Chapter 556 - Chapter 556 Be a good doctor
Chapter 556: Be a good doctor Chapter 556: Be a good doctor He wanted to be a good doctor.
Through his actions, he would show Aunt Wang that he would become a good doctor.
“Has he gone mad?” Lin Hao asked Yue Wentong, his eyes on Li Qi’an’s face and the frantic compressions revealing that their classmate seemed to have lost his mind.
Yue Wentong couldn’t bear to watch anymore and frowned as he turned away.
More people were arriving in the hallway. Upon hearing someone report the patient’s resuscitation had failed, Huang Zhilei, the chief resident, hurriedly got up and rushed to General Surgery Department Two.
The arrival of Huang Zhilei made Lin Hao and Yue Wentong’s eyes light up. Everyone knew that Senior Brother Huang was Senior Cao’s chief disciple from neurosurgery.
“Senior Brother Huang,” Lin Hao and Yue Wentong called out in unison.
Huang Zhilei adjusted his glasses, wondering why these two seemed so odd just standing there.
Looking into the ward, Xie Wanying stood by the bedside while a medical student, Li Qi’an, was performing cardiac compressions on the patient.
Doctors like Gao Zhaocheng and Sun Yubo had been standing all while in the ward too.
So had the nurses.
A whole team of medical staff involved in the resuscitation didn’t notice Huang Zhilei’s arrival, except for these two who greeted him as if heartily welcoming him.
Did these two have screws loose? As a neurosurgeon, Huang Zhilei, seeing light reflect off his glasses onto the bewildered faces of these two, turned and walked into the ward.
“You came?” Seeing his fellow townsman by his side, Sun Yubo asked in a low voice.
“If you guys are resuscitating, of course I have to come. I need to record it,” Huang Zhilei tapped the notebook in his hand, “Why wasn’t I informed as the attending immediately? Didn’t you need me here?”
Sun Yubo gave his townsman a look that said he didn’t want to talk.
Indeed, if no other support was needed, there was no need to call the attending.
But with the patient like this, notifying someone would have made no difference.
Huang Zhilei looked at Li Qi’an, who was on the verge of collapse, and heard the crying of family members nearby, thinking: What’s with this kid? The family is crying, which means they’ve accepted the fate. Why is he still pressing? Has he lost his mind?
“Mom, mom! Where is my mom?” A man’s voice entered from outside the ward.
Hearing this, Miao Fen raised her head and shouted at the man outside the door, “Zhang Hao, do you have the face to see mom?”
“Where is my mom?” Zhang Hao appeared at the doorway, spotted Aunt Wang lying motionless on the bed, walked over and called out, “Mom, mom?” Then, he looked up to see Li Qi’an performing the cardiac compressions and asked, “What are you doing to my mom?”
Li Qi’an didn’t respond to him, just bowed his head and continued with the motions of resuscitating Aunt Wang.
Suddenly, Zhang Hao pushed down on his shoulder.
Li Qi’an, already low on strength, stumbled backward and nearly fell to the ground. Fortunately, Xie Wanying and the nurse quickly grabbed his arm.
“Hey, what are you doing?” Seeing his student pushed, Sun Yubo shouted.
Zhang Hao’s hands patted Aunt Wang’s rigid body: “Mom, let’s go home, I promised you, I’ll take you home. Answer me.”
On Aunt Wang’s still face, it seemed as if a smile lingered at the corners of her mouth, responding to her son.
Watching his mother’s expression, Zhang Hao’s face grew ever paler, almost as white as a dead man’s.
“You bastard! Do you have the face to show up? You killed mom, you killed her–” Miao Fen raised her fist and pounded on her husband, striking him with all her might.
Zhang Hao remained motionless, perhaps feeling as if he himself had died in that moment, suddenly realizing that the person who loved him most in this world was gone.
