Chapter 379: Chapter 379: The Idea of a Beast Entering the Village to Beat the Dog (1)_1

Mo Yan was still in the courtyard when she heard Little Flower’s somewhat piercing roar from the back mountain. Anxious, she quickly opened the side door and ran towards the mountain, with Xin Er following her.

At the foot of the mountain, Zhenzhen and the other youngsters anxiously looked up towards the mid-slope, where a fierce battle was taking place. They had approached for a moment earlier but had almost been flung away by the Red Python’s tail, so they didn’t dare to follow any further.

Seeing Mo Yan approach, they bombarded her with questions about what to do. They were familiar with several wild animals and didn’t want any of them to get hurt.

Halfway up the mountain was covered with withered grass. Mo Yan could only hear Little Flower’s cries but couldn’t see them; instead, she saw the Red Python, which should have been hibernating, raising its massive head and quickly slithering through the grass, with the sound of its tail angrily slapping the ground faintly audible.

It seemed that the Red Python was truly enraged. Could it be that Little Flower and the others had awakened the hibernating Red Python?

Guessing this, Mo Yan hurried towards the mid-slope. If she didn’t intervene soon, the commotion would surely attract the villagers!

"Sister, don’t go, it’s too dangerous!" Xin Er exclaimed in shock, calling from behind, while the youngsters also rushed up to dissuade her.

Mo Yan turned her head and gestured to them with her hand, "The Red Python’s temper isn’t that bad; it won’t hurt me. You guys stop following. I’ll be very careful."

No sooner had she spoken than Little Flower let out another piteous cry. Mo Yan couldn’t say more and dashed up the mountain.

The youngsters, worried that the Red Python might harm their sister, closely followed her at a safe distance, ready to help if needed.

On the mid-slope, several wild beasts were fighting viciously. The Red Python’s eyes were bloodshot, and it twisted its body in a frenzy, hissing with its tongue and relentlessly pursuing Xiao Hua Dabai, heavily thrashing at them with its tail. It was indeed infuriated!

Dabai was okay, running fast. The Red Python didn’t chase it much and focused most of its attention on Little Flower. Poor Little Flower, being slower, couldn’t shake off the Red Python and occasionally was hit by its tail.

As for Mao Tuan, it clung to a high tree branch, watching the perilous scene below, crying anxiously whilst hugging the trunk, yet not daring to come down and mediate.

Seeing this, Mo Yan was pretty certain that Little Flower had provoked the Red Python and awakened it from hibernation. Otherwise, given the Red Python’s usual placable temper, it wouldn’t have lashed out so fiercely.

Looking at Little Flower scurrying to dodge, Mo Yan inwardly remarked "serves you right" and simply stood by to watch it being punished.

Chased and beaten by the furious Red Python, Little Flower wasn’t as tough-skinned or resilient. It was smacked and bitten, bleeding quite a bit; its silver fur was stained with large patches of red, the pain causing it to howl miserably and pathetically.

Yet the Red Python had no plans to spare Little Flower, ragefully pursuing the "chief culprit" who had disturbed its slumber with its eyes as large as copper bells. It had been comfortably hibernating in its den, not provoking anyone, but this creature had barged in and woken it up. Being quite old, even if it had consumed many spiritual energy-rich delicacies over the past few months, its aging body hadn’t improved much.

With the cold of winter, it was most susceptible to freezing to death in its sleep, never to wake again. Now being roused prematurely, its body felt terrible. All those spiritual substances it had eaten over the past few months were in vain, and there might even be greater damage to its body – all because of this damned creature!

At this moment, Little Flower’s heart was nearly breaking! Not requiring hibernation itself, it had no idea of the impact on the Red Python— it just felt bored and wanted to call the Red Python out to play. But instead, the creature chased it as if possessed.
