Chapter 508: Chapter 459: Descendant of the Holy Land
Everyone was dumbstruck, as the Guardian of the Tenth Heroic Pass turned out to be from the Purple Mansion Sacred Land. How could this be?
Everyone couldn’t believe it.
Inside the Divine Palace of the sit-in meditation of that Ancient Great Power from the Purple Mansion Sacred Land, everyone had clearly heard that this Ancient Great Power intended to lead them all into the Primordial Immortal Realm.
That individual was a world-dominating Great Power, whose might shocked the Nine Heavens and Ten Earths and shone brightly through the ages; how powerful he was! Indeed, it was a Supreme Sacred Land, with profound foundations, and a cloud of formidable individuals. Even if they could not invade the other side, they should have been able to safely retreat.
But the Guardian of the Tenth Pass, although strong enough, was still far inferior to the real Immortal Sacred Land, let alone a Supreme Sacred Land; missing the corresponding foundation.
The impressive and valiant Gate Master shook his head and said with a wry smile, "To be precise, we’re just descendants of the Purple Mansion Sacred Land from over a hundred thousand years ago; those people from the past perished within the wheels of time."
"The Ancient Ancestor Great Power led our entire Purple Mansion Sacred Land in a campaign against the Immortal Heavenly Pass, seeking to advance into the Primordial Immortal Realm. Unfortunately, we failed, and along with that, the entire Sacred Land suffered a devastating blow. Although it didn’t perish completely, in the end, only a small fraction of our people survived, living within this Ancient Pass for over a hundred thousand years. We continued to propagate and pass down our heritage, until it reached us."
"But please tell us in detail," all the Heroic Masters changed color, even begging, because this matter was of great significance.
"The Guardians of the previous nine Heroic Passes have Heavenly Dao oaths, so they cannot say much. But our lineage received the intervention of the Ancient Ancestor Great Power, thus the Heavenly Dao oath was borne by him alone. Therefore, we are only partly affected and can reveal many secrets," said the descendant of the Purple Mansion Sacred Land. "But for the true secrets, I ask you to enter the pass with me."
The gates of the Tenth Pass opened, and the Alliance Army did not hesitate—perhaps confident enough not to worry about being ensnared—as they followed the descendant of the Purple Mansion Sacred Land inside.
This was an Ancient Pass, more like an Ancient City, standing gloriously vast before the Heavenly Pass.
There were quite a few people living within the Ancient Pass, more prosperous and powerful than the previous eight Heroic Passes, with men and women, young and old, amounting to as many as a hundred thousand people—a considerable number indeed.
And among the people in the Ancient Pass, whether old or young, none seemed to be weak; the whole city cultivated, with no real ordinary people. Even newborns had faint ripples of Spiritual Energy emanating from them.
Clearly, they had been nurtured by their elders using Spiritual Energy.
There were also many formidable experts, plenty of Saint Realm experts, and even Saint Master Level existences. Of course, there were plenty of Old Immortals as well, with powerful auras slowly awakening, filling the vast sky, stronger than any of the previous passes and even surpassing the overt power of some of the Immortal Forces.
All this astounded the members of the Alliance Army—the Tenth Pass indeed proved exceptional.
If a literal battle were to ensue, the Alliance Army was confident they could annihilate the entire city, but it would definitely come at an unbearable, blood-like cost.
The Gate Master shook his head, sighing lightly: "Although my Purple Mansion lineage is very strong, we are also bound here, unable to leave."
The Heroic Masters were silent, understanding that every Guardian lineage of the Heroic Passes was bound by a corresponding Heavenly Dao oath.
The imposing presence of the Alliance Army instantly drew the attention of everyone in the city. When they found out that the visitors came from the Heavenly and Myriads of Realms, excitement surged, and everyone rushed forward, filled with eagerness and curiosity.
The reason being that they all knew that their ancestors came from the Heavenly and Myriads of Realms, but they had separated from that place, dutifully holding their post on this Ancient Road, thwarting future generations from passing.
Everyone ascended the Heroic Pass, gazing toward the Heavenly Pass, and only then did they realize something extraordinary about the Ninth Pass. Although it was severely damaged, it possessed a special force which formed a majestic, invisible Heavenly Curtain that towered into the skies, separating the two sides of the Heroic Pass.
All the Heroes’ expressions changed, for they could clearly sense the grandeur and power of this Heavenly Curtain, which contained World-shocking Dao Power; even without deploying Forbidden Dao Weapons, it was immovable.
The Guardian explained that this was left behind by the Purple Mansion Great Power to withstand what was beyond the Heroic Pass.
Between this Ancient Pass and the Immortal Heavenly Pass was a vast expanse of land devoid of any life, just an endless plain filled with countless bones of the Human Clan, the Demon Race, and Alien Species—a countless, incalculable number.
To say there were mountains of bones would not be an exaggeration.
The dark red and pitch-black bloodstains had long stained the entire land lifeless and silent.
The Guardian declared that this was the battlefield where the lineage of the Tenth Pass’s Guardians fought against the Alien Species. The battle was vast and endless, with untold numbers of conflicts over tens of thousands of years, each accompanied by boundless death.
If not for the Tenth Pass being quite special, protected by the Heavenly Curtain, and the repeated support from the Guardians of the previous nine realms, it would have been breached long ago.
The Heroic Masters stared in amazement, able to see below the Immortal Heavenly Pass, were clearly several Space Wormholes from which evil miasmas spilled, and these Alien Species were emerging.
No one is clear how many alien species exist on the other side of the space wormhole; they keep on coming, as if infinite and endless.
Fortunately, the strongest alien species that emerge from the space wormholes are only at the Saintly Treasure Realm level, and even for these beings, descending is exceedingly difficult. Otherwise, it would be very dangerous.
The Guardian of the Tenth Pass would send out armies at regular intervals to sweep clean the blood-drenched battlefield of alien species and had powerful Super Experts stationed there. Whenever they discovered any Holy-grade alien species, they would quickly intervene to block them.
In the event of unusual circumstances, a request for backup would be sent to the city within. Generally speaking, the outcome was victory on the side of the Guardians. Even if there were casualties, they were rare, because over the tens of thousands of years, they had accumulated a great deal of experience and developed specialized countermeasures.
However, there were exceptions. Occasionally, an overwhelming number of terrifying alien species would emerge from the space wormholes, at times even greater and more dreadful than the Holy-grade aliens seen on ordinary days. Every such instance would result in significant losses for the lineage of the Guardians and a few times, Heavenly King Level alien species had appeared, bringing terror to the extreme and almost breaching the Tenth Pass.
Yet, such incidents over tens of thousands of years had been few and far between, and the rest of the time, such events were very unlikely to occur.
The existence of the ten Heroic Passes was to block these alien species from entering the Heavenly and Myriads of Realms.
According to the Gate Master, there exists a terrifying curse power within the Heavenly Pass, and it’s this mysterious curse power that binds the beings of the ten Heroic Passes here, generation after generation.
Perhaps to put it simply, all who attack the Heavenly Pass are subject to this curse, bound by the vows of the Heavenly Dao, obligated to guard over generations, preventing the following generations from attacking the Heavenly Pass.
There are three known methods to break the curse: either one’s strength must be overwhelmingly powerful in order to neutralize the curse power,
attack and overrun the Heavenly Pass, or advance step by step, pass by pass until a successor conquers the Heroic Pass and replaces them, at which point they might be liberated.
This, too, was a punishment.
"Is there really no way to completely shatter these space wormholes and permanently block the invasion of the alien species?" A Heroic Master couldn’t help but ask.
"Very difficult, almost impossible," said an Old Immortal from the lineage of the Purple Mansion Sacred Land, his tone laden with helplessness.
If it could have been destroyed, it would have been done long ago. Why would they wait until now?
Of course, the Heroic Master understood this, but still he hoped against hope to ask.
"Dare I ask, is the other side of the Heavenly Pass possibly the Primordial Immortal Realm?" the All Heroes eventually couldn’t restrain themselves from asking.
They had always been puzzled by this question.
"We don’t know," the Gate Master answered with a bitter smile, a response that surprised everyone present. Even the descendants of the Purple Mansion Sacred Land did not know.
"Could it be that not even an Ancient Ancestor Great Power could conquer the Heavenly Pass?" the All Heroes found it hard to believe.
Ancient Great Powers were extraordinarily formidable; with a wave of their hand, they could pluck stars and capture the Heavenly Stars, beings who were revered in the Heavenly and Myriads of Realms, their might echoing through the ages. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have been able to establish the Supreme Sacred Land.
If even such beings of the Great Power Realm couldn’t conquer the Heavenly Pass, how could they do so, even if armed with Immortal Ancient Weapons? They simply were no match for the Ancient Great Power.
"I’m sorry, everyone, in truth, we are not aware of whether the Ancient Ancestor Great Power conquered the Heavenly Pass or not, because it has been tens of thousands of years, and the ancient scriptures left by our ancestors are silent on this matter," the Guardian stated truthfully.
According to him, in ancient times the Purple Mansion Sacred Land indeed marched into the Primordial Immortal Realm, storming through nine Heroic Passes, unstoppable, with the Purple Mansion Great Power himself leading the entire Supreme Sacred Land into the attack and reaching the final pass.
Unfortunately, it was there that they encountered an unprecedented crisis, facing dangers never seen before, which nearly brought the entire Supreme Sacred Land to ruin.
But what precisely those dangers were, for some reason, the ancient texts were silent, as if concealing some Great Evil. Therefore, these descendants of the Purple Mansion Sacred Land had no idea what had happened.
This news discolored the faces of everyone present. Was it truly that difficult to cross the Heavenly Pass and enter another part of the Primordial Immortal Realm?
"The Ancient Ancestor Great Power might have conquered it because, according to the scant records in our clan’s ancient texts, there was boundless light being emitted at that time, blinding all. No one could see anything; it was only known that the Ancient Ancestor Great Power eventually retreated, covered in blood, and he then established the Tenth Pass and personally erected the Heavenly Curtain, separating the two sides," the Gate Master declared.
The crowd was shocked. What exactly had happened back then? Clearly, the Purple Mansion Great Power had faced a dire threat; even as powerful as he was, he had returned bloodied, bearing his wounds and possibly the blood of those who opposed him. All that was known was that he had retreated, not entering the Heavenly Pass.
Everything was a mystery!
