Chapter 754: 752 Chapter: Revelation_1

Diago’s burns were incredibly severe.

The "Emperor’s" cybernetic eye caught very weak vital signs, so weak that even if these orphans rushed him to the port’s hospital immediately, his life might still not be saved.

In addition to the burns themselves, he was also at risk of infection.

Death could take him at any moment, yet even Diago himself waited for its arrival peacefully, without any longing for life in his teenage eyes; he seemed to believe in the "better place" the other orphans had mentioned.

This made the "Emperor" suspect that the cult Father Godel had mentioned truly existed.

Fanatical faith could erase the fear of death, allowing one to face it calmly.

He saw all this in Diago.

However, he was not a believer in any deity, especially since he had only recently faced the "Deity" in The First Region, so he immediately bandaged Diago’s wounds and then carried him to the hospital at the port.

He wanted to save Diago and then learn from these children about "Father God".

Because he had a feeling that the "Deity" had not died along with the failed coup in The First Region, and that the high-level councilors had fled here with unknown purposes.

According to intelligence from "Seagull," they should have by now crossed the unknown waters and reached the mysterious Misty Archipelago.

And those eyes lurking deep in the ocean were still watching him.

From the moment he arrived at Silvermoon Harbor, he had been targeted by them.

The other orphans did not act rashly, letting the "Emperor" take the dying Diago away; an older girl told everyone to stay inside the abandoned building and not come out, while she followed from a distance.

After a long period of emergency medical care, Diago was temporarily out of danger.

However, the doctor stated that in order to prevent infection of the wounds, Diago would need to stay in the hospital for the next week to receive treatment.

She arranged a private room for Diago in the hospital, with a partition that was extremely hidden, a place that no one would normally pass by.

"The doctor at the port owes me a favor; you can stay here with peace of mind, she won’t betray you,"

the "Emperor" said to the little girl who had followed them, after settling Diago.

He had noticed her special characteristic.

When she was at the port or even in the hospital, people around her seemed to subconsciously overlook her presence.

"He is saved; no need to thank me."

"Why do you do this? Don’t you believe in ’Father God’?"

"I am an atheist."

The "Emperor’s" cybernetic eye shone with a faint blue light, and he quipped, "Looking at me, you should know that I only believe in science."

Fortunately, compared to fanatical believers, the behavior of these orphans was relatively normal.

They just stayed quietly and did not take any action to harm others.

Seeing the little girl fall silent, he spoke again, "But you can tell me about your ’Father God.’ Is it also related to the Tidal Church?"

"No, He saved us, freeing us from the clutches of the Tidal Church."

"Why say that? Haven’t the people of the Church been good to you?"

The "Emperor" deliberately said this.

He had also guessed that the Tidal Church harbored hidden motives for sheltering these orphans.

Silvermoon Harbor was always full of orphans, because going out to sea was a dangerous act for the people of this city; every month, some brave souls filled with a spirit of adventure would set sail from Silvermoon Harbor, never to return.

"Father Godel wants to sacrifice us to the monsters in the sea."

"Are you certain? As far as I know, Father Godel is a man of high esteem; he shouldn’t be capable of such despicable acts."

"Only in this way can their ships safely reach the Misty Archipelago, this is the agreement they’ve made with those sea creatures."

The girl shook her head and said with conviction, "We all saw it."

"Was it the ’Father God’ you mentioned who allowed you to see?"

"No, it was Kasha."

"Kasha?"

"She is our friend. She went out to sea with the ships not long ago. She has some special abilities that let us see everything she sees."

A Psychic.

The "Emperor" quickly identified Kasha’s identity, and indeed, not long ago, a ship of the Tidal Church had set out to sea, aiming to transport the high-level councilors to the Misty Archipelago to evade the pursuit of the United Government.

In terms of timing and events, everything matched up.

"What did you see?"

"Monsters as big as mountains, right above the sea."

As if thinking back to something horrifying, the girl hugged her arms and began to tremble slightly, "They threw Kasha into the sea, tentacles dragged her beneath the waves... Father Godel originally planned for us to go out to sea with this ship. It was Diago’s prayers to the ’Father God’ that helped us escape."

The girl’s explanation left the "Emperor" puzzled.

If this child was not lying, then it meant that the "Father God" she mentioned and the eyes in the deep sea were opposing entities, more like they were competing for believers.

"Who then told you about the existence of ’Father God’?"

The girl shook her head, "I don’t know, we heard a voice at night; it said ’Father God’ would save us, so you shouldn’t do this. Diago has suffered too much, ’Father God’ will take him to a better place."

"I doubt that, but you can try praying to your ’Father God’ again and see what He will say. I’ll stay here with you."

The girl hesitated for a long while but eventually did as suggested.

Previously, it had always been Diago who prepared for the prayers, and he was the first to hear those voices.

But if Diago was about to leave, then she would have to take over Diago’s duties, becoming the bridge between the children and the "Father God."

She took out the ceremonial dagger and cut her own wrist.

Her delicate eyebrows knitted together in pain, and her fresh blood flowed into the bowl. Afterward, she dipped her index finger in the bowl of blood and wrote obscure and difficult symbols on the hospital’s white walls.

These symbols were personally taught to her by Diago, who seemed to have long known his destiny and therefore made arrangements for after his departure in advance.

The "Emperor" remained silent, silently handing the girl a hemostatic spray.

The girl, facing the wall, closed her eyes in a praying posture.

The entire process lasted for about five minutes, with the "Emperor" watching the wall’s symbols the whole time; they did not change at all.

After five minutes, the girl opened her eyes.

Those clear eyes were filled with great confusion.

"What did your ’Father God’ say?"

"’Father God’... He told us to trust the doctor."

The result of the prayer was completely unlike what she expected, "He also urged us to be careful with protection, to beware of infection in our wounds."
