Chapter 1685: Chapter 967: The True Face of the Mysterious Strongman Chapter 1685: Chapter 967: The True Face of the Mysterious Strongman “Is it finally over now?”
Feeling the dazzling sunlight above his head, Leo Ray took a deep breath of the refilled air and wiped the sweat from his forehead again.
However, despite the clearing skies and the cessation of the howling winds,
the faint sounds of battle cries in the distance and the ruins all around told everyone present that this brutal war was far from over.
Leo Ray composed himself, knowing there was no time to rejoice in his narrow escape from death; he immediately ordered the elders to scatter and check on the status of the Commercial Land Army in the Central City Area, and to bolster morale wherever possible.
He knew that although the threat of the Dimensional Storm had been neutralized by his own efforts, the legions had likely suffered severe damage after facing such dire straits.
After all, most of the ordinary soldiers possessed only Tier 1 or Tier 2 strength, and while they might not have perished, it would still take time to recover their combat capabilities.
However, no matter what, those critically important 12 Business Land Corps had clearly been saved.
With this in mind, a trace of relief surfaced on Leo Ray’s weary face.
“As you command, please rest assured, Mr. Lane!”
Following Leo Ray’s instructions, the visibly energized elders like Thomas saluted and immediately set out to their tasks without hesitation.
While carrying out the orders, all the elders were overwhelmed with gratitude.
For the sake of the 12 Business Land Corps, Mr. Lane and Princess Ariel had plunged into the Black Fog, risking everything, leading the charge, and ultimately rescuing every legion from certain doom.
How could such a miraculous grace not engender undying loyalty to the Sanders Family?
Watching the elders disappear into the distance, Leo Ray, now able to catch his breath amidst the crowd of his subordinates, approached the mysterious Winged Race expert and once again said gratefully, “This time, we truly owe our thanks to Your Excellency for your assistance.”
“Young man, there’s no need for thanks; I have already said that I appeared here because of you,”
the middle-aged Winged Race expert replied as he retracted his wings and gently landed in front of Leo Ray, nodding, “It was because of the Hero King Mark on you that my Detection Array here was activated, allowing me to discover the crisis in Kael Castle in time to intervene.”
“The Hero King Mark?”
Hearing the words of the Winged Race expert, Leo Ray was taken aback, then abruptly enlightened.
The Hero King was, of course, referring to King West from the Ancestral Resting Ground of Dragon’s Lair.
The Hero King Mark was something King West had mentioned briefly during their encounter, a mark left on Leo Ray that only a few of King West’s powerful old friends could detect.
According to King West, perhaps this energy mark, before it faded on its own, might be of some small help.
At the time, Leo Ray hadn’t paid much attention to this remark, considering that King West had fallen over six hundred years ago and all that was left of him were legends. He hadn’t expected that today it would have a real use.
“An old friend of King West from those days?”
With his mind racing, Leo Ray quickly found the connection in King West’s words and, astonished, said to the mysterious Winged expert in front of him, “Could it be that Your Excellency is that friend from the Winged Race who helped the Hero King establish the Ancestral Resting Ground?”
“Indeed, you may call me Ya Heng,”
the Winged Race expert named Ya Heng responded with a slight nod, “And it wasn’t just his Resting Place I helped that fellow establish, but also the Absolute Defense Barrier of the Royal Capital and this Kael Castle.”
“So, it is true? To think Your Excellency is the creator of this Absolute Defense Barrier,”
With the expert’s confirmation, Leo Ray and Ariel Watson looked at each other in surprise.
As the person closest to Leo Ray, Ariel Watson had already become familiar with most of his conversation with King West.
It was well-known, the Winged friend mentioned repeatedly by King West was a genuine Tier 6 expert!
“There’s no need for surprise, young people. As you see, my true form is far across the continent, and this here is just a special illusion,”
Ya Heng wobbled his ephemeral body and shrugged his shoulders, “Back then, I assured that stubborn fellow that the cities under the protection of my Absolute Defense Barrier would never be destroyed.”
“Now, since there was someone prepared to unleash a Dimensional Storm that could destroy everything within the city, naturally, I could not just stand by and watch.”
“However, it should go back to you for accidentally activating the Detection Array I laid out across the city; otherwise, by the time I, far away, would have reacted, this place would likely have become nothingness.”
Ya Heng nodded at Leo Ray, adding, “Even though that commendable individual has fallen for quite some time, the Winged do not go back on their word.”
“That merely an illusion could match all the experts by my side, it seems King West had many harrowing adventures back then, and that’s how he met such a formidable ally,”
Leo Ray thought to himself and nodded to Ya Heng, “Your Excellency’s dedication to keeping promises is truly admirable. You have indeed helped resolve a great trouble, so please allow me, on behalf of the hundreds of thousands of soldiers in the city, to thank Your Excellency once again for stepping in to assist.”
