Mo Yan’s expression did not improve despite Zhao Dafu’s assurance. Her voice became even more stringent, "You don’t need to go through fire and water. You just need to settle the matter with Chen Xue and others for me and reclaim all those lands. Only then will you and your family have a chance to stay. Can you manage that?"

Before Mo Yan spoke, Zhao Dafu had already had a vague idea of what she might say, but he still felt surprised upon hearing it. He thought that Mo Yan did not trust their integrity. Yet, the task was not an easy one. Though reclaiming the lands was justified, the tenant farmers from Chen Family Village were not easy to deal with, and they would certainly not hand over the lands willingly.

Fortunately, the matter weighing on his heart had been clarified, and people like Chen Xue could no longer use it to threaten him. Even though it was a difficult task, he was now free to proceed. He was confident that he could successfully reclaim the lands.

Upon hearing this, Zhao Dafu immediately understood Mo Yan’s meaning and quickly replied, "Yes, I will heed the County Lord’s words and will not mention the County Lord in front of them."

Mo Yan smiled and stroked her face. After speaking briefly with her father, she took Shengsheng out and was guided by Zhao’s eldest daughter-in-law to a prepared room.

After ensuring Shengsheng was sound asleep and covering her with a thin blanket, Mo Yan returned to her own room.
