Chapter 858: Chapter 835: First Come, Later Arrived_2

RT6 paused before giving an example, "You must have noticed that the Councilors’ level of prosthetic implantation is generally not high, and the vast majority of them have implants solely to extend their lifespan, not for combat. This is because their bodies have long missed the prime time for prosthetic implantation, yet the ’Sea of Souls’ can help them find a young body that has been highly cybernetically enhanced."

In her view, due to the lack of human manipulation, the functionality of the ’Sea of Souls’ hasn’t been fully developed yet.

What it could do was not just store consciousness. Bioroids and Clones were not the only mediums to carry consciousness; it could completely transfer a councilor’s consciousness into someone else’s body, thereby completely replacing that person’s existence.

If the one controlling it now was not an autonomous program, but a councilor, such things would happen frequently.

RT6’s gaze on Song Lan became increasingly sharp, as she felt that Song Lan might have discovered a deeper use for the ’Sea of Souls’.

That might be even worse than controlling the entire United Government.

"Really, there’s such a thing."

Song Lan crossed his arms over his chest, feigning complete understanding. He politely waited for RT6 to finish before saying, "But the question I want to ask is not so complicated. I just want to know if there’s a way to duplicate some of the things I know into the ’Sea of Souls’ and then download them into... let’s say an artificial intelligence, for instance."

"Artificial intelligence? What do you want to use them for?"

RT6 became even more vigilant.

Song Lan steered the conversation toward her people, which reminded her of the wars of the Dark Age and caused her to worry intensely for her mother’s safety.

"I’m just asking, don’t be so nervous. Let’s say... and I declare in advance, this is just an example, I have absolutely no intention of doing it." While speaking, Song Lan deliberately looked at Lu Xiang, emphasizing before continuing with his idea, "For instance, copying my work-related knowledge into an artificial intelligence and then having it replace me at work. How feasible do you think this plan is?"

"You bastard, don’t use the ’Sea of Souls’ for such things! Just go to Tesla Tech and buy an AI for work!"

RT6 shot up from her seat.

Her body structure was different from humans, but at that moment, she miraculously felt as if she was choking—just moments ago, she was worrying about the future of her race, and yet this man only wanted to use the ’Sea of Souls’ to skip work!

What was more infuriating, RT5 had meticulously observed Song Lan’s life and discovered that this man had no work knowledge to speak of; even if he went to the office, he would just sit in front of the computer, open the video player, and watch movies!

RT6, irate, completely dismissed the caution her mother had instilled in them, "The navigation AI Nami in your department could replace you!"

To RT6’s angry accusations, Song Lan, rather than getting upset, seemed to have a sudden revelation.

So that’s an option!

His eyes lit up, "You really are a genius Mechanic, this conversation has been very enlightening."

But in his heart, there were still questions that needed to be resolved, "By the way, what’s the going rate for your artificial intelligence on that side, is a 28% split for substituting reasonable? If not, I’m open to negotiate 37%."

"Get out of here!"

RT6 waved her small hand toward the door, understanding more profoundly Lu Xiang’s assessment of Song Lan.

First of all, this man should not have been present at this serious discussion table.

"Let’s end this topic here."

Lu Xiang gave Song Lan a sidelong glance, "If I find a replacement AI in your office later, I’ll deduct your entire month’s salary."

Despite this, the conversation between Song Lan and RT6 truly had been enlightening.

The Bug Swarm had always posed a problem that troubled everyone.

Despite their vast numbers and the ability to morph to adapt to various environments, it was challenging to utilize them effectively in real construction.

Hatching individual units in the Bug Swarm could only carry out simple commands. Attacking and feeding were their natural instincts, but if you wanted them to grasp higher mathematics, architectural design principles, or engineering, that was asking too much of the creatures.

Medea and Ge Fu had always been conducting research on such projects. Although the individual units of the Bug Swarm cooperated willingly, the results were minimal.

They had to admit that intelligence was not the Bug Swarm’s strength.

Even their Breeders and Swallowers found it difficult to master such knowledge; research had shown that the current Bug Swarm network resembled a telephone line that was on call 24 hours a day, allowing anyone to contact any connected individual at any time and place. But even the best researchers could not teach students advanced mathematics over the phone, let alone Bug Swarm individuals whose intelligence was not even on par with the average human.

Yet the "Sea of Souls" could easily solve the bottleneck encountered by the Bug Swarm.

It could serve both as a prison for consciousness and a repository of knowledge, driving all consciousness out of the prison and using the space to store knowledge, then replicating this knowledge into the corresponding Bug Swarm individuals.

In doing so, they would soon breed insect engineers, insect firefighters, insect road workers...

Thinking of this, Lu Xiang’s fists clenched on her knees tightened.

She even found it difficult for a moment to imagine how much money this could save for District Seventeen!

Lu Xiang cleared her throat, and her other hand rested on Song Lan’s shoulder, "As you can see, I’d rather the ’Sea of Souls’ fall into his hands."

At least, the safety of the people could be secured.

This Dumb Bird had once again proved with actual actions that even with a weapon that could change the United Government, all he could think of was using it to help himself be lazy.

Clearly, Song Lan was very dissatisfied with her threats to cut his wages, still muttering "science changes life," "the advancement of technology is to liberate productivity," "as a working person, I urgently need to be liberated by cutting-edge technology," and the like.

However, to persuade RT6, Lu Xiang hid some of her concerns.

The very existence of this Dumb Bird amounted to a walking source of pollution, and now she was very worried that the "Sea of Souls" would be quickly assimilated by Song Lan and ultimately spread the virus of laziness everywhere.

She certainly did not want the Swallowers to breed a bunch of knowledgeable bugs that would only dig holes in the junkyard every day to rest.

RT6 was feeling somewhat ambivalent.

As a former archenemy of their tribe, she should be happy about Song Lan’s current state.

"I think this is the best outcome so far," said the Emperor.

He reminded RT6, "If the ’Sea of Souls’ is as useful as you described, then once those mutated creatures’ ’Father God’ learns of its existence, they will stop at nothing to get it."

What truly convinced him was the Scavenger Theory proposed by Song Lan.

Finders keepers.

This meant that if Song Lan got there first, the mutated creatures would have to get past him to obtain the "Sea of Souls."

In the Emperor’s view, this was like storing treasure in the world’s most secure vault.

According to his "Combat Evaluation Index," with the autonomous defense system of the "Sea of Souls," it would be difficult to withstand the onslaught of mutated creatures.

However, Gene Master had a different view than RT6.

RT6 always had prejudices because of past experiences, but in fact, today’s Gene Master was no longer what it once was, having absorbed those Shadows that had escaped from prison, and was actively learning and drawing upon Spiritual Energy.

After arriving in District Four, he had learned of the news about RT1-RT3.

Did these first creations of the Mechanical Gods still exist? Would they, like the Shadows, also turn to the Gene Master?

If considered in the worst-case scenario, they may eventually have to face a formidable opponent that possesses the advantages of genes, mechanics, and spiritual energy combined.

"Don’t forget, the real enemy is still hidden out there," the Emperor’s reminder seemed to take effect, RT6 pursed its lips, relaxed, and said, "If I find the Kolo Film Industry’s biological laboratory, perhaps I can use it to find the passage connecting to the ’Sea of Souls’."
