Chapter 253

As he was teleported to another place, Jake felt a brief, disorienting tug, the world around him warping and twisting. Emerging on the other side, he staggered slightly, adjusting to the swirling heat that enveloped him. From the cool atmosphere of the temple, he was sent back to a searing, lava-surrounded landscape that resembled the depths of hell.

Before him stretched a vast island, surrounded by an ocean of lava, over which it floated. The ground beneath his feet was rough and warm. The island spanned about three hundred meters, rising about three feet above the molten sea. The island’s surface was mostly flat, punctuated by jagged rock outcroppings that jutted upward here and there.

Jake looked around, but he couldn’t see any other pieces of land anywhere. The island he stood on was the only one, surrounded by a seemingly endless ocean of lava that bubbled and cracked. The air shimmered with heat waves, distorting the horizon. Bright orange and crimson hues danced over the molten surface, sending ripples of glowing light splashing against the base of the island.

Jake trode carefully, his feet crunching on the rocky terrain. As he climbed one rock outcropping, smoke began to curl upward from the lava at the island’s edge. He tensed as he felt the ground vibrating beneath him. He kept staring at the spot as a deep rumble echoed through the island, the lava roiling and sending tendrils of smoke upward.

He gazed at the bubbling sea, feeling that something was about to breach the surface of the lava. Just then, from the ocean of magma, a creature emerged—a colossal figure of rock and fire. The sudden movement sent splashes of lava spilling over the rocky surface, illuminating the surroundings with fiery brilliance. Jake stared in awe at the massive creature that had just revealed itself.

He saw that it had a humanoid body, looking like a golem. The lower half was submerged beneath the viscous lava while the upper half rose above it, towering high into the air. Jake assumed the creature stood on the floor of the lava ocean, and judging by how high it towered over the island, he estimated it to be about 75 feet tall.

Its humanoid form was muscular and robust, with limbs thicker than tree trunks, showcasing immense strength. The skin had a dark, rock-like texture, glowing faintly with red and orange hues that shifted and pulsed like the surface of magma itself. The heat radiating from the colossal creature distorted the air around it. Its eyes burned with fiery intensity, two glowing orbs that gave it a fierce and intimidating glare.

The creature’s eyes locked onto Jake, who stood firmly on the rock outcropping, a small figure against the monster’s massive form. He kept staring up at the towering creature. Its rugged skin resembled hardened magma, glistening with rivulets of glowing lava that dripped and cascaded down its body. Taking down that monstrous entity wouldn’t be easy, that was for damn sure.

With a thought, he summoned its description.

Special abilities:

1. Boulder Toss – The titan picks up immense rocks from the floor of the lava ocean and hurls them with tremendous force and great speed, causing destructive impacts that can shatter barriers and crush enemies.
2. Maw of Lava – The titan can open its belly, revealing a massive maw that spews a devastating fountain of lava.
3. Minion Summon –The titan can summon smaller magma golems. These tough beings, formed from the very essence of magma, obey the titan’s commands and serve as formidable foot soldiers, engaging anyone who dares to challenge their master.

Jake also used his Enemy Appraisal perk on the Magma Titan to learn its attributes and identify its weaknesses.

For a moment, Jake and the Magma Titan just stared at each other. The roar of the bubbling lava ocean echoed around them, amplifying the anticipation of the fight to come. Jake was trying to figure out the best way to take down such an enormous monster. His opponent didn’t wait for him to form a plan and was the first one to make a move.

The Magma Titan bent low, plunging its hands deep into the lava. When it straightened up, Jake saw it held a glowing, molted boulder in each of its massive hands. Those boulders were huge, heat radiating from them, causing the air to shimmer ominously. Suddenly, it cocked one of its arms and hurled the boulder at Jake, sending it soaring through the air and leaving a fiery trail in its wake.

Jake jumped from the rock outcropping and dashed aside. Just as he did, the boulder collided with the rock with tremendous force. The impact was so powerful that the outcropping exploded into thousands of sharp pieces, zipping through the air like shrapnel. It was impossible to dodge all of them, and Jake felt some pelting his back, embedding themselves in his armor.

The Magma Titan hurled another boulder, sending it hurtling through the air like a comet. Jake managed to dash out of harm’s way just in time. The boulder struck the ground with a tremendous crash, sending up clouds of dust and debris. Undeterred by two misses in a row, the Magma Titan scooped up two more molten boulders from the floor of the lava ocean, both dripping and sizzling.

One after another, the monster hurled the two new projectiles, aiming directly at Jake. Reacting with quick reflexes, he launched himself to the right, dashing aside just in time as the first boulder zipped past him. The second one collided with the ground, creating a catastrophic explosion of blazing molten fragments that scattered all around him.

For the next several minutes, Jake continued to dart from side to side, dodging the projectiles that the Magma Titan kept launching at him. It scooped them up from the ocean of bubbling lava and hurled the collected rocks toward Jake, each one glowing and radiating intense heat as it soared through the air.

Impacting the ground with tremendous force, the boulders created deep craters and loud thuds that resonated across the island’s surface. Upon hitting rock outcroppings, the massive boulders caused them to explode, sending shockwaves rippling through the area and scattering sharp fragments everywhere. Each explosion sent bits of rock and molten debris shooting into the sky like deadly shrapnel, cutting through the air with hissing sounds.

The Magma Titan hurled projectiles with tremendous force, causing them to burrow deep into the ground and shatter rock outcroppings protruding from the earth. Jake knew that if he were hit by such a boulder even once, the fight might be over for him. Therefore, he focused entirely on avoiding being hit, fully concentrating on dodging the deadly projectiles.

Jake skillfully weaved through the chaos, expertly maneuvering through the rain of debris. Occasionally, sharp shards embedded themselves in his armor, but they caused little to no actual damage. However, he was sure that a direct hit from a boulder thrown with immense force by the Magma Titan could easily kill him. The ground quaked beneath him, the heat intensifying as nearby explosions illuminated the surroundings with vibrant bursts of orange and red.

He was well aware that while the Magma Titan used its special abilities, all he could do was focus on defense. From his many past encounters with elite monsters, he learned that the best opportunity to counterattack arose when the opponent exhausted all three of its special abilities, entering a recharging state. Thus, he continued to dart around the area, biding his time for the perfect moment to strike.

Finally, the Magma Titan ceased hurling boulders at him. Jake stood at the center of the island, gazing across the landscape at the colossal monster towering high above the ocean of lava. For a moment, their eyes locked, intently staring at each other. Jake knew that elite monsters usually employed their special abilities one after the other, so he waited.

A moment later, the Magma Titan unleashed its second special ability.
