Extreme Vigilance -
Chapter 39 - 39 Section 39 Unexpected Surprises
39: Section 39 Unexpected Surprises 39: Section 39 Unexpected Surprises When everyone was crawling after Shen Yue, they all felt dizzy.
When they had to jump down again, they didn’t have any confidence, they had no idea where they were.
When they heard Hai Mingzhu say it was the elevator they had taken, they almost thought it was a nightmare.
Could it be that they had just dreamt everything while they were in the elevator?
When the elevator doors opened, they saw a blurry figure of a woman standing at the elevator’s entry way and another elevator.
Hai Mingzhu immediately remembered, it was the same scenario when they first entered, were they back at the entrance?
Most people were dazed, they all stood closely to the elevator wall, alert.
Xun Jiasheng was the first to snap back to reality, shouting “Butterfly!
I knew…”.
He felt like he couldn’t escape Butterfly’s grasp in this lifetime.
Upon regaining his focus he stopped himself from saying “you must be here”, hesitated, and then said, “Miss Gao Jie?
How are you here?”
This woman was tall, her facial expression telling people to stay away.
It was the new CIO of Giant Industries, Gao Jie.
Everyone was more shocked to see Gao Jie than if they had seen Jesus himself.
They didn’t understand why Gao Jie would suddenly appear here?
Xun Jiasheng sneakily looked out of the elevator, seeing only Gao Jie was there, but he didn’t dare to get out of the elevator.
Maybe, Butterfly had taken over Gao Jie’s body now!
Everyone was peering at each other inside and outside the elevator.
Gao Jie showed no emotion, while those inside the elevator were nervous.
As the elevator doors were about to close, Shen Yue made the move to keep the doors open and was the first one to step in saying, “Aren’t you coming?
There’s no other way down, if you wait for the next one it’s going to take a while.”
Everyone hurriedly squeezed in, surprisingly the elevator didn’t overload.
Though everyone kept their distance from Gao Jie, and stood around the elevator walls.
Gao Jie stood alone in the center, making the spectacle extremely strange.
“Ms.
Gao Jie, don’t you think you owe us an explanation?” Zhou Dewei was the one to confront her first.
“About what?” Gao Jie retorted, with an icy tone.
Zhou Dewei was left stammering, not knowing what to make Gao Jie explain.
Everything felt like a dream, baffling and somewhat surreal.
Feng Jingye, full of fear, was looking at Gao Jie and said quietly, “There’s nothing to explain.” He suspected Giant Industries may have connections with the ghost, he thought wouldn’t it be better to leave this place first?
Tie Zheng had the courage to say, “Ms.
Gao Jie, looking at our condition, aren’t you surprised?
Don’t you want to know what exactly happened?”
The crowd looked like they had just been soaked in water.
Gao Jie turned a blind eye to this, saying, “I’m not curious at all.
I don’t want to know what happened.
I only know the elevator broke down here and I was responsible for picking you all up.
After all, we paid for you to be our security company, didn’t we?”
Her last retort had an unspeakable sharpness to it, leaving everyone speechless.
“The elevator seems to not have repaired itself yet, why isn’t it moving?” Hai Mingzhu, who initially felt cold, now found the elevator uncomfortably stuffy due to the number of people in it.
“The elevator isn’t moving because you didn’t press anything.” Gao Jie coldly looked at Xun Jiasheng, who was standing right in front of the elevator buttons, and said, “If you’re not capable of pressing the buttons, then please allow me.”
Xun Jiasheng didn’t dare to press the elevator buttons, who knows where the elevator would go next?
He squeezed to the side to make room for Gao Jie.
Gao Jie reached out and pressed the button for the first floor.
They started descending, and everyone suddenly found the elevator moving to be a surprisingly lovely thing.
But would the elevator really reach the first floor?
No one could say for certain.
A “ding” sounded, and when the elevator doors opened, seeing the familiar lobby everyone breathed a sigh of relief.
“How is the lobby so empty, there’s no one here?” Xun Jiasheng, though fearful, couldn’t help but remind others.
He remembered, there was another situation that could occur with the ghost causing hallucinations.
That was just when you thought you were about to get out, you were still on the thirteenth floor.
He was genuinely scared that Gao Jie would suddenly smile at him and reveal two sharp teeth, saying – Hu Jiasheng, let’s go for another round!
Gao Jie didn’t smile, indifferently she said, “Do you know what time it is now?
It’s three o’clock in the morning!
Do you really think this place should be bustling with people?”
Xun Jiasheng stayed silent.
Shen Yue suddenly said: “I think there should be an ambulance here.”
Gao Jie looked at him, “You’re absolutely right!”
As soon as she finished her sentence, everyone heard the sirens of an ambulance from outside the Giant Building.
It didn’t take long before they saw the ambulance parked right in front of the Giant Building.
It appeared some security guards had been informed in advance as they had already opened the side door, two paramedics carrying a stretcher were quickly approaching them.
Gao Jie pointed at Manager Song, who was still being held by Tie Wa.
The two paramedics understood, placed the unconscious Song Shiren on the stretcher, and then quickly left.
Everyone was taken aback.
Gao Jie looked seriously at Xun Jiasheng and said: “President Xun, Giant Industries believes that Manager Song Shiren from Peaceful Security, with whom we signed a contract, has serious mental issues.
He is not capable of fulfilling the contract.
According to the terms of our contract, our agreement with your company should be terminated immediately.
What do you think?”
“Mental issues?” Xun Jiasheng looked at Gao Jie with some fear, “Are you saying that Manager Song has mental issues?”
Gao Jie nodded affirmatively.
Xun Jiasheng, unable to argue as he felt Gao Jie and Butterfly must be on the same side, said, “Whatever you say.”
“Since the contract has been cancelled, President Xun, you should return the check.” Gao Jie reminded.
Xun Jiasheng gave a start, and though he was reluctant, he took out the now soaked check and handed it over.
Gao Jie accepted the check and walked directly back to the elevator.
Just before the elevator door closed, Gao Jie added, “Tomorrow…
no, the meeting scheduled for today is now at two p.m.
Please be punctual.”
The elevator doors closed, and it started to move up.
It did not stop at the thirteenth floor, but went straight to the top before the sound of movement ceased.
Everyone looked at the blinking lights indicating the elevator levels, feeling a sense of absurdity.
Shen Yue and Jin Xin exchanged a glance but didn’t say anything.
They left the building shoulder to shoulder.
Seeing their action, everyone followed their lead, feeling safer outside than inside the building.
Once Jin Xin stepped outside the building, he took a deep breath of the fresh and slightly cool air.
He sincerely said, “The air here is much better.” Looking around at the lonely street lights and the deserted scene, he commented, “The scenery of the city at three in the morning seems even more beautiful, don’t you think?”
Shen Yue and Jin Xin stood side by side looking at the quiet around them, Shen Yue smiled and said, “You lose the sense of novelty when you see it often.”
Jin Xin laughed wryly and said, “I almost forgot, your alarm is set at 2:33.
If you always wake up at that time, and cannot fall back asleep you would regularly see what the city looks like at three in the morning.”
He thought of Shen Yue sitting alone by the window waiting for dawn, and felt a surge of sympathy, but he did not express it.
“President Jin, Advisor Shen.” Hai Mingzhu, who had been following the two, finding them behaving like nothing had happened, finally couldn’t help saying, “Do you guys have nothing to say?”
“Say what?” Both of them asked back in unison.
Hai Mingzhu cast her eyes between the two men, eventually landing her gaze on Shen Yue, “Advisor Shen, at this point, are you still going to insist that everything started because of an anomaly with Manager Song Shiren’s mental state?”
