Chapter 1293: Chapter 404 Yanyan Is Injured and Kidnapped_3
"Ahh, ahh, ahh, just the profit from this one day amounts to eighty thousand taels! Yanyan, with the wine sold, the silver spent on constructing the winery will be entirely recouped," Xuetuan marveled, surprised and delighted by the sudden earnings.
It was an Artifact Spirit, and in its eyes, silver was as useless as stones. Only after there was hope for Transformation under Mo Yan’s influence did it slowly understand the purchasing power of one or two pieces of silver. Now, selling more than two thousand cases of wine could earn so much silver; the fruit wine was an outright windfall.
Mo Yan nodded with pleasure, putting away the pages of the list and said, "That should be about right. There’s still quite a bit of this batch left—I thought we would have to sell it until next year’s harvest, but I didn’t expect leveraging the influence of the Prince’s Mansion would have such a good effect. I reckon it won’t be long before we get more orders; we could possibly sell out by the end of the year."
"Haha, that’s great," Xuetuan exclaimed excitedly as it bounced around the Space. The more its master earned, the sooner they could implement those plans to accumulate merit. Even if it could only advance its Transformation by ten days or half a month, it wouldn’t let the opportunity slip away.
"Don’t get too excited just yet. We built the winery with Young Master Yan’s silver. We had an agreement to give him seventy percent of the profits. This time we earned eighty thousand taels of silver, so we must give him fifty-six thousand, and we’re only left with twenty-four thousand," Mo Yan couldn’t help but say, delivering a blow to Xuetuan’s high spirits.
"Ow, that guy’s so rich, and he still wants the lion’s share, that’s going too far," Xuetuan howled dejectedly, pained by the significant amount of silver slipping away.
"Don’t think like that. Without him, the winery might not have been built at all, and we wouldn’t have had this much silver to share!" Mo Yan consoled Xuetuan, urging it not to dwell on the matter.
These twenty-plus thousand taels of silver were as much as her family’s annual income. Once this batch of wine was sold, they could turn over more than a hundred thousand—that’s several hundred thousand taels.
Xuetuan was instantly comforted and stopped fussing about the large amount of silver being divided. Master and Artifact Spirit bantered while discussing plans for implementation, and before they knew it, the carriage had arrived at the North gate. After a routine inspection, the carriage smoothly left Jing City.
The shadows grew long, and the sun, yellow as an egg yolk, was less than three feet above the ground. As they neared Liu Yang Village, the number of people on the road dwindled. Just as the carriage turned a corner and passed a small copse of trees, the birds within suddenly burst into flight, and Little Black, who had been proceeding smoothly, abruptly came to a halt.
Due to inertia, Mo Yan nearly crashed into the carriage door. She opened the door, frowning, and asked, "Little Black, why did you stop all of a sudden?"
Before Little Black could answer, Xuetuan inside the Space screamed loudly, "Yanyan, it’s dangerous, run!"
Mo Yan sensed trouble and quickly urged Little Black to speed up. Already aware that something was amiss, Little Black energetically spread its hooves and dashed towards the direction of Liu Yang Village.
After rushing for dozens of meters and just about to pass through the small grove, a rope as thick as a thumb appeared in Little Black’s field of vision.
However, Little Black was moving too fast to stop in time. It watched helplessly as its front hooves uncontrollably tripped over the rope and then it harshly fell to the ground, a severe pain sweeping over its forelimbs, nearly rendering it unconscious from the agony.
The carriage lost its balance and with a shout of alarm from Mo Yan, tumbled to the ground, sliding a considerable distance due to inertia.
Everything happened in the blink of an eye, Mo Yan had no time to react. The moment the carriage toppled, her head struck hard against the side, and a trail of crimson blood trickled down her forehead, quickly soaking the front of her garment.
"Yanyan, wake up, please wake up!" Xuetuan watched Mo Yan, blood smeared across her face and semi-conscious, and cried out desperately for her to regain awareness.
Hearing Xuetuan’s voice, Mo Yan groggily opened her eyes. The intense pain in her head and body prevented her from thinking, and she had no idea what had just transpired.
Suddenly, she thought she could hear voices outside, as if far away, yet seemingly right by her ear. Mo Yan knew this fall was no accident. Blurry and confused, she suddenly remembered Abbot Liaokong once saying she was destined for a calamity—was this it?
Knowing she was in grave danger, Mo Yan wanted to retreat into the Space to avoid this disaster, but the acute pain made it impossible for her to concentrate and enter the Space. As Xuetuan continued calling out urgently, her eyelids grew heavier, and finally, her eyes closed, and she completely passed out.
