Chapter 792: Chapter 790: Great Treasure_1

After a fierce battle, the four team members reconvened on the island.

RT6 was somewhat disgruntled about being listed as a team member, but in the end, she "graciously" cooperated with the other three.

However, to the "Emperor", RT6’s self-imposed goal to find the Secret Treasure before her sisters seemed meaningless. Their thoughts were closely interconnected, and before they even set out, the mechanical army that had stayed in the city was already on their trail. Suddenly, everyone knew that the Paladin had the clues to find the Secret Treasure in his hands.

Out of sisterly affection, RT4 did not resort to violence, but their eyes, glowing with a blue light, kept staring at the Paladin, always making him feel somewhat uneasy.

"Cracking codes is an indispensable part of an Adventurer team’s job."

The "Emperor" felt a bit more relaxed.

He saw the people of Atlantis getting along well with the Bug Swarm. They arrived at the shore in groups and spontaneously organized a cleanup of the coastline. Once people realized that the bugs looked fierce but actually did not attack them, some of the bolder and more curious locals began attempting to communicate with the bugs.

This feeling was incredibly strange; they believed most people in the world would never encounter a talking bug in their lifetime.

As for the other part, those who existed as "flesh" sacrifices, were summoned to the City of Kings by the princess.

She had replaced her mechanical body and, at the first chance she had to move, she wanted to restore the honor of the descendants of the Atlantis heroes.

This was no easy task.

They had no names and had never been treated as normal people.

The princess’s invitation astonished them.

The descendants returned to their homeland but dared not touch anything around them. They just gazed from a distance at the city rising above the sea, wanting to engrave everything they were seeing into their memories.

The city seemed to be calling them, as if there was some connection between them.

"I’m sorry, this should have been your day," the "Emperor" suddenly remembered something and said to the Paladin.

The Paladin did not let down the princess’s hopes or the significance of his name. He returned to the sunken kingdom and, just like in the prophecy, ended the tyranny of the master of tides.

If they hadn’t called the Paladin here, he would probably be deep within the City of Kings right now, receiving the accolades due a hero.

Now he understood why so many people liked the superhero movies from Kolo Film Industry.

After suffering for a thousand years, the people here deserved a good ending. If this were a movie, the heroes’ team would also receive their ending.

"It’s nothing," the Paladin shook his head, "I’m not accustomed to such occasions."

Just like all the other "flesh" sacrifices, he too was used to living in fear, and couldn’t suddenly get used to being treated as an honored guest, especially since he preferred to be with his companions.

The people of Atlantis did not know about their deeds, nor was the existence of "Father God" spread among them.

What was certain was that the Father God Diago mentioned was a peculiar deity.

He did not like to be worshipped in temples nor did He like people forming churches to sing praises to His actual glory; He even did not intend to tell others that He had defeated the master of tides.

Father God told Diago that the master of tides had died a natural death.

He forbade the people of Atlantis to build churches in His name in any form, and if they did, Father God would command the Bug Swarm to smash the roofs of the churches.

"As for your Father God, we should all be thankful to Him," said the Paladin.

"I do have a way," the "Emperor" said, "Maybe I will see Him soon. If you have anything you want to give Him, leave it with me for safekeeping."

The bloody smell by the sea had dissipated, and the cool sea breeze was refreshing, "Father God doesn’t need your worship, but He is very interested in the local products here."

The three walked along the coastline, leaving long footprints in the sand.

After an unknown amount of time, the people cleaning the coast and the Bug Swarm could no longer be seen, and only a blurry silhouette remained of the city behind them.

This indicated that they had traveled far enough.

From the Octave Box in the Paladin’s hand came a melodious tune that the sea breeze carried into the distance as if guiding him towards the sea.

The waves washing upon the shore submerged their ankles as they stepped into the cold seawater, moving forward steadily.

The ocean had opened a path for them.

Some force held their legs, keeping them from falling into the sea.

At the end of the path was a gigantic whirlpool.

What should have been a catastrophic sight drew them closer instead.

Soon, they reached the edge of the whirlpool. The beach behind them was no longer visible, and the raging waves didn’t sweep them away.

The Paladin leaned forward, peering into the deepest part of the whirlpool, where a shining object was as dazzling as a gem.

"Ocean’s Heart."

The Paladin recalled a legend he had heard as a child, a story personally told to him by the princess.

"Countless years ago, the Adventurers of Atlantis braved their fishing vessels through the storm and arrived at the deepest part of the ocean, where they met the Sea God who safeguarded these waters. To reward their bravery, the Sea God bestowed upon them a gemstone, which was the origin of the Ocean’s Heart."

Even the princess did not know the exact purpose of this gemstone.

Some people believed it had always been protecting the people of Atlantis.

Paladin felt it necessary to clarify, "The Sea God mentioned by the princess is not the Tidal Master but a truly benevolent Deity."

After Atlantis sank into the sea, there were no more legends of the Sea God.

The existence of the Tidal Master had replaced all others; perhaps the Sea God they admired had been driven away by the Tidal Master.

"This is the mark of a civilization’s existence."

The voice of an uninvited guest entered their ears.

With the emergence of the voice, a small diving device appeared in everyone’s view.

This time, RT4 did not bring her mechanical legion but came here alone—she had changed into a human appearance, emerging from the diving device.

She curved her lips into a smile, which made Paladin nervously stand between her and the Heart of the Ocean.

This smile perfectly illustrated her identity as a villainess.

RT4 glanced at the "Emperor," "According to Kolo Film Industry’s law, the character that appears at the end takes the treasure and disappears into the depths of the ocean, setting the stage for the sequel of the film."

"Sorry, but there is no sequel to this movie."

The "Emperor" thought RT4 must have deliberately said this after eavesdropping on his conversation with RT6 through a consciousness link; he became inevitably wary.

Because according to the hierarchy, the RT6 they were facing was of the same level as the Tidal Master.

But RT4 did not look like she was ready to fight; she laughed and said, "But you don’t even know what it’s for."

"You know?"

"Every civilization leaves its traces, but few have contemplated why a civilization emerges in this world."

Coincidence, natural selection, or the guidance of fate?

"All the answers are hidden in this gem; perhaps there lies the answer to this question."

Upon hearing this, RT6 reminded the "Emperor" in his mind, "Don’t be fooled by her. By saying so, she also doesn’t know what the gem is used for; she just wants to take it away for research."

RT4 believed this could help her better understand the secrets behind this world. They seldom had the opportunity to touch the marks carrying the secrets of a civilization, which were often protected and sealed as the most important things of a civilization.

"What would happen if she takes this gem away?"

"Atlantis will decline."

RT6 said, "No matter how hard they try, they cannot change the inevitable end."

The "Emperor" took a step forward; the answer was already clear.

"Didn’t RT6 tell you I could paralyze the device on your body at any time? I know all the secrets about your prosthetic body, just like her."

"But RT6 won’t let you do that."

"Perhaps, but don’t forget, our duties are different. Among us, she’s more like a civilian staff member and is not good at fighting..."

The "Emperor" held his gaze firmly, and after a standoff, RT4 finally gave a wry laugh, saying, "It seems I’ve played the villain rather well. I indeed planned to snatch it away, but considering the face of the Bug Swarm, I’ve changed my mind."

A smart villain lives longer.

At least until they figured out Song Lan’s background, it would be unwise to rashly antagonize them.

"This Secret Treasure is much heavier than you think, because right now, somewhere in this world, someone just like me is eyeing it."

"You needn’t concern yourself with that."

"Watch your tone."

RT4 glared at the "Emperor," "Another purpose of my visit here is to meet you in person before I leave, after all, RT6 is almost taken away by a mere human like you, and as her sister, I should care about her wellbeing... If you speak to me like that again, I won’t hesitate to cast a vote against you."

"You’re talking nonsense, who’s been taken away by him!"

Before the "Emperor" could respond, RT6 bombarded RT4 with a barrage through their consciousness connection. She angrily tried to rise from her chair to stuff a ’T’ garbage file into RT4’s operating system, but considering the consciousness link was a public area, doing so would cause public outrage, so she reluctantly gave up.

The "Emperor" was at a loss for words, never expecting to be threatened for such a reason.

But considering the relationship between RT4 and RT6, he had to acquiesce to reality, "Take care on your way out."

RT6 had quite an extensive family.

She not only had an older sister but many other siblings as well.

"That’s more like it."

She watched the "Emperor," seeming to see the hidden RT6 through his mechanically indistinct face.

Although they were nominally siblings, they hardly interacted, and the consciousness link was more like a platform for sharing information.

"It seems you are quite happy living in human society; that puts me at ease, RT6."

She spoke, "Looking forward to our next meeting."
