"Don’t worry. Leave it to me. I’ll make Xu Meng forgive you and oversee your faults,"

"What if he doesn’t? I still have the feeling that he still likes that Qin Zhuzhu," Bai Qianhua spoke angrily.

"Then you should do something to capture his heart forever. Have you and him done...." Madam Bai used her right forefinger to touch her left forefinger, indicating intimacy.

From the looks on Bai Qianhua’s face, it seems like it was a negative. Xu Meng hasn’t touch her.

"Then tonight, I will...." Madam Bai whitened whispered something to her ear. Bai Qianhua’s eyes widened.

There was a knock on the door of the Bai residence. Madam Bai excitedly patted her daughter’s hands and went to answer the door.

Madam Bai opened the door only to see a man in a black suit. Immediately her face dropped.

After waiting for more than 20 minutes, Bai Qianhua became anxious. She got out of bed and went to the staircase to take a look.

She heard conversation and her mother’s voice. Bai Qianhua inched closer until the voices became clearer.

"I’m sorry, ma’am. Mr. Xu said that today he can’t come. He has something important to do but he’ll visit tomorrow,"

"Okay. I’ll see you out," Madam Bai acted politely and led him to the door.

Bai Qianhua’s face dropped. Xu Meng wasn’t coming. Madam Bai was about to go upstairs and inform her daughter of the change in plans when Bai Qiu called her.

Bai Qiu looked flustered and he was sweating profusely. He ran and almost tripped over the carpet. "Mom, something bad happened!"

"What’s wrong?! Why are you always getting into trouble? Don’t you know how terrible you looked like?!" Madam Bai was angry with her useless son.

"You should have seen the look on Bai Qianhua’s face!" Sanya laughed loudly, mocking Bai Qianhua.

"Okay. Stop. You’re being too noisy. I can’t concentrate," Qin Zhuzhu kicked Sanya out of her room.

"Hey! How can you kick me out?!"

Ever since Shentu Mingye and Qiao Nian move in, Skyward Peak Residence has become more lively.

"Fine! I’ll go back to the company. Anyway, my uncle’s arriving today to Shengjing. I need to pick him up,"

"Okay! See you!"

"See you in hell!" Sanya joked and waved.

"Hey, are you two going to stay here for Mid Autumn festival?" Qin Zhuzhu asked Shentu Mingye and Qiao Nian. She will have to make extra mooncakes.

"I’m going to work at the Qiao Group," Qiao Nian replied.

"That’s fantastic! You’re going to become rich!" Qin Zhuzhu said cheerfully. She noticed that Qiao Nian seemed a little distracted lately.

"What’s wrong? It’s going to be mid autumn festival soon," Qin Zhuzhu looked at her concernly.

Then she wondered could it be because Qiao Nian will be spending the festival alone? Mid autumn festival was for families to reunite.

"Nothing. I’m just nervous. I’ll be working at the Qiao Group from now on. There are many enemies there. I’m afraid...."

"Don’t be afraid. If anyone bullies you, tell me. I’ll let Sanya beat them up for you," Qin Zhuzhu boasted.

"Thanks," Qiao Nian was grateful

At some point, Qiao Nian felt her the Qiao family wasn’t her real family. She didn’t know why, but she had a gut feeling that she was an outsider. She somehow didn’t feel close with them.

Many hours later, in the Qiao Group, it was Qiao Nian’s first day of work. The other directors looked at her with contempt. It was obvious that they looked down on her. These directors supported Qiao Tan who wanted to the chairman position.

Pulan greeted Qiao Nian and led her to her new office.

"That’s your brother’s office," Pulan pointed.

Qiao Minde’s office had dark red curtains covering the windows. Qiao Nian nodded. Her brother’s style of decorations were unique. She was able to recognize any thing that belonged to him in a matter of seconds.

They reached Qiao Nian’s office in no time. Her office was near Pulan’s and ShenJi’s. Pulan gave Qiao Nian some easy tasks to get her started. Qiao Nian was to talk to some of the managers about their production lines. She also had to deal with some paperwork.

"I’ll be on my way, sister," Qiao Nian smiled brightly and left.

Qiao Nian was excited to start a new Chapter in her life. Finally she won’t have to feel useless and unwanted anymore. Qiao Nian took a deep breath, trying to bury all the pain in her heart.

Pulan watched her walk away with a neutral expression. She knew that Qiao Nian was trying hard to become better after what happened to her between Shentu Chu. She may seemed happy and cheerful, but underneath she was hiding her sorrows and pain.

Qiao ShenJi came up beside his wife.

"Qiao Minde is really weird. Why did he suddenly let Ah Nian work here? I don’t know what to say, honey, but I’ve always felt like he likes red way too much. Like it’s an obsession, a thing he can’t live without," Qiao ShenJi contemplated.

"Be careful of what you say. Don’t say such things like this again. If someone hears it, it won’t be good," Pulan told him.

"Honey, are you...." Qiao ShenJi looked at his wife. He noticed that her opinions on Qiao Minde were starting to change.

"ShenJi," Pulan sighed. "Are you still holding a grudge against him for pointing a gun at you?"

"He almost took my life! Until now I can never forget that gun, the model and serial number on it! Don’t tell me that you have forgiven him?!" Qiao ShenJi looked at her trying to catch a glimpse of her reaction.

But Pulan remained indifferent. She shook her head. "It’s not that. I think we should let it go. It’s been so many years. He didn’t do any harm to us,"

"Were you bewitched by his kindness to Ah Nian? That could have been a show he put on for us to see! Everyone says he’s a monster! A monster! He could be using everyone as pawns!"

"ShenJi!" Pulan yelled to shut him up.

Qiao ShenJi stared at her silently.

"Enough. I’m tired. We are in the company. Keep in mind of that," she said and strode off.

Qiao ShenJi watched his wife leave, he clenched his fists and narrowed his eyes.

One day, he would uncover Qiao Minde’s true colours!
