Mo Yongfu, spurred on by Mrs. Hong and Old Man Mo’s insinuations, went to the Wu family’s house and suggested that Tie Tou and his siblings come to Lao Mo’s House for the New Year’s Eve dinner. The Tie Tou’s siblings had no intention of going, and the Wu family’s door didn’t even open.

Mo Yongfu waited in the cold wind for half an hour but didn’t see anyone come out, leaving unwillingly and with resentment.

As for Mrs. Hong, she invariably thought of Mo Yongxi, who had been punished to work in the mines, and she muttered a vicious curse against the Mo Family...

However, on the fourth day of the new year, the Mo Family’s courtyard gate was knocked upon, and it was Xiao Ruiyuan bringing New Year gifts for his visit.

The fourth day of the New Year is a somewhat special occasion, as visitors on this day, if not relatives, are recognized sons-in-law of the host family.

The marriage arrangement between Mo Yan and Xiao Ruiyuan had yet to be finalized, and Xiao Ruiyuan should not have visited on this day. However, he couldn’t wait and decided to use the opportunity to gauge the future father-in-law’s attitude.
