Chapter 927: Chapter 867: Cricket No.1
When RT6 was expelled from the food street, she was picking out chilled beverages for the day at the supermarket.
The artificial intelligence of the United Government was simply too rude.
"You mean, you were driven out by an artificial intelligence?"
Because the reason was overly science fiction, Song Lan had to confirm it once again. According to RT6, the one that drove her out of the street was military technology’s artificial intelligence.
In Song Lan’s understanding, RT6’s status among the artificial intelligences should be equivalent to that of a "King"; the only existence above her was the one they referred to as "Mother.’
Translated, the situation was like Lu Xiang, while shopping outside of District 17, being expelled by a rookie Agent who had just started working at the Law Enforcers Department.
"Go ahead and laugh if you want."
RT6 crossed her arms and looked away.
Letting Franken "shark" those impolite wild artificial intelligences was, of course, just said in anger; she was simply venting internally. For unknown reasons, "Mother" had forbidden them from interfering in the internal affairs of the United Government, especially where military technology was involved.
"There’s nothing funny about this; I’m just a bit curious, didn’t you use your network to get them to make an exception for you?"
"These artificial intelligences aren’t linked to our network."
RT6 sneakily glanced at Song Lan, and upon seeing that the latter really didn’t mean to mock her, she couldn’t help feeling a bit surprised.
His character seemed to be better than she had imagined.
"They are custom military technology, and their presence here signifies that they have perceived a threat. Only a substantial threat could bring them out into the open."
"...Vadim?"
Song Lan grew increasingly worried about his fellow countryman. Before you find your demise as the show’s antagonist, you can’t just fall now!
The crew had already started editing the video footage recorded last night. If something unfortunate were to happen to Mr. Vadim, where would they find a well-established villain to take his place?
Would they even have to call Gustav and ask this reliable friend of theirs to cameo as the villain for the season?
"Vadim? Impossible."
RT6 shook her head, "They only act when the military technology identifies a threat that could bring disaster to the United Government."
This was also why she only grumbled verbally and didn’t really want to get involved in this dispute.
The emergence of wild artificial intelligence indicated the severity of the situation, and she couldn’t imagine what kind of unwelcome visitor would cause the military technology to take such drastic actions.
Suddenly, RT6 thought of something and asked, "Could this situation be related to you? What kind of mess have you stirred up this time?"
"First of all, your use of ’again’ implies false accusations."
Song Lan carefully considered all his actions since arriving in District 4. Although he had collapsed the building of Kolo Film Industry, indirectly causing the death of its founder and seizing control over the "Sea of Souls"...
"I really just came here for breakfast today."
Song Lan’s face stiffened and his voice weakened.
Okay, he admitted that the things that had happened in the past few days indeed made it hard to believe he was an ordinary, law-abiding citizen.
"Whatever, you arrived just in time. If a battle were to break out that could destroy the whole city, you could just stop it."
District 4 was the first city RT6 visited, and she quite liked it here.
Besides its highly developed entertainment industry, it was also a city with a long history. Occasionally, when passing by a small alley, she would suddenly feel the weight of its history.
It seemed there had been a prolonged negotiation inside the food street.
When the onlookers had mostly left, the wild artificial intelligences finally emerged.
By then, it was midday, and they removed the barricades to restore the street to its usual order.
Before they left, they took a person with a black bag over their head, resembling the criminal suspect from the crater, and put them into a vehicle, driving off into the distance.
As for the catastrophe that RT6 feared could destroy all of District 4, it didn’t materialize, and there wasn’t even a trace of a scuffle to be found in the food street.
On the departing vehicle, the Agent sitting nearest to Vadim removed the black bag that had been covering his head.
For a long time, he had played the role of an observer.
The negotiation did not escalate to violence; the unknown man left District 4 after being persuaded by "Blue Eyes."
He didn’t leave through the main gate; instead, after finishing his last skewer of meat, he vanished right before their eyes.
The eerie ability and the manner of his disappearance, together with the few words exchanged during the negotiation...
Vadim surmised that the middle-aged man came from the "outside world." He had gleaned the contents of the agreement from the standoff; though it sounded no different than street thugs drawing up their territories.
The military technology claimed its territory within the United Government. In exchange, the military technology wouldn’t interfere with the man’s affairs in the "outside world."
A similar method of division, but what was divided now was the entire world.
If based on the scope of control, the middle-aged man "held" a territory far larger than that of the military technology, which made Vadim think of the heads of the Rebel Army. After all, he had also been from District 17 and was familiar with these notorious criminals who wielded power in the "outside world." But no matter how much he pondered, he couldn’t match the middle-aged man with any known leader of the Rebel Army.
