Chapter 515: Chapter 515: Divorce (2)_1
Mo Danier snapped back to reality and, seeing her mother’s anxious expression, suddenly smiled. She gently grasped Mo Wu’s somewhat trembling hand and said earnestly, "Mother, no matter what you do, your daughter will support you. Wherever you go, your daughter will follow. You will always be my dear mother!"
Mo Wu’s tears instantly fell. She covered her mouth to keep from crying out loud. Those tears weren’t of sadness, but of joy from the bottom of her heart.
Seeing her mother cry again, San Ni and Shitou stood by Mo Wu’s side, one on the left and one on the right. Ten-year-old Dani, as if understanding something, tightened her little face and said to her mother, "Mother, San Ni will follow you too. We siblings will all follow you. You can’t leave us behind, San Ni doesn’t want to... doesn’t want to be a child without a mother..."
By the end, her eyes reddened and her voice choked up, unable to continue.
The youngest, Shitou, was only four years old and didn’t quite understand what his mother and sisters were talking about. But that didn’t stop him from grasping the meaning of the words "follow." Thinking that his mother was going somewhere and his sisters were going to follow, he urgently shouted, "Follow, follow, Shitou wants to follow!"
Mo Wu could no longer hold back and sobbed as she embraced her son and daughter, "Everyone follow, everyone follow, Mother won’t leave anyone behind."
The mother and her three children hugged each other and wept bitterly. Lying on the bed, unable to move for the moment, Mo Danier also had tears streaming down her face.
The dilapidated door could not block the crying of the mother and her four children, which reached the main room. Mo Hong’s family slammed the table in anger and yelled towards the doorway, "You cursed wretches, your mother isn’t dead yet. Who are you mourning for? Keep howling and get out of my house!"
Old Man Mo frowned at the thought of living under the same roof as the daughter-in-law who had just miscarried, feeling a sense of ill-omen. Watching Mo Hong’s family, who was shouting louder and louder, he didn’t say a word.
He wanted no part in this misdeed!
The other three, aside from Mo Yongxi occasionally interjecting with a curse, Mrs. Niu and Mo Yongfu both looked down at the dust on their toes as if they hadn’t heard anything. One was indifferent, and the other had already given up.
...
Three days flew by, and Lao Mo’s House seemed calm and normal.
Just when the villagers thought the Mo family had seen the error of their ways and would treat Mother and daughter of Mo Wu clan well, the two were kicked out on the fourth day, at the hottest midday, by Mo Hong’s family and the others.
"Wu’s, you failed to preserve the Mo Family’s bloodline. You are the culprit of the Mo Family! Since you are guilty, this family can no longer shelter you, or else how would we answer to our ancestors if they were to blame someone? And you, Mo Danier, you have a tough fate. The child in your mother’s womb was cursed to death by you! Don’t blame me for being heartless as a grandmother. Keeping you here would only bring harm to others. From now on, follow your mother’s surname; you’re no longer a part of the Mo family. Whether you thrive or perish, it’s all your fate. The Mo Family won’t concern itself with you anymore!"
Mo Hong’s family stood at the doorway, hips akimbo, spitting out these righteous-sounding words to Mother and daughter of Mo Wu clan—as well as to the villagers who had come to watch the commotion—assuming the posture of someone with no choice, as if anyone would actually believe her.
Out of guilt or for some other reason, no other members of Lao Mo’s House were present. Looking into the room from the doorway, only San Ni stood there, holding her brother’s hand, their young faces devoid of any expression.
"Inhumane, utterly inhumane! How can they treat a woman who’s just miscarried and their own granddaughter like this? What goes around comes around. The Mo Family will receive their comeuppance; they surely will!"
"Hmph, the Mo Family is already suffering their comeuppance. Haven’t you seen how Mo Yongshou was exiled? He’s probably already died on the way to exile. And this old maid too—if she were any other girl, matchmakers would’ve worn down the doorstep by now. But not a single one wants her. Isn’t that comeuppance, I ask you?"
