Chapter 200: Chapter 192 The Little Prince’s Tooth Extraction Story
After entering the yard, Han Qiwu was about to call the Little Prince over to ask what was going on, but when he looked up, he realized the guy was already rushing toward him.
Once it reached him, the Little Prince plopped down on the ground, pitifully clinging to Han Qiwu’s leg and looking up at him with watery eyes.
It looked utterly heartbroken, and its face seemed unusually swollen today.
"What happened to you?" Han Qiwu asked, a bit concerned.
"Ah!"
The Little Prince opened its mouth wide, pointing to its right cheek with a finger while groaning in pain.
"Got something stuck in your teeth?"
Han Qiwu took out a flashlight and carefully inspected its teeth one by one.
It didn’t take long for him to figure it out.
On the right side of the Little Prince’s massive mouth, the sixth tooth from the back was covered in large black decay, and beneath it, there was a tiny white tooth sprouting.
The Little Prince had a cavity and a new tooth coming in?
Quite a complex situation.
No wonder the Little Prince was so frustrated, and even its appetite had barely increased.
Turns out it had a toothache.
Imagine not even being able to eat delicious food. How miserable must it feel?
"This is what happens when you don’t brush your teeth at night! Look, now you’ve got cavities!" Han Qiwu sighed.
Little Prince: "...."
If it could talk, it would certainly retort: "Which bear brushes their teeth at night?!"
Meanwhile, Little Shui was being very considerate, softly cooing and comforting the Little Prince while holding its paws. Next to them, Xiao Lai was using its soft belly to gently massage the Little Prince’s swollen face.
"Alright, alright, stop crying. Wait for me a second." Although Han Qiwu scolded it, he actually felt quite sorry for the Little Prince. Even with a toothache, it had managed to cut wood and carry wild vegetables back today.
Such a good boy.
Han Qiwu pulled out his phone and called a friend who studied veterinary science. Before long, he had an answer:
"Pull the tooth."
Removing the rotted tooth would also make room for the new one to grow.
Two birds, one stone.
"Little Prince, don’t be scared in a bit. I’ll help remove your tooth. It’ll be gentle, not painful at all," Han Qiwu tried coaxing the Little Prince with some honey but quickly hesitated, worried that it might irritate the cavity.
Wait a second!
Something felt off.
Han Qiwu frowned at the Little Prince, thinking quickly:
The Little Prince only ate vegetables.
The fibers in vegetables acted like natural toothbrushes, cleaning away most residue. Logically speaking, it shouldn’t get cavities.
Unless...
This rascal had snuck honey or some kind of sweet treats.
Han Qiwu examined the Little Prince’s paws and mouth carefully.
There were no traces of honey.
Forget it. He’d sort out the issue of sneaking sweets later. First, he needed to pull this tooth.
As for the method, Han Qiwu already had several ideas popping up in his head.
The Door Slam Method.
The Bow and Arrow Method.
The Bull Horn Method.
The first option, the Door Slam Method, was the most common. All you had to do was tie a string from the decayed tooth to a door handle and then shut the door abruptly.
The key was to make sure you didn’t mess up the direction of the door slam, or you might end up breaking someone’s nose instead.
The Bow and Arrow Method was a bit more dramatic. You’d tie the tooth to the arrow with a string, then shoot the arrow—if all went well, the tooth would take to the skies for a bit.
Let’s give it a shot.
Five minutes later, the Little Prince was staring at Han Qiwu with a bruised nose and tears of betrayal in its eyes.
Feeling mildly embarrassed, Han Qiwu chuckled awkwardly, "I have a backup plan. Let’s try again."
While he hadn’t gotten the angle wrong earlier, he hadn’t accounted for the fact that rural wooden doors tended to bounce back.
No tooth extracted, but the Little Prince’s nose nearly flew off.
Trying the Bow and Arrow Method didn’t prove fruitful either. Han Qiwu had to admit defeat.
He didn’t have a mystical crossbow to work with at home.
It was time to deploy the ultimate weapon.
Han Qiwu led the Little Prince to the entrance of Jilei Mountain, quickly tied the other end of the string attached to the decayed tooth to a young ox’s horn, then untied its reins and set it loose.
The moment the young ox exited Jilei Mountain, its gaze landed on the Little Prince with its mouth wide open.
How dare you!
So what if you’re bigger than me?!
In an instant, the naturally competitive young ox felt fired up.
With one glance at the Little Prince, it spun around, trotting quickly away to build momentum.
But just then, the Little Prince, overwhelmed by the pulling pain, instinctively began chasing after the ox.
Before Han Qiwu could intervene, the ox turned back and noticed the Little Prince running after it.
Oh, you’re chasing me now?!
Think you’ll catch me?!
The young ox suddenly dashed forward at full speed.
It was lightning fast!
"Pop!"
At the sound, Han Qiwu looked up and saw a decayed tooth gleaming under the moonlight as it sailed through the air.
Kind of poetic, really.
"Roar!!!!"
Freed from its torment, the Little Prince let out a triumphant shout toward the sky.
"Stop yelling and get over here so I can stop the bleeding!" Han Qiwu called out to it.
"Mmm!"
The Little Prince obediently ran over, opening its mouth for Han Qiwu to clean up the mess.
It could already feel a wave of relief washing over it.
After finishing the cleanup, Han Qiwu gave the Little Prince a piece of medical cotton to bite down on, adding, "Don’t eat or drink anything tonight. Hold out until tomorrow, and I’ll make some porridge for you."
"Roar!" The Little Prince nuzzled against Han Qiwu’s face affectionately before heading back to its den to rest.
Meanwhile, the young ox, now standing at the far edge of the wasteland, looked utterly confused.
What happened to that massive bear?
Where’d it go???
And the humans?
Why is no one paying attention to me anymore?
Under the moonlight, the young ox suddenly felt a bit cold... a bit lonely.
Maybe I should just head back to the barn. At least there are three other cows I can pick on there.
Having thought things through, the young ox quietly trotted back to the barn.
Watching the whole ordeal unfold, Han Qiwu chuckled to himself.
"Yang Yangyang spoils these animals too much!"
The trees need chopping. The ox needs managing.
Time to get chopping then.
Walking up to a tree, Han Qiwu pulled out an ancient bronze axe and swung it forcefully at a normally sized tree.
"Clang!"
A deeper cut appeared on the trunk compared to before.
Not only that, but Han Qiwu could clearly feel reduced recoil from the axe.
"This thing actually works amazingly! Tomorrow, when I make some more money, I’ll upgrade my hoe too." While continuing to chop, Han Qiwu daydreamed happily.
Money makes everything easier!
Grind, grind, grind!
After chopping down four or five small trees, Han Qiwu deliberately approached a tree he previously couldn’t fell, swinging the axe with all his might.
"Clang!"
A shallow cut appeared on the massive trunk.
"So tough? I’m guessing this’ll take at least 20 chops." Han Qiwu did a quick estimate, ate two raspberries for energy, then resumed chopping.
"Clang, clang, clang, clang!"
After five minutes, an exhausted Han Qiwu leaned heavily against a nearby tree, panting hard.
[Hardwood]×2.
"Just two pieces of hardwood? So did the ancient bronze axe’s special effect activate or not?" Han Qiwu muttered to himself, unsure since it was his first time chopping large trees and he didn’t know the typical drops.
"Let’s try one more tree!"
After replenishing himself, Han Qiwu took a deep breath and went back to chopping.
This time, on his final swing, the ancient bronze axe suddenly emitted a dark greenish-blue glow, which flashed briefly before being absorbed into the falling tree.
[Hardwood]×4.
Did the special effect trigger?
So large trees normally drop just two pieces of hardwood, huh.
Delighted, Han Qiwu picked up a piece of hardwood, closely examining it under the moonlight.
The hardwood was noticeably darker than ordinary timber, with a faint reddish hue. It felt solid and had a satisfying heft to it.
Just looking at it, you could tell it was material worth utilizing.
Onward! Let’s grind!
The goal was to gather enough hardwood for the oil press by the end of the night.
Half an hour later, a worn-out yet giddily excited Han Qiwu was chanting, "Special effect, special effect," as he swung his axe to bring down yet another giant tree in front of him.
"Boom."
