Chapter 1095: Chapter 350: Proposal
"Eldest Sister, please go and talk to father, and convince him to let me go to school tomorrow. If I stay at home any longer, I’ll start to mold!" Zhenzhen ran into the study, hugging her eldest sister’s arm, acting pitifully spoiled.
Watching helplessly as a large drop of ink slowly spread across the paper, Mo Yan was extremely frustrated. She set the pen aside, crumpled the paper into a ball, and tossed it into the wastepaper basket, planning to rewrite it later.
Feeling guilty, Zhenzhen stuck out her tongue and cautiously asked, "Eldest Sister, what are you writing? Is it very important?"
Mo Yan pinched Zhenzhen’s plump, rosy cheeks with mock severity and said, "I’m writing something that can save lives, the heart resuscitation technique that I used when I pulled you out of the water. Master San thought it was very useful; if someone drowns, they could use this method to save them. So, he asked me to write down the technique to teach it to the children at the school. Do you think it’s important?"
On hearing this, Zhenzhen nodded with a gloomy little face: "Important!"
Mo Yan took another opportunity to pinch her little brother’s crumpled face, secretly marveling at the delightful feel of it.
After several months of recovery in the Space without gaining weight, Zhenzhen had "awoken" and been fed plenty of soups every day. In just over ten days, his originally plump cheeks became even more adorable, turning a healthy pinkish hue that made them irresistible to pinch.
Zhenzhen knew he couldn’t escape his eldest sister’s "Magical Claw" and stood still, letting her pinch as much as she liked. Once she was satisfied, Zhenzhen continued to plead, "Eldest Sister, please talk to father about letting me go to school tomorrow. I’ve already missed so much of my studies, and I’m afraid Master won’t accept me if I don’t return soon."
Mo Yan, having indulged her tactile whims, was in a particularly agreeable mood and promptly agreed to her brother’s request, "I’ll talk to father during dinner, but I can’t guarantee that he’ll agree."
Hearing that, Zhenzhen hugged his eldest sister’s arm gratefully and said, "I knew you were the best, Eldest Sister. Everyone else nearly treats me like a baby still swaddled in blankets, wishing I’d stay in bed all day, not intending to leave for anywhere. Even Xin Er is indulging me—she doesn’t argue with me anymore. Truly, it’s so dull."
Mo Yan poked Zhenzhen’s forehead with a hint of annoyance and scolded with a laugh, "Back when you fought with Xin Er, you rarely ever won. Who was it that came to me crying and begging me to mediate? Now that Xin Er has stopped arguing with you, you’re suddenly uncomfortable."
Zhenzhen scratched his head and gave a goofy grin, but paired with his round face, his smile appeared both silly and endearing, showing none of his usual cunning.
During lunch, Zhenzhen kept making eyes at Mo Yan sitting across him, afraid she might forget what she promised.
Mo Yan didn’t notice, but Mo Qingze did, mistaking Zhenzhen’s eye signals for discomfort. He promptly put down his bowl and asked gently, "Zhenzhen, is there something wrong with your eyes?"
As soon as these words were spoken, everyone at the table stopped eating and looked at Zhenzhen anxiously.
It was no wonder everyone was so nervous—ever since Zhenzhen had almost drowned and then revived, except for Mo Yan, others had been on edge, worried that Zhenzhen might have been left with some lingering illness, ready to strike at any moment.
Even Mo Qingze, who loved yet never spoiled his children, had been frightened. Had it not been for Mo Yan’s repeated reassurances and numerous promises, Zhenzhen might have been confined to his room for an entire month, just like a woman recovering from childbirth!
Indeed, the child had a remarkable capacity for recovery. Except for the first few days after awakening, where his legs were a bit unsteady from excessive sleep, there was nothing else amiss. After resting for a couple of days, he was bouncing around, even more energetic than before he fell ill.
Mo Qingze, worried about cold air hidden within Zhenzhen’s body, firmly refused to let him go to school. And so, for over ten days since waking, Zhenzhen had no chance to attend school, under the watchful eyes of Xin Er and Lixiu.
Misunderstood, Zhenzhen was close to tears; he quickly shook his head and decisively dragged his eldest sister into the matter, "Eldest Sister just taught me that blinking like this is good for the eyes, so I was trying it out. My eyes aren’t uncomfortable at all."
Caught between her little brother’s pleading eyes and their father’s questioning gaze, Mo Yan helplessly nodded, "That’s right, he’s been cooped up at home for so long, so I found him something to do."
Zhenzhen nodded vigorously, his dark, round eyes imploring his father, "Father, I’m so bored at home. Please let me go to school tomorrow. Look at me, I don’t look sick at all."
