Chapter 1318: Final Chapter Ending Three
Mo Yan spent four to five days straightening out the winery’s accounts for the past ten months, and after deducting the costs of brewing, packaging, and labor, the net profit reached 135,000 taels. She only got a 30% share of the profit, but that still amounted to over 40,000 taels.
Earning 40,000 taels in a month was nearly equal to the Mo Family’s total income over the past two years. So much silver—no one would likely believe it if they heard, yet it was absolutely true and not inflated by any means.
One-fifth of the winery’s inventory was depleted in a month, leaving the remaining four-fifths that Mo Yan planned to sell off slowly. The income in the following months would certainly not be as much, but making ten thousand tael silver a month would be no problem.
Once this batch of wine was completely sold, the net profit would be 160,000 taels, an astoundingly large sum. Come next spring, when the orchard was abloom, the winery would host various flower-viewing and tea parties. With some additional merchandise, the income was expected to be quite substantial.
"What’s the use, no matter how substantial it is? The bulk of the winery’s earnings are taken by that Yan surname kid!" Xue tuanzi lay atop the pile of glistening silver, feeling exceedingly sour at heart, still unable to get over the fact that the majority of the silver went to Yan Junyu.
In its view, the winery was Mo Yan’s brainchild; she was the one bustling about during the construction and the one responsible for creating the exquisite wine. Yan Junyu had only invested several hundred thousand taels of silver and didn’t deserve to take away seventy percent of the profits.
"That was the agreement from the start. Besides, without him, we wouldn’t be able to make this much silver now!" Mo Yan, seeing Xue tuanzi obviously treat silver like dirt yet still unhappy about the split, couldn’t help but laugh. "Giving him so much silver, we’re not at a loss. We need his support to penetrate the entire Great Chu market. In the future, we can make even more silver for you to count and play with every day."
When she built the winery, she had no idea she would be appointed as County Lord and end up with a high-status husband. Had she known, she surely would have postponed the winery construction for two years, eliminating the need to partner with Junyu.
It wasn’t that she regretted the partnership or the division of silver—it was just that the winery was built with so much of her hard work that she had hoped it would belong solely to her.
"Hmph, who cares about counting these useless lumps? They can’t be eaten and they take up space. You can take them all away later," Xue tuanzi said disapprovingly, its round body rolling several times in the pile of silver, relishing the clinking sound, unable to resist rubbing itself all over the shiny coins.
Lips do not match the heart! Mo Yan silently teased Xue tuanzi in her mind. While it was rolling joyously, she moved all of the silver out of Space, leaving it to roll into emptiness.
"So stingy! When I Transform someday, I’m really scared you’ll begrudge even my meals." Xue tuanzi stood up from the ground, shaking off the dust and complaining indignantly.
"Don’t worry, you won’t starve to death. After all, you’ve grown up on Spiritual Energy. Whether you eat or not doesn’t matter!" Mo Yan said seriously, showing no sign of joking.
"You, you wouldn’t really deny me food, would you?" Xue tuanzi suddenly widened its eyes, looking utterly crestfallen. "If I can’t eat before Transforming, or be deprived of food after Transforming, then what’s the point of all my efforts to level up?"
"Who said it’s pointless?" Mo Yan remained unyielding, continuing to tease the simplistically minded Xue tuanzi. "You could be pardoned when you were young, but once you’ve grown up, couldn’t you help me with work? And I wouldn’t have to feed you. Such an excellent source of free labor—where else could I find that?"
Xue tuanzi, feeling deeply aggrieved, turned its back, huffing with indignation: "If you dare do that, I’ll accuse you of child labor and ensure you lose all face and can’t hold your head up."
Mo Yan stepped forward, poking Xue tuanzi’s belly with a smile: "This isn’t the twenty-first century, there’re no laws against child labor here. You’re welcome to tell anyone, perhaps someone will take pity on you and take you in."
Hearing this, Xue tuanzi was close to tears, realizing it couldn’t even win a verbal dispute. Was it really relegated to nothing more than being bullied?
Mo Yan finally showed some conscience and stopped teasing the little one, speaking softly to it. Seeing that the little guy was still ignoring her, she left Space with a big laugh, allowing the Six Beasts to come in and keep it company.
After breakfast, Mo Yan handed over the winery’s budget for the next month to Lizhong and, as usual, went to the clinic to see the Patients who had come for consultation.
