Chapter 788: Chapter 786: Psychics Are Ultimately Going to Heaven_1
RT6 gazed into the distance through the "Emperor’s" artificial eye, and like the people of Atlantis who survived the catastrophe, she became confused.
If she hadn’t remembered incorrectly, the great war was upon them, and RT4’s troops had been ready from the start for the possibility that the kingdom might once again be submerged by the sea.
This was war.
Death and destruction were inevitable, but the approach of the mysterious Father God, spoken of by Diago, had dispelled all tension. For him, causing Atlantis to resurface was a trivial matter. All he asked for in return was for the "Emperor" to bring him some special products from the port the next time he passed through District Seventeen.
Perhaps...
To those beings occupying higher levels of existence, warfare might be no different from playing chess on a board or an electronic game.
RT6 saw more and more Atlanteans coming onto the streets, looking at the blazing sun in the sky with curiosity and joy, as their kingdom returned to its former state.
Meanwhile, the "King" had his electronic pet dog jump onto Song Lan’s lap, full of concern, "Teacher, are you alright?"
He had witnessed everything through the connection with RT6’s consciousness.
In this miraculous feat, the body of the "Emperor" was only a medium; they couldn’t calculate how much Spiritual Energy would be consumed because no one had ever accomplished such a feat before.
Song Lan said, "If it wasn’t an emergency, I wouldn’t have wanted to do this. It’s really too draining, I need to go have a drink of water."
Since Diago and his two companions had infiltrated the prison, he had been closely monitoring them, fretting over every moment, anxious that they might suffer a cruel fate if he wasn’t careful.
"Do you mean to say that all you need to replenish the loss of Spiritual Energy is a drink of water?"
The "King"’s brain was working overdrive; this was undoubtedly information beyond his comprehension.
It felt that this could no longer be called Spiritual Energy, but an evolved force that had transcended it.
If it were to be assessed by the United Government’s Psychic Research Handbook, in the "Rule Efficiency" section, the rating would probably be infinite.
He could lift the entire kingdom of Atlantis above the sea, which meant he could also easily throw several cities of the United Government into the sky and let them fall back down.
To describe such ability as world destruction would not be an exaggeration.
"Of course not."
Song Lan shook his head, "Drinking water is to replenish physical strength, I haven’t had time to drink any water all morning."
As for the depletion of Spiritual Energy?
It was like picking up a plastic bottle from a table for a moment; how much effort could it possibly take?
"Are you saying that the action just now had no toll on you?"
"Since you ask so sincerely, let me explain it to you briefly," said Song Lan. The artificial intelligence kept calling him "Teacher" and had even prepared a meal for them; Song Lan felt it would be rude not to teach him something, "An Egyptian philosopher once said that a king has the abilities of a king, and a cook has the abilities of a cook. There are no useless abilities in this world."
"Yes, teacher, I have heard that saying."
But it wasn’t from an Egyptian philosopher; the saying was most widely circulated at the Purple Wisteria Academy and some Psychic Development Institutions, often used as an excuse for the weaker individuals to console themselves.
From the "King"’s own understanding, he believed it was merely a beautiful vision in the mind, but in the real world, from the moment of Spiritual Energy awakening, Psychics were categorized into different classes. Most of them were considered "useless" or "without developmental value."
He had substantial evidence for saying this, "RT6 once spent some time at the Purple Wisteria Academy and Psychic Research Institutions to observe Psychics. In the United Government’s largest Psychic nurturing institutions, over ninety percent of the people existed merely to highlight that top ten percent."
"I don’t deny it."
Song Lan had never been an idealist, he never overlooked reality, "But now you can think in your mind about an ability you consider the most useless."
"Teacher, I have thought of one."
Though unsure why Song Lan would suddenly say this, the "King" still searched through RT6’s archive of abilities considered useless at Purple Wisteria Academy.
"Then bring up the corresponding Psychic’s profile."
"Done."
"Now think about what would happen if every item on their evaluation was changed to ’extremely high’ or ’infinite’?"
The "King" fell into a brief silence, the lights in the electronic dog’s mechanics flickered unusually, "Teacher, do you mean that their weakness originates from insufficient Psychic strength?"
It then retrieved all the weak and useless abilities documented by RT6 and found their common characteristic was equally pathetic ability panels.
Some had spiritual power that was only slightly stronger than that of an ordinary person, almost undetectable without special instruments, barely distinguishing them from non-Psychics.
"Abilities are just pathways that manifest Spiritual Energy, but it is Spiritual Energy itself that is the key."
This inevitably brings up the United Government’s notorious "stimulation" experiments, aimed at making Psychics demonstrate their extraordinary abilities as soon as possible through extreme measures, causing side effects that persist to this day with every Psychic research institution still adopting these misguided training methods.
"Valuing abilities while ignoring Spiritual Energy itself gives rise to the increasing number of ’weak’ Psychics, yet when the Strength of Spiritual Energy reaches a certain level, even the abilities that seem weak now can evolve in the process."
The "King" listened carefully to every word Song Lan spoke and recorded them all in its memo file.
At this moment, their conversation was transmitted intact via the connection of consciousness to RT4 and RT6, who unanimously stopped all their current tasks to ensure they could catch every detail.
Thus far, all the information they had gathered on Psychic Abilities bore the strong imprint of the United Government style.
In fact, even the researchers had no clue what the correct guidance method was.
All they did was employ stimulative methods like electric shocks and acupuncture to observe Psychics’ reactions.
Indeed, some Psychics had achieved rapid growth through pain, but many more were ’failures,’ driven insane by the process.
"Teacher, what exactly is Spiritual Energy?"
The "King," on behalf of RT6, asked the question.
The United Government summed it up as human spiritual power, an extension of human consciousness, but Song Lan seemed to have a different understanding.
"It is a means to Dominate this world."
Recently, Song Lan had been dealing a great deal with the Church and faith, and if those who had once received the "Whisper" were considered believers, then the higher world was the "Heaven" of doctrine.
In the end, they all had to shed their bodies and return to "Heaven" as pure Consciousness Entities.
"So strictly speaking, raising the island above the sea was the ’Emperor’s’ doing; all I did was help him temporarily reach ’Heaven’."
While speaking, his cup of effervescent tablets was already empty.
He found worrying to be a rather unpleasant business, as "Emperor," RT6, the Church of the Machine God, and the Lord of the Tides brought flashbacks of the past to his mind.
Song Lan said, "What you saw just now was his ability fully evolved."
