After saving Xiao Ruiyuan that day, Mo Yan hadn’t been into the mountains for a while due to some trifles. Dabai hadn’t seen her for a long time and missed her dearly. Under the wary gaze of the master and servant, Dabai approached Mo Yan with an elegant stride and nuzzled affectionately against her for quite a while.

Mo Yan, smiling, patted its head and took out a roast chicken that she had prepared the night before in the Space for it from a cloth bag.

Dabai was very happy, chewing on the roast chicken with relish.

Little Flower looked at Mo Yan with an accusing gaze. Yanyan was being unfair; why didn’t it get one?

After a full meal, Dabai, in a good mood, took the lead. Dabai wouldn’t guide these two humans to any other fierce beast unless Yanyan asked, but the Red Python was its neighbor. They had fought a few years back, and the Python had recently invaded its territory, almost frightening Yanyan. Now, with the help of two humans, it was going to teach that pest a lesson.

Although their territories were adjacent, the Red Python was sly by nature and often elusive, so Dabai could only follow its scent slowly, which meant it wasn’t a quick search.

Even so, they traveled a considerable distance. Mo Yan managed to keep up at first, but later she developed blisters on her feet, making it very painful to walk and slowing her down. To avoid wasting time, she gritted her teeth and persisted.

Xiao Ruiyuan was keeping an eye on her and noticing her occasionally frowning and walking unnaturally, he suggested they rest before continuing the search. But Dabai disagreed; the scent of that pest was getting stronger, and it was likely nearby. What if they delayed and it got away?

Dabai naturally wouldn’t let Mo Yan endure the pain and walk. So, it asked Little Flower to carry Mo Yan on its back. A tough battle lay ahead, and it needed to conserve its strength. Little Flower was the most useless one here; it wouldn’t be of much help later, so having it carry Yanyan was best.

Little Flower was oblivious to being despised again and, under Xiao Eleven’s gobsmacked gaze, it steadily hoisted Mo Yan onto its back.

Mo Yan felt rather embarrassed; after all, she had followed them because she was concerned about the danger Little Flower and Dabai might encounter. Now, not only had she not helped, but she had also become a burden.

Dabai, focused on the mission, searched for traces of the Red Python, and before long, it stopped in a depression, sniffing around with its nose down. Eventually, it settled by a rock and scraped out a long white object with its paw.

Upon closer inspection, Mo Yan was nearly scared off Little Flower’s back. That white object, thicker than her waist by a circle and nearly twenty meters long, was a snake skin!

If the skin was that thick and long, how big was the snake itself!

Xiao Ruiyuan picked up the skin to examine it and compared it with the scale they’d found earlier. A hint of pleasure flashed through his cool eyes; clearly, the skin belonged to the Red Python.

But this Red Python was bigger than he had imagined. He didn’t think the Red Python would be a match for him, but snakes were fast. If the Red Python escaped before he could catch it, he wasn’t sure he could keep up.

Dabai was overjoyed at finding the shed skin of the Red Python. Since that pest had just molted, it was at its most vulnerable. Even without the help of these two humans, it could win the fight.

In a moment, upon finding the vermin, it still wanted to be the first to attack, because it was determined to defeat the creature with its own strength.

Dabai’s speed increased considerably, and Xiao Ruiyuan closely followed, his hand already gripping the hilt of his sword, ready to strike down the Red Python at any moment. He did not neglect Mo Yan, staying close by her side, while Xiao Eleven followed last to guard against any surprises.

Before long, Dabai slowed down, its head hanging low, eyes unblinkingly fixed on the shrubbery ahead, its paws gently touching the ground without making a sound.

Seeing this, Xiao Ruiyuan reflexively shielded Mo Yan, his right hand tightly gripping the sword hilt at his waist, his sharp and severe gaze scanning the movement in the bushes.

Mo Yan also grew so nervous that she dared not even breathe heavily, her clenched hands slick with sweat.

Xiao Ruiyuan was puzzled, but he couldn’t stop. If he wanted to capture the Red Python, he had to subdue it with one strike; otherwise, the Red Python would definitely flee upon seeing so many people.

Dabai was fuming with anger. Had it known this guy wouldn’t listen, it would have never brought him along.

Dabai moved aside, clearly letting Xiao Ruiyuan take the lead.

Xiao Ruiyuan certainly would not shrink back. He moved in almost complete silence, inching closer to the clump of trees. Just as he was ready to pounce and overpower the enemy in one move, a sudden, high-pitched Wolf Howl burst from behind him.

A Red Python, as thick as a water barrel, had reared up its front half, and its massive head appeared right above Mo Yan’s head, opening a maw filled with sharp white teeth, as it lunged to bite at Mo Yan’s waist.

Little Flower beneath her reacted too slowly, and Xiao Eleven, who was the closest, was completely unaware of the Red Python’s sneak attack from behind. By the time Dabai noticed the commotion, it was too late. Xiao Ruiyuan was too far away; even as his sword flew towards the Red Python, the creature had already taken the first step, snatching Mo Yan and darting down the densely vegetated slope beside them.
