Chapter 906: Chapter 906 Matchmaker Visits (4)

Mo Yan nodded quickly, agreeing, "Father, rest assured, your daughter will certainly not act recklessly." She would just toy with those two women from the Zhao Family until they were at their wits’ end.

Watching his daughter’s pure and obedient appearance, Mo Qingze failed to see the "malice" within her and said, "Let’s leave it at that for now. If anything arises, Father will write to you!"

Speaking of writing, he was reminded of that clever myna, and with a cough and some discomfort, he said, "That myna is quite good. If you can tame others like it, keep this one for me to look after!"

"Ah, you want it?" Mo Yan was somewhat surprised, but considering her father alone at the Scholar Mansion and that he might not always have topics to discuss with Uncle Sun and Aunt Sun, she thought having a bird to pass the time would indeed be nice, and said, "That will depend on whether it’s willing. Please wait, I’ll call it over."

With that, she called the myna perched on a tree branch in the backyard to the hall, resulting in the remaining dozen or so birds also eagerly joining in the commotion.

Mo Qingze stared blankly at the large and small dozen birds before him, meeting their curious gazes, feeling that it was time to have a serious talk with his daughter.

"Yanyan, all these birds, you’ve tamed them in such a short period?" Mo Qingze asked with difficulty, as there hadn’t been a single bird at home just ten days earlier.

"Yes, I’ve raised them during this time!" Mo Yan said with a proud smile, "I didn’t expect not only Little Flower and the others to be fond of me, but even these little creatures to be charmed by my allure."

"Does anyone else know about this?" Mo Qingze asked, ignoring his daughter’s thick skin, his tone serious. He didn’t care how she trained these birds; he only hoped she wouldn’t attract trouble. To have tamed those fierce beasts was surprising enough; to tame birds with such ease was extraordinary.

Understanding her father’s concerns, Mo Yan shook her head and said, "Besides you and me, no one else knows. Even Xin Er and the others just think these birds come to our house for food and drink."

Taming birds for human use was not unheard of, but the time investment required was certainly not a mere ten days’ work. Take the clever Maomao, for instance, which had also been tamed by its owner soon after birth, taking three years just to barely pass messages, and only after five years did it perform flawlessly.

Mo Qingze was reassured and earnestly advised, "Father knows you possess abilities that ordinary people do not have. While that is a good thing, if those with ill intentions find out, it might bring you trouble. In the future, be cautious and never disclose this to anyone."

Three years ago on the escape route, Mo Yan always seemed to "luckily" find food, which made Mo Qingze suspicious. Following some clues, he confirmed Mo Yan’s extraordinary abilities. Despite not knowing exactly what that ability was, Mo Qingze was aware that once detected by others, he would certainly be unable to protect Mo Yan. He had never broached the subject for fear of inadvertently revealing the secret and causing her harm.

Later, the taming of fierce beasts could be explained to outsiders as the animals being spirited and gaining their trust through a heartfelt exchange, but the rapid use of birds was hard to explain.

Seeing her father’s worry, Mo Yan felt warmth in her heart and said seriously, "Father, I understand the importance, and I let my guard down only in front of you. If it were anyone else, I would certainly never be so careless."

She also knew she had already exposed some of her abilities to her father three years ago, but because she knew that he would not harm her, she did not hide the "taming" of the birds this time either.

Meeting his daughter’s trusting gaze, Mo Qingze’s heart softened, and he gently patted her head with a sigh, "Father won’t ask what your abilities are, and you should not mention them to anyone, including your future husband, your children, understand?"

Mo Yan nodded firmly, "Father, I understand."

Mo Qingze’s expression softened, and after patting his daughter’s shoulder without saying more, he turned his attention to the dozen or so birds in front of him. Although there were three mynas, he immediately recognized the one that had delivered the message and extended his hand towards that myna.

Recognizing him as the recipient of its first message, the myna obediently flew to his hand and perched, its tender yellow beak chirping "cheep cheep," clearly happy.

Knowing that the person before it wanted to keep it, the Little myna felt quite proud. But as it was mostly willing to deliver messages because of its longing for the treats in Mo Yan’s Space, it was not so keen on leaving with Mo Qingze.

Mo Yan, aware of the little foodie’s thoughts, negotiated that when her father was away at the Government Office attending to duties, it could come back for some delicious food.

The little foodie thought this was a good arrangement and agreed to it.

The only parrot liked liveliness but was both lazy and greedy. It would spend almost the entire day on the tree, unless it was hungry, instead of flying back and forth like the other birds.

Seeing that it didn’t have to fly much to see the excitement in town, it willingly jumped onto Mo Qingze’s shoulder, calling out in a strange voice, "Going, going, master, master!"

Mo Qingze, taken by surprise as the parrot suddenly spoke, inadvertently trembled and nearly shook the myna off.

His ears rang with the parrot’s loud cries, and he quickly grabbed the noisy creature to quiet it, curiously inspecting it. Finding that the parrot actually could speak human words, he thought it interesting and decided to keep it in the Scholar Mansion to accompany the myna.

Mo Yan almost immediately agreed; the creature was a complete chatterbox, constantly babbling in her ear to the point of driving her nearly mad. She could hardly wait for someone to take it away.
