Chapter 1104: Chapter 353: Cousin, The Child_2
By the time Mo Yan woke up again, it was the sound of someone knocking on the door that roused her. Mao Tuan was also disturbed from its slumber, feeling a tad grumpy upon waking up. Seeing Mo Yan getting up to answer the door, it quickly stretched out its sharp little paws to hook onto the hem of her garment, reluctant to let her leave.
The delicate undergarment couldn’t withstand such tugging, and only after much coaxing did Mao Tuan retract its claws, grumpily burying its head under the covers. It was obviously in a bit of a sulk.
Patting Hutou on the head, Mo Yan helplessly went to open the door, only to be greeted with a pleasant surprise, "Sister Lan, what brings you here at this hour? Come in, come in and warm up.
Liu Tinglan was particularly susceptible to the cold, bundled up from head to toe, with only her eyes visible. She was quite chilled at the moment and found it difficult to speak. She just nodded at Mo Yan and stepped over the threshold, making a beeline for the warm bedroom.
"Brr, I’m freezing to death! I can’t feel my hands or my face, this damned weather, who knows when it’ll let up," Liu Tinglan quickly removed the windproof hat from her head and a leather scarf wrapped around her face and complained to Mo Yan, clearly very cold.
"This heavy snow isn’t likely to stop any time soon, probably not until next year," Mo Yan replied with a smile, noticing that the buttons of her friend’s padded jacket were tangled in her long hair and couldn’t be undone, so she stepped forward to help out.
After much effort, Liu Tinglan shed her cumbersome layers, took a deep breath, and plopped down on Mo Yan’s bed, quickly kicking off her shoes and ready to burrow into the bedcovers.
Just then, a fuzzy large paw reached out from under the blanket and gently hooked around Liu Tinglan’s waist, drawing her into the warmth.
"Ah, what’s that?" Liu Tinglan shrieked in fright, springing up from the bed, her big eyes staring in horror at the stirring blanket, and soon a fuzzy big head emerged from under the covers.
It was Mao Tuan, having mistaken Liu Tinglan for its owner.
Mao Tuan shook its head, freeing itself from its owner’s grasp. It squinted its tiger eyes at Liu Tinglan, its gaze was fairly gentle, clearly not holding a grudge anymore.
Liu Tinglan, with a horrified expression, stared at Mao Tuan and asked Mo Yan, "Do you, do you actually share a blanket with it at night?"
Thinking her friend was disgusted by Mao Tuan being dirty, Mo Yan explained, "It bathes every day, it’s not dirty at all, and with it in bed, it’s not the slightest bit cold."
"That’s not what I’m talking about." Liu Tinglan rolled her eyes, "Aren’t you afraid it might dream about food and accidentally bite you?"
"Pfft, ha ha ha, you really have quite the imagination," Mo Yan couldn’t help but burst into loud laughter, "Mao Tuan certainly isn’t like someone I know, capable of gnawing on a hand as if it were a pork rib."
Upon hearing that, Liu Tinglan’s face flushed red, and she darted toward Mo Yan, trying to scratch her, "How long ago was that? You still bring it up. All my good intentions, you’re treating me like I’m completely unappreciated, hmpf!"
"Stop, stop scratching, or Mao Tuan will scratch you," Mo Yan quickly begged for mercy, seeing Mao Tuan ready to pounce, she promptly stopped her friend.
Mao Tuan might be clever, but when excited, it can’t control its strength. With such sharp claws, if it were to scratch someone, who could bear it?
Seeing this, Liu Tinglan hurriedly let go of Mo Yan, flung back the blankets, and dove into the still warm bed, even attempting to shove Mao Tuan back in.
Watching Mao Tuan’s "I refuse" expression, Mo Yan couldn’t help but laugh again, saying to her friend, "Look at you, you’re just like a hoodlum on the street forcing yourself on young girls; don’t lead my Mao Tuan astray."
Teased by her friend and utterly uncooperative, Mao Tuan, Liu Tinglan finally gave up, sprawled out on the bed, and with a pleased sigh, glared at Mo Yan complaining, "You heartless thing, not coming to see me for so many days, I’ve been bored to death."
Mo Yan quickly pleaded, "Isn’t it just that I’ve been tied up with things at home and couldn’t leave? Besides, with the heavy snow, how did you manage to come here?"
"Oh please, you’re just lazy and looking for excuses," Liu Tinglan pierced through her friend’s lie without mincing words, huffing, "The snow was too thick for the carriage, so I came on Horse."
Liu Tinglan didn’t know how to ride a horse; she just sat on the horseback while her family’s Coachman led the reins in front.
Mo Yan understood, feeling somewhat guilty. It was easier for her to go into town to visit her friend than it was for her friend to come out to her place, for Mao Tuan and the others’ speed was no joke, even in knee-deep snow, they would be faster than Horse.
