Chapter 833: Chapter 824: You Deserve to Die_2
"Valerian, do you know where all those righteous people gather? In the graveyard!"
Even several tables away, Song Lan could hear Zhuang Chi’s voice.
She was trying her best to persuade her colleagues to follow the example of the first group, who decided to mind their own business.
She certainly didn’t want to wake up one day to the news of Valerian’s death.
Zhuang Chi couldn’t help but sneer, it was 2167, and there were actually people who believed that justice could ultimately defeat the corporations.
If anything like that ever happened, it would only be the result of infighting within the corporation.
"Zhuang Chi, this is District Four."
Roger interrupted her.
Even though he knew in his heart that what Zhuang Chi said was accurate, everyone harbored some desires and illusions, which was why he had originally become a Law Enforcer.
"People call this place Dream Chasing City, maybe one day Valerian’s dream will come true."
He downed his drink in a single gulp, stood up, and asked for Valerian’s current whereabouts. "At times like these, she needs some help from her colleagues."
Lu Xiang didn’t interrupt the conversation between the three, focusing intently on tackling the giant soufflé in front of her.
By the time Roger stood up, she had just finished the last bite.
She neatly placed her fork on the empty plate, licked her lips with lingering enjoyment, and said, "Let’s go find Valerian."

Meanwhile, on the top floor of the Kolo Film Industry building, the founder over a hundred years old had armed himself to the teeth.
An entire floor was occupied by the company’s security team, and the head of the security department boasted that under such rigorous safety measures, not even a fly could get in.
Yet, he was still unsatisfied.
According to his original plan, he had asked all the rescuers of Five Stars and above under the company’s name to return and help him through this crisis.
He even, without regard for appearances, demanded his agents to stop all filming activities, leading the company’s managers to believe that a fear of death and obsession for life had driven the founder mad.
Just a moment ago, the founder received one piece of bad news after another.
Public opinion was against them, someone had leaked the news that the company covertly supported criminals. Though there wasn’t yet solid evidence, many people were already leaning towards the assassins, and some proactive individuals had begun to independently investigate crimes covered up by the company.
Therefore, Five Star rescuers didn’t want to get involved in murky waters and politely declined the founder’s request through their agents.
What truly frightened the founder wasn’t the menacing assassins, but an internal threat from the company—he could distinctly feel Kolo Film Industry slipping out of his control, and even some of the management had abandoned him, a shift that couldn’t just be attributed to some street-level assassins.
The real street-level assassins, like Troy, would be easily located by the "Skynet" system, just as the company could crush them as simply as crushing an ant.
But now, all signs indicated that these street-level assassins were just a smokescreen, with someone else pulling the strings behind the scenes.
Was it the Conservative Faction?
The petty and vindictive Hog Foster himself?
The founder thought of many names—Kolo Film Industry indeed had recently offended the Conservative Faction thoroughly with its promotional strategies, and he was well aware that while street assassins couldn’t kill him, his family or other companies could.
"What about that person who was taken away by the Bureau of Investigation, has he not confessed his accomplices yet?"
He asked the head of the security department anxiously.
Just back from investigating an abnormal case, the manager intending to make a name for himself in the company was startled by his boss.
Regrettably, he hadn’t brought back good news.
The detective in charge of the case, Catherine, was a tough woman. She didn’t give Kolo any face at all, leading to the head of Kolo’s security department waiting in the Bureau’s lobby for over an hour and, ultimately, not even seeing the criminal’s face.
He now suspected that the Bureau of Investigation was also targeted by the Conservative Faction against them.
"They said when they found Troy, he had taken some drug to knock himself out, and despite their efforts, the Bureau couldn’t wake him up," said the head of security.
Still, he wanted to show his professionalism in front of his boss, "They seem to be quite familiar with the Bureau’s methods and knew they would be captured, hence they prepared in advance. I suspect someone else is behind these assassins..."
"The reason I pay you a high salary and have you stand in front of me is not to hear you talk nonsense."
The manager’s presentation was mercilessly interrupted. The founder, apparently no longer concerned with appearances, scolded him, "What a bunch of good-for-nothings. If you can’t bring any valuable information, don’t waste my time!"
In the end, the head of security was sent away.
Aside from adding more personnel, he really couldn’t think of any new tricks.
What was worse, his expertise told him that they might not be able to ensure the founder’s safety against such a formidable enemy.
After sending the manager away, the founder flipped through his smartphone’s contacts.
Seeing the note "Guan Lili," he placed his last hope in her—at least, Guan Lili had brought one piece of good news.
