Chapter 456 - Chapter 456 【456】No Red Envelopes Accepted
Chapter 456: [(456)] No Red Envelopes Accepted Chapter 456: [(456)] No Red Envelopes Accepted “What was she doing touching your pocket?” Professor Li asked curiously.
Tan Kelin had thought about this question for a long time and could only come to one conclusion, “Someone must have told her that I have candy in my pocket.”
Bursts of laughter filled the office, unabated.
The meeting adjourned.
Xiao Yazhi stood at the office door, her little head patted by the palms of numerous doctor uncles, her small eyes sparkling with curiosity at every uncle in a white coat.
The child would have her surgery tomorrow.
In the evening, as it neared the end of the shift, the anesthesiologist, having finished the other surgeries, came down to the ward.
As foretold by the senior sister, it wasn’t surprising that it was Doctor Zhang.
As a routine before surgery, the anesthesiologist needed to personally visit the patient in the ward to go over pre-anesthesia precautions.
Upon arrival, Doctor Zhang found Xie Wanying. He wouldn’t fail to recognize this female intern, especially remembering how he nearly got tripped up by her last time.
“I’m Doctor Zhang from the anesthesia department. I will be responsible for her anesthesia during tomorrow’s surgery,” Doctor Zhang said, standing at the foot of the patient’s bed to Yazhi’s father, holding his daughter.
The father hadn’t seen this doctor before. However, Yazhi’s father greeted every doctor with politeness and said respectfully, “Hello, hello, Doctor Zhang. Please take care of my daughter’s anesthesia for the surgery tomorrow.”
I’m responsible for the anesthesia, not the surgery,” Doctor Zhang corrected the patient’s relative with an icy tone.
The patient in the next bed, seeing Doctor Zhang’s intimidating expression, gave Yazhi’s father a look: Be careful. Maybe you should give him a red envelope?
Yazhi’s father also wondered if it was time to give a red envelope to the surgeons.
“She’s going to have surgery tomorrow, under general anesthesia, so she’s not allowed to eat anything after dinner tonight. She can only eat after the surgery tomorrow,” Doctor Zhang informed the patient’s family.
“Yes, the nurses and Doctor Xie have already told us,” Yazhi’s father said honestly.
“What they say is their business, what I say is mine.”
Yazhi’s father clammed up, no longer daring to say another word in front of this doctor. It’s better to say nothing at all when facing such a doctor.
After giving instructions to the patient’s family, Doctor Zhang turned to ask the nurse, “Has her weight been measured? How much is it?”
“It has been measured,” the nurse reported her weight.
Doctor Zhang took down notes of the young patient’s height and weight, to determine the proper anesthesia dosage for tomorrow. The dosages for pediatric anesthesia need careful attention.
“Does she have any drug allergies?” Doctor Zhang asked another important question.
Yazhi’s father thought about his daughter’s condition and shook his head.
The child’s medical record likewise didn’t indicate any history of drug allergies.
Having asked his questions, Doctor Zhang turned to leave, ready to finish his shift.
Once he was gone, Yazhi’s father secretly pulled Xie Wanying aside to a corner and asked in a low voice, “Dr. Xie, do you know if Dr. Tan and the Doctor Zhang who just left have any particular likes? Otherwise, how much should I spend on a gift for them to be appropriate?”
Knowing that the family was asking her because they felt comfortable with her, Xie Wanying quickly waved her hand, “No need, no need. Doctors here don’t take red envelopes. If they do, they would be kicked out of the hospital. You absolutely shouldn’t do that!”
Yazhi’s father still wasn’t reassured after hearing her words, as Doctor Zhang’s expression had been too frightening.
“Some doctors are just more serious by nature,” Xie Wanying reassured the patient’s family, “Don’t worry, I will accompany Yazhi to the operating room first thing tomorrow morning.”
