Chapter 138: Chapter 138: The masked man

Peixuan Ruxi pinched Lu Xiaochi’s chin and forced him to look into his eyes. Lu Xiaochi’s expressive eyes scanned his master’s face, trying to figure out what his crazy master was up to.

"Xiaochi, you may be the CEO of Lu Corporation, but you’re not worth anything in their eyes. At least, you’re worth something in mine. So don’t try anything funny. Keep that mouth of yours shut, or I’ll eat you. Got it?" he threatened, smirking evilly.

Because Peixuan Ruxi was pinching his chin harder and harder, tears welled up in Lu Xiaochi’s eyes. He swallowed and could only nod slightly.

"Good. Be a good boy, and Papa Wolf won’t eat you for dinner," Peixuan Ruxi said, patting his cheek with a menacing smile before walking away.

Lu Xiaochi gasped for air once Peixuan Ruxi was gone. He hadn’t dared to breathe while being threatened. He leaned against the wall, catching his breath.

Although he didn’t know why Peixuan Ruxi kept him by his side, Lu Xiaochi knew he had to run as far as possible from him if he valued his life.

Peixuan Ruxi was a psychopath.

Back at the Villa:

Peixuan Ruxi welcomed Qin Zhuzhu home as she stepped through the door.

"How did all my stuff end up here?" she asked, surprised to see her luggage and clothes lined up in the hall.

"I helped you move in," Peixuan Ruxi called from upstairs.

Eh, move in with a man? Didn’t he say he was afraid Ah Jing’s ghost might come after him? What kind of logic is this?

"What’s wrong?" Peixuan Ruxi noticed the uncomfortable look on her face.

"My chest feels a little tight. Maybe it’s because I haven’t been resting well recently," she said.

"I know what disease you have!" Peixuan Ruxi excitedly yelled, leaning over the railing from the top floor.

"What?" Qin Zhuzhu looked up and saw he was in his pajamas.

"Lovesickness," he replied.

"Is that even a sickness?" Qin Zhuzhu narrowed her eyes. At that moment, she remembered she had something to do and needed to leave the villa.

"It is! And it needs to be cured! It has the word ’sickness’ in it, right?" Peixuan Ruxi sounded like a knowledgeable professor.

Qin Zhuzhu rolled her eyes. "Don’t worry, it’ll be cured if I bring home ten thousand men."

"What?! Ah Jing’s ghost will eat me alive!" Peixuan Ruxi called after her, but Qin Zhuzhu had already left.

"Usually, she never gets this drunk. Not even when Xu Meng divorced her," Sanya said, thinking about how drunk her friend had been the night before.

"What do you mean?" Shentu Mingye looked at her profile. At this angle, Sanya looked gentle and more like a real girl, unlike her usual violent self.

"Lovesickness," she replied in a deadpan tone.

"You really believe what Peixuan Ruxi said?" Shentu Mingye scoffed, crossing his arms.

"Why not? It makes sense," Sanya shrugged.

"Follow me," Shentu Mingye suddenly grabbed her wrist and pulled her along.

"Wait! Where are you taking me?!" Sanya struggled.

"To have fun," Shentu Mingye grinned, looking at her like a shark.

At the Shopping Mall:

"I saw Shentu Hu meeting with someone," Peixuan Ruxi said, leaning against a pillar in a shopping mall and watching people pass by.

It was a normal day in Shengjing. The skies were bright, birds flew in the air, and squirrels chased each other in the nearby park.

On the opposite side of the pillar was a café. A man in a mask brought a cup of tea to his lips, blowing on it with a serene smile.

The dimly lit café only revealed his long legs and the lower half of his face as he sat in the shadows.

"Who?"

"Qiao Minde," Peixuan Ruxi replied.

"Qiao Minde?"

"Wasn’t Qiao Minde supposed to be overseas? When did he return?" a voice said from behind. A man walked into the café holding an ice cream.

The man in the mask turned to face him.

"Who knows? We’re being kept in the dark," Peixuan Ruxi said from outside. Luckily, the wall separating them was thin, so their voices could pass through easily.

"Wear a mask, will you?" the man in the mask said.

"Okay. I’m wearing one. Don’t be so bossy. I’m older than you, after all," the second man said, pulling out a red fox mask.

"Are you kidding me? A fox mask?"

"Why not? You want me to wear black like you? Boring, so boring,"

"Be serious. Someone is monitoring Lao Xi, so he can’t help us. We can only help ourselves," the man in the mask said, putting his cup down and taking out a file.

He pushed it across the table to the second man.

"I hope no one sees us," the second man said as he picked up the file and flipped through it.

The file contained important information about the Qiao family.

"Then why are you saying it? I just realized you’re worse than me when it comes to cracking jokes," Peixuan Ruxi said, pretending to tie his shoelaces.

"Do you understand? We can’t make any mistakes," the masked man said, standing up.

"I know. Do you have to remind me so many times? You almost lose control whenever she’s around. One day, that girl will bring you to your knees," the second man chided.

"Hey, you two. No arguing. Do it at home when everything’s okay. I’m leaving," Peixuan Ruxi said. Then he walked off after tying his shoelaces as if nothing had happened.

"Maybe I should let Dad spank your ass again,"

"Don’t think you can play the same tricks on me twice," the masked man replied grumpily.

"Why did you have to do this? It’s so complicated," the second man complained.

"The more complicated it is, the better we can dig out the mole in the family," the masked man’s lips curved into a chilling smile.

"I need to go. See you in the shadows," the second man said, walking out of the café.

The masked man was left alone. He rubbed the two rings on his right hand, then pulled off his mask.
