, and one piece of iron ore.
Opening crystal spheres was always like this—random bits of everything.
"Three pieces of coal! Looks like today was the right day to come," Han Qiwu said, pleasantly surprised. With no other sources of coal available, three pieces meant three copper ingots.
When he inspected the amethyst, Han Qiwu placed it on the counter.
[Sell amethyst for 150 Gold Coins?]
"Yes."
Turns out you could sell minerals here too.
Han Qiwu tested the selling prices of the other minerals and found they were all sellable, generally priced around 100 Gold Coins each.
But he was reluctant to sell the ores and ended up keeping them all.
As he exited the system’s sales interface, Han Qiwu was surprised to notice that the interactive menu at the blacksmith shop had changed.
[Upgrade Tools]
[Open Crystal Spheres]
[Master Shuzi’s Specials]
He clicked [Master Shuzi’s Specials], and two items popped up.
Loyalty-unlockable fixed items:
[Basic Feed Box]: The feed box in the yard can convert work-generated waste into feed, with an upper limit of 50 portions per conversion.
[Materials Required: Wood (26/100), Copper Ingot (0/1), Money (2541/2000)]
Weekly refreshable items:
[Magical Wooden Bird]: The wooden bird can help transport items.
[Materials Required: Wood (26/1000), Money (2541/5000)]
[Note: Master Shuzi can turn decayed wood into something magical.]
Refreshes on Sunday
Han Qiwu’s eyes instantly lit up.
A feed box, friends!
With a feed box, he wouldn’t need to buy feed anymore, which, if you rounded it up, was like saving a billion!
In that moment, Han Qiwu no longer wanted to attend any evening activities. All he wanted now was to rush home and chop wood.
As for the Magical Wooden Bird, despite its high cost, its functionality was impressive.
Not only could it transport supplies from home, preventing the dreaded scenario of starving in the mines, but it could also bring mining loot back home.
Magical. A must-have.
A true master craftsman indeed—turning simple wood into something this extraordinary.
"Master Shuzi, I’d like to learn the art of forging from you," Han Qiwu said as he approached the counter.
"Sure, follow me," Master Shuzi replied, as if he’d anticipated this. He handed an apron to Han Qiwu.
Han Qiwu put on the apron and followed Master Shuzi into the backyard.
"Do you have anything in mind you’d like to forge? Keep it simple. I’ll teach you how to make it," Master Shuzi asked after turning around.
Han Qiwu thought for a moment. What he wanted most was a sprinkler, but he lacked the materials, and the complexity was too high. After some careful consideration, Han Qiwu had an idea.
He would forge a portable shield.
Something to block the attacks of mine rats when delving into the mines, easy to carry and stow away while moving forward.
Han Qiwu shared his idea with Master Shuzi, who nodded with a smile. "Not a bad idea, but improving your combat skills should be your top priority."
That said, Master Shuzi still picked out two pieces of copper ore and began forging. Han Qiwu took out the two copper ores he had just obtained from the crystal spheres and joined in.
Two hours later.
Han Qiwu slumped into a chair, thoroughly exhausted but brimming with joy.
[Leg Hair Protector]
[Attributes: None]
[Note: True warriors have no need for such items.]
The so-called portable shield consisted of three rectangular copper plates connected at 150-degree angles, positioned just at the height of Han Qiwu’s calves.
"It turns out the items I craft myself are recognized by the system and can even be named!" Han Qiwu thought with delight, completely unfazed by the sarcastic note in the description.
Every strong person grows step by step!
After stowing away the Leg Hair Protector, Han Qiwu sincerely thanked Master Shuzi before leaving the blacksmith shop.
Time to eat—he was starving.
Back home, Han Qiwu made himself a meal of grilled eel over rice, paired with pan-fried parsnips. The meal left him thoroughly satisfied.
"As long as the ingredients are fresh, even the simplest cooking methods can make for a delicious meal!"
Checking the time, Han Qiwu grabbed his axe and headed out to the small grove.
"For Master Shuzi’s Specials! Let’s go!"
"Chirp chirp chirp chirp!"
Four little chicks suddenly appeared out of nowhere, trailing behind Han Qiwu and chirping endlessly, as if cheering him on.
"Perfect timing! Behave yourselves and head back," Han Qiwu said, setting down his axe and scooping up two chicks in each hand, placing them back in the sycamore coop before closing the door.
Chicks: "???!!!"
We were cheering for you, and you locked us up!
"This should prevent any mood penalties," Han Qiwu said with satisfaction as he picked up his axe and continued chopping wood.
By 6:40, Han Qiwu rode his bike to the barley field.
Back at home, he hadn’t felt the festival vibe, but once outside, the town was full of brightly lit lanterns, fields aglow with paper lanterns, carousel lanterns, pumpkin lanterns held by children, and the occasional burst of fireworks in the sky, accompanied by cheerful voices all around.
What a splendid Lantern Festival scene.
At the barley field, Han Qiwu saw that many townsfolk were already strolling about. The field was divided into two sections—one for various stalls selling goods, and the other for different mini-games.
[Happy Lantern Festival! The Vegetable Heist Battle will begin at 7:30 PM]
Seeing the announcement, Han Qiwu became even more curious. What kind of game was the Vegetable Heist Battle?
Glancing around, Han Qiwu didn’t spot anyone familiar. Since there was still time, he decided to wander around and see where his money should be spent based on some life hacks.
The mini-game area was bustling with activity. Many people were playing ring toss, with live chickens, ducks, and geese as prizes instead of other items. The game was challenging but came with high rewards.
After glancing at the animals and confirming they weren’t system-generated, Han Qiwu moved on to explore deeper. The area featured everything from riddle-solving and lantern-stepping to Yuanxiao-making and sugar-figure molding.
Unfortunately, none of them had the system’s distinctive glow.
"Strange, so where am I supposed to spend this money?"
