Chapter 1773 - Chapter 1773 Chapter 1010 Banquet and The Black Hand_2
Chapter 1773: Chapter 1010: Banquet and The Black Hand_2 Chapter 1773: Chapter 1010: Banquet and The Black Hand_2 “Through thousands of years of time passage, the power territories of the various Human kingdoms have constantly shifted. Rising and falling were but moments away; even if some kingdoms’ towers collapsed or some lines ended, the Three Major Neutral Organizations have never interfered in the affairs of the Human kingdoms, much less established their own dynasties.”
At this point in the conversation, the Old King’s face showed increasing puzzlement, and he questioned, “Why would they harm me? This makes no sense at all.”
“Your Majesty is not aware that during the time of your unconsciousness, a mysterious group known as the Black Abyss Brotherhood has emerged.”
Leo Ray, looking at the still desolate snowfield around him, then refocused his gaze and described to the Old King the affairs of the Black Abyss Brotherhood.
This included not only the multiple confrontations with the Brotherhood’s power users but also emphasized their manipulation of the Second Prince in a power grab.
In the end, Leo Ray also mentioned that the Kingdom of Saint Night and the Prairie Kingdom, which likewise underwent royal successions, also showed the hand of the Black Abyss Brotherhood.
“Tier 5 Powerhouses abound, infiltrating the nobility, and even the Royal Family, attempting to covertly control a kingdom?!”
After listening to Leo Ray’s description, the Old King, with an expression of disbelief, exclaimed, “Black Abyss Brotherhood, I have never heard of this mysterious organization; what exactly do they want to do?”
“That, for now, remains unknown.”
Leo Ray’s gaze grew more solemn as he continued, “But from the words of No. 3 Black-robed Person in Galaxy City, it’s certain that it was this organization that poisoned Your Majesty with the intent to upset the established order and incite a Power Dispute, then seize the opportunity to elevate the Second Prince to the throne.”
“Your Majesty, Mr. Lane is correct; I hold the same belief.”
Bryan Nelsen spoke with a grave tone, adding, “The Black Abyss Brotherhood is too enigmatic; despite all my efforts, I couldn’t find any valuable information.”
“Who could have imagined that things would be this way… That foolish younger brother, actually seduced and manipulated by this mysterious organization!”
The Old King felt a surge of indignation in his heart but couldn’t help but sigh with relief as well.
Thanks to the intervention of the powerful otherworldly youth before him, otherwise, the Coldflame Kingdom might have truly ceased to exist.
After a sigh of relief, the Old King’s brow furrowed in confusion, “I’ve never heard of the existence of the Black Abyss Brotherhood, but their top combat power has already surpassed that of a kingdom’s Royal Family. How exactly did they develop and grow in secret?”
“Furthermore, how could a secret organization manage to persuade the arrogant nobility, even Royal Family Members, to join? What kind of magical allure do they possess?”
At this point, the Old King seemed to realize something and suddenly said to Leo Ray in an epiphany, “I understand now! No wonder Mr. suspected that it was one of the Three Major Neutral Organizations behind this. If the Black Abyss Brotherhood has the support of one such formidable neutral organization that transcends the Royal Family, then it makes perfect sense that they could achieve this.”
“Indeed, but there are still some aspects that are baffling, like the Brotherhood’s Tier 5 Powerhouses, known as ‘Asuras’, some of whom were active a thousand years ago. This has been confirmed by Bryan Nelsen, and there are surely no such active powerhouses in the current age.”
Leo Ray furrowed his brow, then helplessly shrugged his shoulders, “Although I’ve obtained some minor clues, they are not sufficient to speculate how the other party managed to do this.”
It goes without saying, the words “Apostles of the Reverse” on the attribute column of the equipment were what Leo Ray was referring to.
“All this is indeed beyond belief, but it is the most reasonable explanation.”
The Old King stroked his beard, pondering for quite some time before finally saying, “It used to be that in times of unrest by Foreign Races, these massive Neutral Organizations would emerge to protect the entirely of the Human Clan, standing above Royal Authority. I would have never believed that they would conspire to undermine such authority, but given these findings, it seems undeniable.”
“This further proves the terrifying nature of the Black Abyss Brotherhood and the forces behind them because they have not shown any clues, remaining perfectly hidden until they initiated the conflict.”
Leo Ray nodded slightly, then changed the subject and asked earnestly, “Your Majesty, now that you understand the crux of the situation, please try to recall if any representatives of the Three Major Neutral Organizations exhibited any abnormal behavior during the Banquet.”
“Understood.”
The old king’s resolute gaze grew distant as he once again sank into recollections.
“Lunch was held at the Second VIP Restaurant in Lion Castle, which is smaller and quieter, perfectly suitable for dining and conversation.”
“The lunch itself was just a common royal menu, with every person’s meal being exactly the same, prepared by the royal chefs without any particularities. The representatives from the Three Major Neutral Organizations brought no food or drinks of their own.”
“I distinctly remember that out of courtesy, the representatives from the Neutral Organizations left only empty plates behind, while it was I who, having a poor appetite, left some food uneaten.”
The old king meticulously recounted every detail, sparing no minutiae in his description.
“The attendees of the luncheon, other than myself, the well-trained maids and the head maid, included only Vice President Rupert of Cold Flame Branch of the Mercenary Guild, Vice President Elfred of the Cold Flame Branch of the Alchemist Guild, and Archbishop Siven, Chief Light Bishop of the Cold Flame Branch of the Hall of Light.”
“As for the specific content of the conversations, it’s just as I previously mentioned and there’s nothing worthy of note.”
After hearing the old king’s description, Leo Ray stroked his chin thoughtfully and nodded.
Since the food was prepared by the royal household and everyone ate the same, there was almost no chance for any indications of foul play.
Otherwise, the Mysterious Organization could have assassinated the old king at any time; there would have been no need for the Three Major Neutral Organizations’ representatives to be involved.
Of course, this did not rule out the possibility that the Mysterious Organization wanted to divert our attention to the Neutral Organizations, but after the recent series of speculations, this seems very unlikely.
“If it really was a representative from one of the Three Major Neutral Organizations who acted, then the clue must lie on the representatives themselves.”
Ariel Watson furrowed her brows, musing, “Just in terms of strength, since Vice President Rupert from the Mercenary Guild and Vice President Elfred from the Alchemist Guild are both at the Peak Level of the Fourth Tier, Archbishop Siven, the only Tier 5 Powerhouse present, would naturally be more suspect.”
With this thought, Ariel immediately dismissed her own idea, shaking her head and saying, “But the Temple of Light has always been committed to saving lives and has assisted the Human Clan at great costs during times of dire need, sacrificing countless bishops and priests, almost like a guardian deity to the Human Clan. How could they possibly be the hidden hand behind the Mysterious Organization?”
“Your Highness’s analysis is quite logical. Compared to the Mercenary Guild, which covets money and treasures, and the Alchemist Guild, which covets heavenly treasures, the Temple of Light is indeed the least likely.”
Bryan Nelsen thought for a moment and nodded, “With the leaders of both the Mercenary Guild and the Alchemist Guild not in attendance, if all of this was a deliberate act by Archbishop Siven, the only Tier 5 Powerhouse present, wouldn’t that be too obvious? With the caution of the Mysterious Organization, they probably wouldn’t leave such an obvious trail.”
“Mr. Nelsen makes a good point; I feel that it’s rather the other two Neutral Organizations, with both of their leaders conveniently absent, who seem to be deliberately shifting our focus away.”
Elusa tilted her head, lost in thought, “In other words, perhaps one of the other two Neutral Organizations, just to remove their own suspicion, has intentionally transferred their Tier 5 leader.”
“This possibility should not be overlooked. Everything was done in total silence; even I, being at Half-step Fifth Rank, didn’t notice anything. Perhaps Archbishop Siven has also been kept in the dark.”
The old king recalled the scene carefully and nodded in agreement.
“With the clues at hand, it’s still difficult to trace the true identity of the Mysterious Organization. Let’s stop speculating pointlessly for now; we have more urgent matters to attend to.”
Leo Ray nodded to everyone and then turned to the old king, asking patiently, “Your Majesty, besides these points, was there anything else noteworthy during the banquet?”
“Let me think it over once more.”
The old king furrowed his brow in thought and soon seemed to recall something, a flash of realization sparking in his eyes.
