Chapter 891 - Chapter 891 【891】Doctors cant attend to other things
Chapter 891: [(891)] Doctors can’t attend to other things Chapter 891: [(891)] Doctors can’t attend to other things The elderly person sitting on the chair, with poor eyesight, rubbed their eyes and strained to see who was standing at the door, “Wengui, is that you?”
“It’s me, Grandma.” The teenager emphasized again, “The doctor has arrived, Mom and my sister can be saved.”
This time Grandma Wengui heard what her grandson had said clearly and, unable to believe it, stood up.
Xie Wanying walked into the room.
This was a self-built house in the countryside, rudimentary in structure, with a roof that leaked, pitter-pattering as rainwater fell on the stove.
Due to the small size of the house, anyone walking in could take in the entire room at a glance.
The two injured were not carried into the room inside, probably due to the smaller size of that room, so they were placed in the living room on two wooden planks used as beds.
“I made a call,” Grandma Wengui told her grandson about what they had done while he was away. “Your Uncle Wangcai has a cell phone and he called the village committee; they said they would send someone to assess the situation.”
Calling an ambulance needed consideration because it cost money.
Wengui seemed to understand but also not understand what his grandma was saying. What did she mean? Did they not have money at home? Were they not going to save his mom and sister?
“We need to borrow money first,” Grandma Wengui explained to her grandson. Otherwise, after they took the ambulance to the hospital, the hospital would require a deposit upfront. That’s why they must find the village leaders to locate the person responsible for the accident or have the village leaders accompany them to the hospital and explain the situation.
“It’s mainly because your father is not here,” Grandma Wengui said. She was too old to run around arranging things, or else there wouldn’t be so many complications.
“It’s okay, Grandma, I’m here. I brought the doctor back,” Wengui said, but his voice unconsciously waned as, after his grandma’s explanation, he clearly lacked confidence. He was underage, at best half an adult. What could he really do next? According to what his grandma said, it seemed like he couldn’t do anything.
The two of them turned around at this point and realized that the doctor wasn’t paying attention to their conversation and was busy attending to the injured.
There were two victims, one big and one small. The older female, in her thirties, had a clear open wound on her lower right leg, which likely explained the blood on the teenager’s clothes. The younger girl seemed to be under two years old, her little eyelids closed, and at first glance, there appeared to be no visible injuries on her body.
Xie Wanying quickly assessed the situation, took out a stethoscope and blood pressure cuff from her medical kit. Then the sounds of others arriving followed; it was the teachers.
“Do we need to administer fluids?” Yao Jie, the second to arrive, asked, preparing to give injections.
Following her in was Qiu Ruiyun, carrying a second medical kit which she placed on the ground and opened–it contained IV medication and needles. As Yao Jie started an IV for the woman, she glanced at the infant beside her and said to the doctor, “I don’t think we can administer an IV to this child.” She also called Wengui over to help hold the IV fluid bags.
When the doctor put him to work, the bewildered Wengui perked up.
Yao Jie, as she administered the IV to Wengui’s mother, fretted about the fluid situation for the child. She wasn’t a professional pediatric nurse, so she lacked experience. Moreover, the child’s shock appeared more severe than the adult’s, and although she looked uninjured externally, she probably suffered serious internal bleeding. Children’s peripheral blood vessels are harder to find than adults’, making it incredibly challenging to locate one in this child.
