Chapter 196: Chapter 189: Snow Armor Component II
Han Qiwu walked over, gently plucked each one, and tucked them into the storage compartment.
According to the requirements of the cultivation cave, four wild drumstick mushrooms could occupy four cultivation slots.
Plus the three wild flat mushrooms from earlier.
Seven cultivation slots were now neatly arranged.
"But the variety is a bit lacking, only two types." Han Qiwu put away the drumstick mushrooms and continued searching for a while.
Unfortunately, by the time he dug out the staircase to the next level, he still hadn’t found any other mushrooms.
After glancing at the time, Han Qiwu decided to pause his search for mushrooms and copper ore.
It was time to dig for iron ore.
Returning to the first level of the mine, Han Qiwu re-selected the fiftieth level and, after a quick search upon entering, headed straight for the staircase.
[You have arrived at Mine Level 51]
As soon as he stepped in, Han Qiwu spotted two wild vines and one wild yam at his feet.
"Not bad, lucky start."
After picking up these unexpected finds, Han Qiwu glanced around.
Iron ore veins, rocks, and jadeite.
No snowmen and no mushrooms.
Fine, let’s start digging.
Two and a half hours later.
Han Qiwu once again stood at Mine Level 54. During this stint, his haul was pretty solid—he had collected over sixty iron ores and nine jadeites.
"Whew whew."
Before Han Qiwu could get a good look at his surroundings, he heard the sound of a projectile slicing through the air in the distance.
Instinctively, Han Qiwu froze on the spot for safety.
"Bang!"
Old ice slammed into the rock wall three meters away from Han Qiwu.
"Not bad, not bad. Improvement noted! Work a bit harder, and you might actually hit me someday." Han Qiwu raised his hand and mockingly clapped for the Snowman Captain.
Clearly, the Snowman Captain wasn’t feeling appreciative. With a wave of its snow paw, the four snowman minions behind it charged forward one after another.
Han Qiwu didn’t idle either, switching to his mysterious light crossbow and firing a mystic crossbow arrow straight at the lead snowman. Meanwhile, Xiao Lai attracted the Snowman Captain’s attention. Han Qiwu figured he could try luring the snowmen away and sneaking back to open that treasure chest.
That chest was obviously full of goodies.
If it directly gave a complete set of snow armor, wouldn’t that be sweet!
"Splat!"
Xiao Lai obediently spat a venomous glob directly onto the Snowman Captain’s head, slowing its already sluggish movements further.
"Snowman Captain, how about handing over the other parts of the snow armor, and I’ll have Xiao Lai teach you how to throw properly?" Han Qiwu taunted while manually loading fishbone arrows into his mysterious light crossbow.
Unsurprisingly, the Snowman Captain remained unmoved, hurling another chunk of old ice at the rock wall five or six meters away from Han Qiwu.
"Still throwing wide, huh!"
"Watch and learn."
With that, Han Qiwu raised his hand and shot a fishbone arrow at the snowman closest to him.
[Rip]
"Swish."
The fishbone arrow ripped through the snowman’s kidney area, punching a hole through it and scattering snow everywhere, leaving a gaping hole in its kidney region.
The snowman, enraged at the sudden destruction of its kidney, promptly dug out a small snowball from its stomach and hurled it at Han Qiwu.
"Why the rush, you don’t even need this thing."
The snowballs’ flight speed couldn’t keep up with Han Qiwu’s slipper-gliding speed, hitting nothing but rock walls and creating clouds of snowmist.
"Nice ambiance."
After ten minutes of teasing, Han Qiwu finished off the snowman with a backward slash.
[Enhanced Snowman Essence]
[Use: Material]
[Value: 600 gold]
[Note: A material dropped only by elite snowmen, rumored to enhance certain items]
"That’s it? Elite snowman? Is this really how the Snowman Clan selects their elites?" Han Qiwu picked up the [Enhanced Snowman Essence] disdainfully.
It wasn’t a part of the snow armor, but at least it was usable.
Even if it were sold directly, it’d fetch 600 gold—couldn’t complain.
Feeling pretty good today, Han Qiwu intended to kite the remaining elite snowmen for more loot.
Last time, he only had six fishbone arrows left, just enough to kill one. This round, he still had over twenty, plenty for the job.
Twenty minutes later, Han Qiwu aimed his crossbow at the final elite snowman while Xiao Lai kept the Snowman Captain slowed.
The last two elite snowmen had dropped more [Enhanced Snowman Essence]—still no sign of the snow armor, leaving Han Qiwu a bit deflated.
"Hurry up and drop some snow armor already!" Han Qiwu muttered as he pulled the trigger. The fishbone arrow shot straight into the elite snowman’s forehead.
Headshot!
The elite snowman instantly dissolved into white light, leaving behind a translucent white component on the ground.
"It actually dropped! If I’d known, I’d have wished harder earlier." Han Qiwu excitedly picked up the loot.
[Snow Armor Component II]
[Incomplete, cannot be equipped]
[Base attributes unlocked (2/2)]
[Base Attribute: Immunity to heat damage while walking]
[Enhanced attributes not unlocked (2/4)]
[Note: The drop rate of snow armor components increases as more components are acquired]
Snow Armor Component II looked quite similar to Component I. Comparing them side by side, it seemed both were parts of the right half of a semi-armored suit—Component I covering the upper right and Component II the lower right. Together, they could be assembled.
With two components now collected, the base attributes of the snow armor were revealed.
Casually glancing at the base attributes, Han Qiwu felt a bit amused.
So without snow armor, walking in certain places would actually cause heat damage?
Looking down at his slippers, Han Qiwu found it oddly reasonable.
If you walked across lava in slippers, it’d definitely burn your feet, wouldn’t it?
"This base attribute is undeniably handy—immune to heat damage while walking. These few hours were worth it." Han Qiwu happily pocketed the snow armor components. "If the base attributes are this useful, imagine how strong the enhanced attributes must be."
And the snow armor drop rate? Pretty generous, really. The more components you had, the higher the odds.
Way better than gambling in pay-to-win mobile games or collecting Water Margin cards from raccoon noodles.
Glancing back at the lone Snowman Captain, Han Qiwu decided to sneak around and attempt a box raid.
If he couldn’t grab anything, he could always take the staircase and escape to the next level via the cable car.
Two birds with one stone!
Utilizing Xiao Lai’s slowing venom and the speed bonus from his slippers, Han Qiwu quickly looped around the Snowman Captain and returned to its previous guarding spot.
The area featured four treasure boxes, five wooden barrels, and a staircase.
"Let’s start with the treasure boxes." Han Qiwu sprinted to the boxes, choosing the largest one first.
These boxes were all made of ice, varying in size—the largest being half the size of a person, and the smallest akin to a shoebox.
As Han Qiwu knelt down to open the box, he noticed a small ice lock hanging on it.
[Please unlock before opening the treasure chest]
Han Qiwu: "......"
Looking at the other treasure boxes, they all had similar locks.
"Seems like defeating the Snowman Captain is unavoidable." Han Qiwu sighed, turning toward the wooden barrels.
During the earlier kiting, Han Qiwu had managed to sneak in some attacks on the Snowman Captain. Although fishbone arrows and mysterious crossbow arrows inflicted decent damage, the cheating tactics of the Snowman Captain were simply absurd.
Every time Han Qiwu dealt damage, before the mysterious light crossbow’s reloading cooldown expired, the Snowman Captain would flop down and gulp mouthfuls of snow, instantly healing back to full health.
Looks like he had to wait until he acquired better gear to take it down.
