Eternal Tale
Ch. 314 - Mine a little more, but never be too greedy

Chen Xun gazed into the depths of the darkness, his eyes filled with contemplation as a thought surfaced in his mind:

"Three-Eyed Beings… I’ll remember you. Your lives are all in my hands."

"When the time comes to send you back to your clan, shouldn’t they at least offer me a few of these sealing stones in return?"

"Hmm, makes sense. If your race turns out to be too arrogant, then you can just stay asleep here forever."

A cold smile crept across his lips as he cast a deep glance toward the abyss below; there were at least a thousand of those three-eyed beings down there.

Yet, when he attempted to examine them through his transformed divine apertures, his vision grew hazy instead. It seemed these sealing stones also served as a natural concealment.

Who would have thought the cultivation world would birth oddities like Chen Xun and the big black ox—able to see through everything with perfect clarity?

Time flew by in the blink of an eye. They had been harvesting all the way until year’s end, completely losing track of time and exhaustion. If the system hadn’t reminded Chen Xun to allocate his stat points, he wouldn’t have even noticed.

As expected, both he and the big black ox invested their Longevity Points into defense.

Meanwhile, Little Red was tirelessly transporting God-killing Stones, while Chen Xun sat on the deck cultivating and refining his divine apertures. Massive quantities of God-killing Stones turned to dust in the process.

The big black ox stood guard while also storing up the precious stones—they were the foundation of their capital when they entered the Greater World.

Hearing about the Three Thousand Greater Worlds, the big black ox couldn’t help but feel a rare sense of joy. Unlike Chen Xun, he didn’t want to live such a burdensome life.

When they had left Qian Nation, it wasn’t until years later that the big black ox realized—Chen Xun had always been working to carve a path for the younger generations. It was the same idea that had driven the big black ox to create teleportation formations, yet in doing so, Chen Xun had lost his freedom, forced to run around tirelessly.

"Moo…" the big black ox exhaled heavily, feeling a bit downcast in the darkness.

He floated in midair, looking toward the meditating Chen Xun, his gaze filled with complexity.

Deep down, he still missed the days when they knew nothing when they didn’t have to worry about the world or the heavens collapsing—when life was carefree.

Suddenly—

"Ximen Black Ox! How dare you spy on me?!"

"Moo?!"

A voice echoed from deep within the giant ship, startling the big black ox so much that his tail stiffened and his eyes widened. When did big brother wake up?!

"Don’t overthink it. We rose from nothing, and this world has been kind to us. Once the path is open, we’ll be free. Everything else will no longer matter."

Chen Xun chuckled softly, his eyes still closed. He understood the big black ox far too well.

"Besides, this is an act of divine merit—we are bound to receive a share of the rewards. When we reach the Greater World, we’ll finally live just for ourselves."

The big black ox’s eyes suddenly lit up with excitement.

"Moo!"

He exhaled forcefully, visibly energized by the mention of divine merit.

Back then, he hadn’t listened to a word spoken by Master Monk, but when it came to Chen Xun, he believed every single thing. He had long abandoned any personal principles; he simply followed Chen Xun’s lead.

"When it comes to living well, do you think your big brother doesn’t know best? Now get back to digging!"

"Haha, exactly! Ox Bro, what are you thinking so much for? With brother Xun here, we’ll definitely be living better than anyone!"

Little Red let out a sly laugh from afar, his claws and fur covered in God-killing Stones.

"What do these cultivators from this realm have to do with us anyway? Once the path is open, Brother Xun is obviously taking us straight out of here!"

"Haha… Little Red, you sneaky lion."

"Moo moo moo~~"

Chen Xun and the big black ox suddenly burst into laughter but didn’t respond further.

They no longer spoke. the big black ox went back to chatting with Little Red while mining, and Chen Xun continued his cultivation.

A dark glow surrounded him as the God-killing Storm began to rival the God-killing Power itself—his transformation speed was frighteningly fast, almost monstrous.

As for the method of crafting God-killing Artifacts, Chen Xun had once seen it in Yu Jingxin’s storage ring, but it was of little use to them. The process was highly intricate, and crafting even a single one carried mortal risk.

The primary reason the God-killing Artifacts are so deadly is that there are very few treasures in the cultivation world that can resist attacks on divine consciousness, and there are no spells for cultivating divine consciousness either.

But their God-killing Apertures are far more terrifying than the God-killing Artifacts. A simple gaze is enough to instantly pierce through an enemy's divine consciousness. Countless lifespans have been cut short by the God-killing Apertures.

With the transformation of twenty divine apertures, the God-killing Storm would blanket the sky. Even cultivators in the later stages of divine transformation would have their primordial spirits obliterated!

The recovery of the God-killing Apertures is just like ordinary divine consciousness recovery—it can be nurtured with one's primordial spirit or healed with spiritual medicine, and it’s virtually unlimited.

However, where the limit lies, Chen Xun doesn’t yet know. The Great Li Realm no longer has any opponents, and his enemies are few.

Six months later, Chen Xun woke up. The dark glow overshadowed the skies. Wherever he passed, the God-killing Winds in the Tian Duan Plains retreated as if they had encountered their natural enemy!

"Moo?!"

"Brother Xun!!"

The big black ox and Little Red shouted joyfully while holding piles of God-killing Stones, their faces covered in soot, yet their smiles were unusually clean.

Rustling sounds followed as the Crane Spirit's five-element branches extended, surrounding Chen Xun. Outside the giant ship, the branches were still entwining many God-killing Stones, completely unaffected by the God-killing Winds.

"Brothers, you've worked hard."

Chen Xun smiled slightly, his gaze sweeping around. The black and white radiance of the little crane was unlike anything he had seen—it could directly resist the God-killing Winds.

When they first arrived here, it hadn’t yet developed such wisdom. It seemed he had overlooked many things. As expected, the cultivation world’s cancerous entities were like no other, always changing.

"Moo moo!!" the big black ox joyfully dashed around the deck.

"Brother Xun, there are so many God-killing Stones here—more than the star-shifting mysterious ores we mined from the Forbidden Sea's Demon Nest!"

Little Red grinned widely, clearly overjoyed, as it had never received so many cultivation resources before. "It’ll take hundreds of years to finish picking all this up. We’ve struck it rich again!"

"Brothers, let's mine a little more, then we’ll leave. No more greed. Old Ox, you should focus on cultivating." Chen Xun stood with his hands behind his back, his eyes deep. "This is a gift from Heaven and Earth. We can’t sever the roots and ruin the merit."

Upon hearing "merit," the big black ox’s pupils shrank, and he immediately stopped.

"Moo moo!!"

Little Red, slightly confused, nodded. It didn’t entirely understand Brother Xun's words about severing roots, but it had always listened to advice and never shown greed.

Another half year passed in the blink of an eye. A deep, magnetic voice echoed from the depths of the gorge: "Brothers, let’s mine a little more, then we’ll leave. No more greed."

"Moo moo~~"

"No problem, Brother Xun!"

By now, the big black ox had emerged from his retreat, and Little Red was the main mining force. The more they mined, the easier it became, and their storage rings were gradually filling up.

Chen Xun and the big black ox exchanged an unintended glance, then added their Longevity Points to their defense.

Buzz!

The giant ship continued to sail slowly horizontally. At this point, a crimson tree was planted beside the little crane, and the had been growing for over ten thousand years.

It bore blood-red fruit, larger than a fist, with a pulsating rhythm of vitality emanating from within—clearly a natural body-refining spiritual medicine.

Little Red only glanced at it once before suppressing the curiosity in its heart. The two big brothers clearly had great secrets, yet they never hid anything from it.

Little Red also understood their intentions and had long considered them to be a true family. It just quietly transported God-killing Stones, never asking too many questions.

They continued mining, but when Little Red saw the bones of many spirit beasts turning to ash, its expression changed slightly, and it fell silent.
