Chapter 1134: Chapter 362: Memories, Simple Happiness_2

Although Mo Yan could now prescribe her own medicinal recipes, for a situation like Princess Consort Liang’s, she dared not take the risk. The slightest mistake, even a minute deviation, could turn the fetus-preserving medicine into poison.

After the Imperial Physician had left, Mo Yan also made her excuses to leave. Princess Consort Liang was very grateful to Mo Yan, believing that it was her arrival that brought good fortune, preventing any mishap with the child in her womb. Therefore, in addition to inviting Mo Yan to visit the mansion often, she also gave her many rare items that were hard to find outside.

Indeed, it was a gift, not a reward, which indicated that Princess Consort Liang already fully regarded Mo Yan as one of her own.

As for being considered a benefactor by Princess Consort Liang, Mo Yan genuinely felt undeserving. She had merely been the first to confirm the happy pulse. She hadn’t really helped with anything else, but since the Crown Princess was so convinced, she had no choice but to accept the generous gifts.

Before leaving, with the cover of her sleeves, Mo Yan took out a sachet from the Space and presented it to Princess Consort Liang. The sachet contained sleeping pills prepared with medicinal herbs from the Space; it would bring peace of mind and aid in sleeping soundly throughout the night just by placing it beside the bed.

Earlier, when feeling the pulse, she had detected from the pulse picture that Princess Consort Liang’s sleep was not good. This sachet would be quite useful without negatively affecting the fetus in her womb.

When Mo Yan and Xiao Ruiyuan left the Prince’s Mansion, the sky had darkened, and the air was gently dotted with falling snowflakes, casting an extra layer of romance onto the tranquil night.

The shops on the street had already closed, and there were hardly any people coming and going. Xiao Ruiyuan’s naturally warm and dry hand held Mo Yan’s even more tightly. His lips curled up with a tender smile, "I’ll take you somewhere."

Mo Yan turned her head, asking curiously, "Where to?"

Xiao Ruiyuan shook his head, however, stubbornly refusing to answer no matter how much Mo Yan pressed him.

Unable to hide her dissatisfaction, Mo Yan poked his side, and seeing him instinctively dodge, she poked him even more playfully. This was his most sensitive spot, extremely ticklish, and it was something she had discovered with great difficulty.

In such a beautiful setting, with a lovely companion by his side, Xiao Ruiyuan was provoked by the poking, and if the situation had been different, he would have already embraced her tightly to stop her mischief.

In the end, unable to endure it, Xiao Ruiyuan ended up grabbing Mo Yan’s mischievous hand and holding it tightly in his own. The two walked awkwardly down the street, fortunately encountering few people. Even those they did meet paid them no mind.

Hand in hand, they walked slowly through the snowy night. Even though there wasn’t much conversation between them, their understanding of each other was clear. They wished this road was endless so they could walk forever.

After an unknown amount of time, they stopped at the mouth of a narrow alley. At the other end of the alley was a noodle shop that surprisingly hadn’t closed. Through the increasingly thick snowflakes, one could vaguely see under the yellow light, two hunched figures busily moving back and forth, adding a touch of warmth to the cold and silent snowy night.

Xiao Ruiyuan tied their three horses to a large banyan tree at the entrance of the alley, then took Mo Yan’s hand, and they walked towards the noodle shop at the end of the alley.

The elderly couple seemed to recognize Xiao Ruiyuan. Seeing them approach, the old lady greeted warmly with her thick local accent, "Xiao Wawa, you’ve come. Is this girl your wife?"

Xiao Ruiyuan’s face softened unexpectedly, and he nodded, affirming what the old lady had said.

"Very good, very good. She’s a pretty girl. You’re a lucky man," the old lady said with a pleased smile, her forehead wrinkles deepening, making her look kindly and adorable.

Mo Yan was unsure of the situation and didn’t know what to say, so she just smiled at the old couple.

After ordering two bowls of chicken noodle soup from the old man, Xiao Ruiyuan looked back at the scene and the corners of his mouth turned up slightly in a smile. Under the dim yellow light, this smile also seemed to carry warmth.

The couple got busy cooking, and Xiao Ruiyuan, holding Mo Yan’s hand, entered the low and cramped room, taking a seat at one of the empty tables.

The room was truly low; Xiao Ruiyuan had to bend over as he came in to avoid hitting his head on the doorframe. Inside, it was very narrow, with only two long tables and eight chairs, with nothing else visible.

Despite its simplicity, the walls and floor were clean, free of any filth, and the tables were spotless without a trace of grease. There was not a single unpleasant smell in the air, only the enticing aroma of food. It was evident the couple kept things clean, and this environment helped to soothe the restlessness in one’s heart.
