Chapter 1228: Chapter 387: Joy Pulse, The Bloody Incident Caused by Stinky Tofu

Mo Yan’s expression was so odd that Cui Pingan and Fangcao became tense all at once, especially Fangcao, whose body stiffened imperceptibly with worry that there might be some problem with her health, preventing her from bearing children for her husband.

Seeing his wife’s unease, Cui Pingan quickly sat down beside her, stretched out his arm, and hugged her tightly. Even without saying a word, the comfort he conveyed allowed Fangcao to relax gradually, no longer as afraid.

This time, the duration Mo Yan took to feel Fangcao’s pulse was even longer than for Cui Pingan, until she was certain she had not made a mistake. Finally, she looked up at the nervous young couple across from her and, smiling, congratulated them, "Congratulations, congratulations, you two are going to be parents!"

The young couple looked at Mo Yan, stupefied, unable to comprehend.

Having encountered such a situation before, Mo Yan reminded them again, "Cousin-in-law is pregnant, already a month along." The pregnancy was still early; if not for her stronger sensitivity in pulse diagnosis than ordinary doctors, it might have gone undetected.

At this, Cui Pingan finally caught on and, overcome with excitement, jumped to his feet, his joy obvious, "C-c-c-cousin, are you serious? Fangcao is really pregnant?"

Observing the trembling Cui Pingan, Mo Yan, for the first time, did not mock or deride him, but nodded affirmatively, "There’s no mistake; you are going to be a father."

Having received a definite response, Cui Pingan let out a shout, abruptly lifting his wife, who was caressing her belly in disbelief, and began to yell joyfully, "Fangcao, we have a child, we’re having a child!"

Caught off guard and hoisted up suddenly, Fangcao cried out in shock. Once she realized what was happening, a series of punches, neither heavy nor light, began to rain down on the spinning Cui Pingan, "Are you, are you crazy? Put me down now, I’m dizzy."

Hearing this, Cui Pingan swiftly and carefully set her down, appeasing his wife as he touched her still-flat belly, "My lady, it’s my fault, it’s my fault. I didn’t scare the child, did I?"

Fangcao raised her hand and twisted his ear, speaking indignantly, "Dare to scare me like that again, and even if the child is fine, I won’t be."

Cui Pingan didn’t mind his wife’s disrespectful gesture at all and hurriedly promised, "Never again, never again will I scare you like that; I was just too happy before."

Fangcao huffed but before she could say anything else, she suddenly remembered there was another person in the room and stopped mid-sentence, turning toward where Mo Yan should be, only to find the space empty; Mo Yan had already left.

Listening to the laughter inside the house, Mo Yan shook her head with a smile, feeling happy for the couple.

"Yanyan, what’s going on inside the house? I thought I heard Seventh crying just now." Mo Yan entered the courtyard; Cui Qingrou stood up to meet her, glancing towards the parlor, her beautiful face showing concern.

Mo Yan shook her head and smiled, "It’s good news. Once they come out, you’ll know."

Such good news should rightly come from the couple themselves to make everyone happy; if she were to tell, it would lessen the joy.

Relieved by Mo Yan’s words, Cui Qingrou didn’t inquire further.

It was quite a while before the little couple, who had been cooing over each other inside the house for some time, appeared before everyone. When Cui Pingan loudly announced he was going to be a father, the women congratulated the couple in unison, gently helping Fangcao sit down and teaching her what she must be cautious of during pregnancy; the men came forward, patting Cui Pingan on the shoulder to congratulate him for finally maturing into fatherhood, and even the clueless little kids came up, each stretching out a hand asking for sweets.

Cui Pingan, who hadn’t expected such a surprise from his visit to the Scholar Mansion, didn’t have any sweets to give. Despite the objection of the kids’ parents, he cheerfully pulled out a few exquisite gold leaves from his purse to give one to each child.

When there weren’t enough gold leaves, he started taking off his valuable adornments, making sure every child got something.

Even though he had given away his long-saved private stash in a flash, Cui Pingan was very happy, spending the whole afternoon hovering around Fangcao, asking now and then if she was thirsty or hungry, a paragon of a devoted husband and a good father, eliciting a good deal of teasing from everyone.

At the request of the young couple, Mo Yan wrote down everything that should be abstained from and avoided during pregnancy. The couple treasured the list as if it was priceless and went over it meticulously, fearing they might inadvertently consume or do something harmful to the fetus in the womb.
