Fallen General's Omega (BL)
Chapter 74: Fury

Chapter 74: Fury

I stand at the bottom of the stairs, the cold stone beneath my feet grounding me as the fury builds inside, rising like a storm. My hands are clenched into fists, nails digging into my palms. I barely feel the pain. It’s drowned out by the inferno burning in my chest.

Noelle’s tear-streaked face keeps flashing before my eyes, the trembling in his voice as he asked me if I loved him—if I would leave him. The sheer terror and heartbreak in his words. My star, my everything, had been reduced to that? By what? By who?

My breathing is slow, controlled, but the rage beneath it is simmering, threatening to break free. I force my body to stay calm, every muscle tensed, my heart beating in my ears, a steady rhythm of barely contained fury.

I look up, my gaze locking on the nearest guard standing by the doorway. He flinches under my stare, straightening up immediately. His hand shifts nervously to the hilt of his sword as if it could protect him from what’s coming.

"Summon everyone," I say, my voice low and cold, like the stillness before a storm. "Here. Now."

The guard hesitates for a second, blinking at me as if he can’t quite believe the weight of my words. Move.

"NOW!" I snap, and the single word reverberates through the hall like the crack of a whip. He stumbles, practically running out of the room to obey.

I stand there, rooted in place, my hands still clenched, trying to keep the fury from consuming me too quickly. I need to think. I need to be clear-headed. But all I can see is Noelle’s face. His tears. His broken voice. Someone did this to him. Someone made him doubt everything we have.

My vision narrows, darkening at the edges, and I can feel the primal urge to destroy building inside me, growing stronger with each passing second. Whoever caused this is going to pay. Not just with words, not just with apologies. They’re going to bleed.

I pace across the floor, my footsteps heavy and deliberate, the sound echoing through the empty space. It feels like the whole castle is holding its breath, waiting for the inevitable storm to break. Good. Let them fear me. They should.

Servants begin filing into the hall, heads down, trembling as they gather. Guards line the walls, their eyes darting nervously toward me, each of them stiff with the unspoken tension in the air. They all know something is wrong, but none of them dare ask what. None of them are foolish enough to approach me.

"Great. So will someone care to tell me why my beloved, whom I left for only a few hours, had his smile replaced by tears?" My voice is deceptively calm, the kind of calm that sends a chill through the room. It’s a deadly calm, a storm in waiting.

The silence that follows is suffocating. No one dares to move, let alone speak. Eyes are cast down, heads lowered, as if avoiding my gaze might somehow spare them from the wrath brewing just beneath the surface.

"Don’t make me repeat myself," I growl, my voice carrying a razor-sharp edge that leaves no room for disobedience.

Finally, a trembling maid, her hands clutching the hem of her apron, steps forward, her body shaking as if she might collapse under the weight of the tension. Her voice wavers as she speaks. "M-My lord... the Robbens... they came to the castle earlier. I-I saw them speak with Lord Noelle..."

The moment the name Robbens leaves her lips, my blood runs cold, then boils in the same breath. My mood darkens even further, my fists clenching so tightly that I can feel my knuckles whitening under the strain. But I say nothing. I let her continue, let her spill whatever fragments of truth she holds.

She stammers through the explanation, bits and pieces of conversation she overheard, details that paint a vague, infuriating picture. The Robbens dared to approach Noelle, dared to poison his heart with their venomous words. My hands itch to grab the nearest object and shatter it, but I keep my body still, every muscle taut like a coiled spring ready to snap.

When she finishes, the silence returns, thick and oppressive. No one breathes. No one dares look at me.

"Okay."

The word comes out slowly, measured, far too calm given the fury surging inside me.

"Now, may someone explain how the Robbens managed to get close to my husband?" My gaze sweeps the room, eyes narrowed, daring anyone to meet them.

The silence is deafening, and I can feel my patience slipping. I take a step forward, my boots echoing against the cold stone floor.

"Did you all forget that I am the master of this place?" My voice grows darker, colder, each word dripping with venom. "So why did your master’s consort have any interaction with those bugs?"

No one speaks. Not a single person in this room seems to have the courage to face me, to explain how they allowed this insult to happen. My teeth clench, my jaw aching as I hold back the urge to unleash my fury right here and now.

"It kinda defeats the point, doesn’t it?" I say, the mockery in my tone sharp and dangerous. "If I can’t even keep my own husband safe in my own home?"

"Normally, blood would spill." My voice is low, quiet, but each word cuts through the silence like a blade. I let it linger in the air, watching the tension ripple through the room. The fear in their eyes is palpable, but I offer no comfort, no mercy. "And it will spill. Just not yours."

A wave of relief passes over the gathered servants and staff, but it’s premature. They don’t yet realize what that means, but they will.

"All the guards on duty today," I continue, my gaze like ice as it sweeps over them, "are fired. You are never to step foot in this place again."

The shock is immediate. Several faces go pale, and a few tremble as if the ground beneath them has been ripped away. I don’t care. I don’t care about their loyalty in battle, their years of service, or their supposed dedication. They failed. And that failure has consequences.

"It’s out of consideration for the years we’ve spent together on the battlefield that I’m letting this go so simply," I add.

I pause, letting my words sink in, watching as the realization dawns on them. There’s no coming back from this. Their careers, their futures in this place—they’re over.

"Go. Leave before I change my mind," I say, my tone final, dismissing them like the insignificant insects they are in this moment. My patience is at its limit, and their continued presence only feeds the fury clawing at my chest.

The guards exchange nervous glances, then begin filing out, one by one, their heads bowed.
