Chapter 738 - Chapter 738 Are you a surgeon
Chapter 738: Are you a surgeon? Chapter 738: Are you a surgeon? The sound of surgical slippers pattering through the hallway rang out, and before long, Zhao Huaming, with his temples streaked with white, appeared at the door. His pupils constricted, and upon clearly seeing that it was his grandson lying on the operating table, Zhao Huaming’s vision went dark, and he nearly fainted.
The anesthetized patient’s heartbeat was stable, but everyone else’s was not. It was all too clear what could happen with Zhao Huaming’s arrival. Pairs of eyes turned towards the Chief Surgeon.
Tao Zhijie’s hands moved swiftly, his rhythm smooth, and there was a calmness upon his brow outside the mask.
A few assistants followed his rhythm, no one turning their heads to look at Zhao Huaming. Obviously, the Chief Surgeon did not allow it.
“Dr. Tao–” Zhao Huaming hesitantly squeezed out a voice, what he was about to say seemed completely unclear to him; otherwise, he would have run back to the hospital and explained everything to Tao Zhijie already.
Yell at Dr. Tao to stop operating on his grandson? His daughter-in-law signed the consent form for the surgery, what right did he have to call a stop?
Moreover, it was the patient himself who had agreed to the surgery, having entrusted his life to the doctor. If the doctor were to cease the operation due to someone else’s interference, it would be a betrayal of the patient’s most important trust–could such a person even be called a doctor?
“Please ask Professor Zhao to wait in the doctors’ office!” Tao Zhijie’s voice, warm as it was, carried a chill sharp as ice, effectively an order for an immediate expulsion.
“Dr. Tao, I–” Zhao Huaming struggled to speak, trying to convince himself to stay.
“Where is everyone?” He Guangyou called out on behalf of the Chief Surgeon.
It was clear that Zhao Huaming might faint on the spot if he stayed any longer. It was the surgical team’s responsibility to prevent such situations from threatening the progress of the operation.
The Circulating Nurse immediately made a call to ask for help from colleagues.
Someone swiftly came over to pull Zhao Huaming away: “Old Zhao, don’t worry, look, it’s not just Dr. Tao here, Dr. Cao is here too.”
Cao Yong? Zhao Huaming’s gaze fell on Cao Yong’s face, his eyes not only showing astonishment but also a hint of wariness?
Cao Yong turned his head slowly and cast a glance at him, his brows furrowing slightly.
All the young doctors in the room saw that look from Cao Yong and immediately noticed Zhao Huaming nearly drop to his knees, struggling to get up.
Xie Wanying’s heart thudded twice, tightening in her chest: she hadn’t seen such an expression from Senior Cao before, so stern that it pierced into the depths of any doctor’s soul.
“Are you still a surgeon?” Cao Yong asked Zhao Huaming.
Zhao Huaming’s lips trembled: “I am–”
“Then why are you sweating?”
Zhao Huaming reached his palm to his face and as he wiped it down, his hand came away slick with sticky beads of sweat.
“Go wash your face. It’s not like we said you can’t watch,” Cao Yong said calmly before turning back to his work.
The operating room required silence, not any form of dispute.
That’s right, wash your face. Zhao Huaming’s mind seemed to clear because of these words, and he turned and walked away.
With a whoosh, the door to the operating room closed tightly.
It was as if nothing had happened at all.
The puncture holes were made, the laparoscopic equipment entered the patient’s body, first to examine the condition of the liver and surrounding organs and tissues.
All eyes were focused on the monitor. In the doctors’ professional scrutiny, there was contemplation, anxiety, and concern.
Like everyone else watching the monitor, Yue Wentong suddenly realized that Xie Wanying wasn’t looking at the monitor.
Xie Wanying’s eyes were first drawn to the puncture sites on the patient’s skin, made by the Chief Surgeon.
Why was her focus different from everyone else’s? Yue Wentong wondered.
