Fallen General's Omega (BL) -
Chapter 185: Perfect
Chapter 185: Perfect
Thorne’s arms wrap around me tightly, pulling me against his chest. His hold is firm yet gentle, like he’s afraid I might slip away but doesn’t want to crush me. I rest my hands against his chest, feeling the steady thrum of his heartbeat beneath my fingertips.
"You mean everything to me," he murmurs, pressing a kiss to my forehead. His lips linger there, soft and warm, and I close my eyes, savoring the tenderness. "Sometimes I think I don’t deserve you, but I’ll spend the rest of my life proving that I do."
I smile, my fingers tracing small circles on his chest. "Thorne, you don’t have to prove anything. You’re already everything I could ever want. You’re strong, kind, and a wonderful father to Mirelle. You’ve given me more than I ever thought I’d have."
He leans down, brushing his lips against mine again. This kiss is slower, deeper, filled with unspoken promises and love that seems to stretch endlessly between us. When we part, he rests his forehead against mine, his breath mingling with mine in the stillness of the room.
"We should put her down," he says softly, glancing at Mirelle, who’s nestled peacefully in his arms. "She’s had quite the day."
I nod, and together we move to her crib. Thorne carefully lays her down, his movements deliberate and tender as if she’s the most fragile thing in the world. I watch him with a smile, my heart swelling at the sight of his large hands brushing her hair away from her tiny face.
"She looks so much like you," he whispers, his voice tinged with awe.
"She has your stubbornness," I tease, and he chuckles quietly.
"That’s not necessarily a bad thing," he replies, standing beside me. He slips his arm around my waist, pulling me close as we both watch Mirelle sleep. "She’s going to grow up strong and fearless, just like her father."
"And with another father who’d move mountains for her," I add, leaning my head against his shoulder.
We stay there for a moment longer, basking in the quiet warmth of the room before Thorne gently tugs me toward the bed. He pulls back the covers, and I slide in, the cool sheets a pleasant contrast against my skin. Thorne joins me, his strong arms immediately pulling me into his embrace.
"Do you ever think about the future?" I ask as I rest my head against his chest, listening to the steady rhythm of his heartbeat.
"All the time," he admits, his fingers tracing idle patterns on my back. "I think about you, Mirelle, what our life will be like. I dream of peace, of watching Mirelle grow up, of spending every night like this—with you in my arms."
I tilt my head up to look at him, my heart clenching at the raw vulnerability in his gaze. "That sounds perfect," I whisper.
"It is," he says, brushing a strand of hair from my face before leaning down to kiss me again. This kiss is softer, sweeter, like the gentle tide lapping against the shore. When he pulls back, he presses his lips to my temple and murmurs, "I don’t know what I did to deserve you, but I’ll never stop being grateful."
"You don’t have to deserve me," I reply, my voice firm yet affectionate. "We deserve each other. You make me feel safe, loved, and cherished. I couldn’t ask for more."
As the night deepens, the world outside quiets into stillness, but Thorne and I linger in our shared peace. I shift slightly, tracing the line of his jaw with my fingertips, marveling at the strong, steady man beside me. His eyes are half-closed, heavy with fatigue, but they soften as they meet mine.
"Thorne?" I whisper, not wanting to break the serene spell of the moment.
"Hmm?" His voice is a low rumble, vibrating against my ear where my head rests on his chest.
"Do you ever wonder what Mirelle will be like when she’s older?"
He chuckles, a deep, comforting sound. "Every day. I imagine her as a mix of us—kind-hearted and brave like you, stubborn and maybe a little fierce like me."
I smile at the thought. "I think she’ll surprise us. She already has such a strong spirit, even now."
"She’s extraordinary," he agrees, his hand moving to rest on mine, which is splayed across his chest. "But she’ll always be our little girl, no matter what."
There’s a protective edge to his voice, and I glance up at him. His gaze is distant, as if he’s imagining all the dangers that could ever come her way.
"She’ll have us," I remind him softly.
His eyes refocus on me, filled with a depth of emotion that makes my breath hitch. "You’re right. With you as her father, she’ll be unstoppable."
"And with you as her father, she’ll be the most spoilt," I counter, leaning up to press a kiss to his lips. It’s a brief kiss, but he pulls me closer, his lips lingering on mine as if he can’t bear to let go.
When we part, his voice is low and earnest. "Noelle, you’ve changed everything for me. Before you, I thought my life was set—cold, empty, just duty and survival. But you brought warmth, laughter, and purpose."
I touch his cheek, my thumb brushing over the faint stubble there. "You changed everything for me too. You gave me a place to belong, a home, and a family. I never thought I’d have that."
His arms tighten around me, as if trying to shield me from the ghosts of the past. "I’ll spend every day making sure you never feel alone again."
I lean into his embrace, my heart full. "And I’ll spend every day loving you, Thorne. Just as you are, thorns and all."
He laughs softly at my teasing, pressing a kiss to the top of my head. "You’re too good for me, you know."
"I think we’re perfect for each other," I reply with a grin, snuggling closer.
We lay there for a while, talking quietly about everything and nothing—Mirelle’s bright future, the life we’re building together, the love that binds us. Every word feels like a thread, weaving us closer together.
Eventually, Thorne’s breathing evens out, his arms still wrapped protectively around me. I listen to the steady rhythm of his heart, letting it lull me into a peaceful sleep.
As I drift off, I feel a deep sense of contentment, knowing that no matter what challenges tomorrow brings, we’ll face them together—Thorne, Mirelle, and me, our little family against the world.
