Chapter 392 - Chapter 392 【392】Was questioned by their hospitals doctor
Chapter 392: [(392)] Was questioned by their hospital’s doctor Chapter 392: [(392)] Was questioned by their hospital’s doctor “Envious of our hospital’s emergency room? Which hospital are you doctors from?” A male emergency doctor pulled back the curtain and stepped forward to them, apparently having overheard their conversation and following along with their topic asked the two of them.
Following the voice, Xie Wanying and Lau Jingyun looked up.
The male doctor standing before them was about thirty, not wearing glasses, with a somewhat square face. His white coat was rolled up to mid-sleeve, revealing muscular forearms, and he exuded a handsome and capable aura. Though he didn’t seem stern when speaking, the two thick eyebrows on his face were quite serious.
“My name is Wei,” the other party said, pointing to the doctor’s badge on his chest.
Whether it was due to distance or lighting, Xie Wanying and Lau Jingyun could not see clearly what was written on his badge, so they followed his lead and said, “Doctor Wei.”
“Which hospital do you work at? Were these patients that were just brought in treated by you?” Doctor Wei asked.
Sure enough, there came the inquiry.
“We happened to be dining at that hotpot restaurant,” Xie Wanying and Lau Jingyun explained the situation at the time, “So–”
“Which hospital’s doctors are you?” Doctor Wei asked again, because they hadn’t answered his first question.
“We are not doctors yet,” the two interns said sheepishly.
“Not doctors?” Doctor Wei was surprised to hear this response, glanced back at the patients they had treated and sent over, and could hardly believe it, “Not doctors, then–medical students?”
“Yes,” the two nodded.
“Which medical college are you students from?” Doctor Wei stretched his neck, his serious gaze searching their faces as if he wanted to distinguish their features clearly.
Their interrogative stance made Xie Wanying and Lau Jingyun’s hearts pound: What’s going on?
“Come here, tell me, who was the first to attend to the collapsed elderly man. Stand up,” Doctor Wei gestured for them to rise.
Concerned about the patient’s condition, Xie Wanying stood up. Worried about her junior, Lau Jingyun quickly stood up as well.
“It was you, wasn’t it?” Doctor Wei pointed at Xie Wanying, seeing clearly that she was the first to stand.
“Yes,” Xie Wanying admitted, as the one who acted should be the one responsible.
“Come with me,” Doctor Wei motioned to her.
Xie Wanying followed behind Doctor Wei, with Lau Jingyun trailing behind the two of them.
They bypassed the partition and entered the emergency rescue area for patients. This place had the most comprehensive monitoring equipment, and even an imported ventilator stood ready to use in a corner.
Two hospital beds, one of which held the elderly woman who had suffered a cardiac arrest, and the other, the injured waiter with a head injury. Both were connected to cardiac monitors, had IV lines inserted into the backs of their hands, and seemed to have regained consciousness, their eyelids closed as they murmured groans.
Family members and the responsible shop manager were not allowed to enter and had gone to handle the hospital admission procedures for the patients and injured. Only medical personnel were here.
So it was evident that nurses were adjusting the drip rates, and two or three other doctors, unidentified in position–possibly junior doctors or medical trainees–were treating the patients under the guidance of senior doctors.
Upon noticing new arrivals, a group turned their heads to look at Xie Wanying and Lau Jingyun.
“She needs to be transferred to cardiology. Let me ask you, was it you who performed the chest compressions on her?” Doctor Wei started by asking Xie Wanying, pointing to the elderly woman.
“My second senior sister and I took turns performing the chest compressions,” Xie Wanying explained, “In total, it took less than ten minutes for the patient’s heartbeat to recover.”
