Chapter 188: Chapter 181 Peaches and Apricots!
Before entering the secret realm, Han Qiwu first turned all the materials he had on him into fishing bait. Once everything was thoroughly prepared, he stepped into the secret realm.
[Today’s allowable stay time: 0.5 hours]
Oh, come on.
Just half an hour?!
Han Qiwu felt a bit helpless, and could only hurry to the spot where the crab traps were set.
Speaking of which, this was his first time coming to the secret realm at night. The starry sky in the secret realm was much brighter than in the outside world, and the ocean was teeming with glowing creatures. Their green and red fluorescence flickered intermittently, giving off an air of mystery.
"Once I level up fishing to five, I’ll try catching different fish in the secret realm." Han Qiwu muttered to himself as he ran toward the spot for deploying the crab traps.
He searched around but couldn’t find the fixed line for the traps.
Hey? Where are my crab traps?
Where are my eight huge crab traps?!
Looking back through his inventory, Han Qiwu finally realized that all eight traps were sitting quietly in his storage compartment.
Aw, damn it, I took them out last night intending to place them by the river, but got distracted and forgot.
Oh well, it must be fate. Might as well just deploy them in the secret realm now.
Eating mantis shrimp isn’t a bad idea anyway.
After setting the traps, Han Qiwu quickly climbed onto a nearby reef and cast his fishing rod three times.
His luck was pretty good today—just when the last three minutes were ticking away, he caught a swordshot fish.
gold, straight to his pocket!
After selling the swordshot fish, Han Qiwu exited the secret realm.
Glancing at the time, he stayed at the shoreline and fished for a little while longer.
Fishing really is addicting.
Just a couple of casts earlier didn’t quite satisfy him.
Ten minutes later, Han Qiwu grinned as he stored the newly-caught eel in his inventory.
Together with the eel, he also reeled in the most ordinary type of treasure chest.
[You obtained a treasure chest]
Upon opening the chest, Han Qiwu discovered two seeds inside.
[Peach Tree Seed]
[Planting Season: Spring and Summer]
[Fruit-bearing Season: Spring]
[Growth Time: Takes 30 days to mature, produces one peach daily post-maturity]
[Watering Interval: No watering needed]
[Remark: The peach tree seed will randomly grow into one of eight types of peach trees]
[Apricot Tree Seed]
[Planting Season: Spring and Summer]
[Fruit-bearing Season: Spring]
[Growth Time: Takes 30 days to mature, produces one apricot daily post-maturity]
[Watering Interval: No watering needed]
[Remark: The apricot tree seed will randomly grow into one of three types of apricot trees]
"Fruit tree seeds?" Han Qiwu exclaimed with surprise. He had never expected to find fruit tree seeds in a fishing treasure chest.
What sort of logic is this?
"Peaches and apricots? Both happen to be my favorites." Han Qiwu happily started examining the seeds’ attributes.
Their properties were straightforward.
He could plant them now, and they wouldn’t even require watering.
However, these fruit trees had longer growth cycles compared to crops. They needed a whole month to mature and could only produce fruit during specific seasons.
"Looks like I’ll be enjoying some delicious treats come April." Han Qiwu stashed the seeds away, deciding to plant them as soon as he got back. "I wonder what kind of peaches and apricots they’ll grow into."
Time for more fishing!
An hour and a half later, Han Qiwu stood up and stretched his muscles, satisfied but still wanting more.
Though he hadn’t managed to fish out any more fruit tree seeds, he hooked four crystal balls in the meantime.
After setting aside two eels, Han Qiwu sold the remaining fish.
No need to specifically save fish for Little Shui anymore—it had grown up and could now catch fish for itself.
[Through trade, you gained 2142 gold]
The harvest wasn’t bad; time to head home and rest.
Upon arriving home, Han Qiwu was greeted with a notification about foraging spoils.
[Hunting pet: Little Prince has returned from foraging. Fullness increased by 84]
[Foraging spoils: Crab Flowers ×4, Raspberries ×3, Wood ×55, Osmanthus Tree Sapling ×1, Spring Wild Vegetable Seeds ×3, River White Grass ×1]
[Little Prince has ended foraging in a good mood]
[Fishing pet: Little Shui has returned from fishing. Fullness increased by 72]
[Fishing spoils: Small Crawfish ×3, Smallmouth Bass ×2]
[Little Shui has ended fishing, feeling rather pleased with itself]
Not a bad haul.
Pets that you train yourself really are different!
"Found River White Grass?" Han Qiwu took the grass out of his inventory. Its blades lacked fuzz, its stem had ridges, and those ridges were lined with barbed thorns—it looked pretty sharp.
"Good job." Han Qiwu walked over to Little Prince and rubbed its big furry head.
It felt nice.
Little Prince didn’t say much this time. Instead, it quickly trotted to the hive nearby, acting like it wanted a taste of some honey.
"Got a sharp eye, huh." Han Qiwu chuckled. "Don’t rush—there’s still some time before the honey gets produced."
"Roar!"
Little Prince obediently nodded, gesturing enthusiastically at the River White Grass in Han Qiwu’s hands, as if to say that it was incredibly hard to find and pick.
"I got it, I got it. Once the honey is ready, the first batch is yours."
After soothing Little Prince, Han Qiwu turned to scoop up Little Shui and rewarded it with an eel.
Maybe it was just habit—Little Shui only fished by the river, so it could only enjoy sea fish when Han Qiwu fed it.
Upon seeing the eel, Little Shui chirped happily, grabbing the fish with its two big paws and eating it slowly.
Once Little Shui had settled down, Han Qiwu stood up and glanced around the yard, finding a suitable spot for the two tree seeds.
After tilling the soil, he tossed the seeds in and covered them up.
Now all that’s left to do is wait for some fruit.
Growing plants that don’t require watering is such a blessing.
It’s a pity the seed shop doesn’t sell fruit tree seeds yet—otherwise, Han Qiwu would’ve bought lots more.
After planting the fruit trees, Han Qiwu noticed that the first batch of spring wild vegetables and their accompanying wild grasses had already matured. Some of the vegetable leaves had even been eaten; upon closer inspection, there were traces of torn leaves on the ground.
Han Qiwu didn’t even have to ask; he knew it was Little Prince’s doing.
The vegetables were one thing to eat, but why was that bear eating grass?
Why was it fighting Little Red for food?
After giving Little Prince a stern talking-to, Han Qiwu walked to Jilei Mountain to fetch Little Red, letting it graze on wild grass outside.
It was Little Red’s first time outside the cowshed, and it seemed shy, obediently lowering its head to nibble on wild grass while ignoring the nearby vegetable sprouts.
What an easygoing companion.
Once he finished tending to the animals, Han Qiwu approached the row of storage boxes and began sorting the items he had gathered, making sure not to repeat the mistake of forgetting the crab traps.
After checking his coal stock, Han Qiwu crafted three more furnaces.
Lately, his demand for metal ingots had surged, and the existing furnaces just weren’t enough.
As soon as the furnaces were finished, Han Qiwu filled them up with iron ore.
After a bout of busyness, Han Qiwu glanced at the time.
It was already past ten—time for a late-night snack.
Thinking it over, he decided to make some spicy crawfish.
Having a pet otter at home sure was worth it!
