Chapter 741: Chapter 739: Gear_1
Rose’s attack missed, but it allowed Li Youqian to see the real hope that existed.
"Everyone, attack together, her power has diminished!"
Although he didn’t know the reason, he took action immediately. He had no weapons in his hands, and his Spiritual Energy type had nothing to do with Destruction-type, so he could only charge forward with his body.
He believed that Rose, as a Six Stars rescuer, must have also noticed this detail.
The distance she had been moved was only about ten meters; Trian wasn’t even able to throw her into those barriers made of plants.
No one in the world could imagine what was happening in the Holy Temple’s garden at this moment.
Two Six Stars rescuers, along with a group of Six Stars substitutes, were fighting side by side, and their opponent was an unprecedentedly strong enemy capable of warping space.
The scene unfolding before Li Youqian reminded him of those ancient epics, where one human hero after another, laden with their fates, challenged the gods.
The incessantly noisy Li Youqian caused a fierce light to flash in Trian’s eyes and distracted her momentarily because, in addition to completing her mission, the thought of silencing him forever surfaced in her mind.
Li Youqian was different from "Emperor"; his body had not undergone complicated cyborg modifications, and his physical and vital strength were only that of an ordinary person. His condition was even more fragile than an average person’s due to his chronic alcoholism and irregular lifestyle.
And her ability could do much more than just completely move someone elsewhere.
But that required relatively precise operations, which meant she had to divert some of her focus from moving the body of the god to dealing with Li Youqian. After a brief thought, Trian felt that using 1-2 seconds to shut Li Youqian up was a wise decision.
His loud voice and incendiary words always made it hard for her to concentrate.
Now, she had to multitask in three ways.
Controlling plants, neutralizing attacks, and more importantly, relocating a vast amount of plant life from The First Region.
Trian looked up at Li Youqian, who was getting closer, her gaze lingering on his neck. In a flash, she had found an opening.
As their eyes met.
She didn’t know if Li Youqian had anticipated his "fate" to come, but her ability had already locked onto his neck. In another second, or even less, a body without a head was about to appear beside her.
It’s over!
But just as this thought surfaced in her mind, the hand she had raised was firmly grasped, the strength from the wrist making her pause for a moment. She had calculated everything, yet she hadn’t anticipated that "Emperor’s" seemingly inactive steel body would suddenly start to move.
Trian didn’t feel any change in gravity. All she saw was an eerie and horrifying image.
The unexpected twist upset her rhythm. Her eyes sharpened as she extended the fingertips of her left hand, firmly grasped by the mechanical arm, and drew across the sturdy limb. The part holding her wrist vanished instantly, but it was this gap that allowed Li Youqian to come in front of her.
The man reeking of alcohol didn’t even have a proper attack method; he just lunged with his body.
No, that was just a feint.
Trian sensed the electric arc hidden behind Li Youqian, as well as his body becoming insubstantial.
Rose and Jasmine had used Li Youqian as bait. She had a premonition that if the battle continued, she would be at a significant disadvantage—she had to deal with Rose first, the most troublesome of them all!
Trian sped up time, focusing on the approaching arc of electricity. This time she didn’t defend, waiting for the arc to arrive.
Rose’s strike wasn’t enough to seriously injure her, but her ability could end the fight in an instant.
Trian stared intently at the flow of the electric arc. However, in the moment it reached her, it vanished, and at the same time, a strong sense of danger came from behind.
Even "Emperor" could not induce such a feeling in her.
She wanted to turn around but found herself immobilized in place. In a world where time seemed already frozen, her own time came to an absolute standstill. In an instant, an incredible name flashed through her mind—Hog Foster.
What was incredible was that the one who truly touched her was seen as nothing more than a clown in the eyes of others.
The stillness did not last long, only about five seconds or so.
However, when she regained control of her body, Trian suddenly coughed up a mouthful of blood. She, unlike "Dominate" and others, existed not merely as a Consciousness Entity, but the blood and burning sensation reaching deep into her soul indicated she was injured.
This body, which had undergone transformation and evolution, was actually wounded by an ordinary person.
The next moment, the belated thunder sliced past her neck.
Trian’s field of vision shifted dramatically, and the world spun in an instant. She watched helplessly as her body, no longer under the control of her brain, fell slowly towards the crevice in the ground.
"We did it!"
Li Youqian was so excited he could hardly contain himself, clenching his fists and looking up at the dome still covered by plants.
In the end, Trian couldn’t escape.
The head with eyes wide open and an expression that could be described as fierce rolled onto the ground, and at the same time, the blossoming "heart" seemed to lose its energy supply. The garden’s bright flowers were visibly withering away, and the plants that had enshrouded everyone like a barrier were also gradually dissipating.
But then, Li Youqian noticed an eerie scene.
Trian was still alive.
Not only was she alive, but facing this doomed defeat, a sinister smile appeared on her face.
"Something’s wrong!"
When the plants had dispersed, Rose only then noticed the anomaly beneath the clouds. Without knowing when, the vegetation that once enveloped the entire city had vanished without a trace, as if it had never existed, disappearing completely.
Hog Foster once said that the god worshiped by the members of the Fishing Boat Club was not Trian but a tree.
She finally realized the reason for the sudden weakening of Trian’s spiritual energy, as well as the true purpose of those plants—to prevent them from noticing the changes in The First Region. And the gap that had appeared on the ground was never meant to allow her to escape; in a losing situation, she had helped the "god" escape from The First Region!
Rose looked down at the fissure on the ground which, bereft of Trian’s spiritual energy’s attention, was quickly dissipating.
At the same time, the Holy Temple under her feet began to rapidly collapse.
The clouds began to flow, and the frozen gears of time also resumed their movement at this moment.
.........
It’s back!
Since gaining consciousness, the Old Tree felt, for the first time, the true joy of a narrow escape. It had once doubted whether Trian could fulfill the mission it had entrusted to her, but the facts proved that Trian did not let it down.
Although it could no longer sense Trian’s presence, all the sacrifices were worthwhile, and they had brought it an exceedingly generous return.
The absorbed nutrients had not disappeared.
Although it had been forced to flee The First Region, the ritual to become a deity was now complete, and it could at any moment create another being similar to Trian. The Father God’s plan could officially move on to the next phase.
It could soon make contact with its other brothers and sisters, and then—
Hmm?
The Old Tree’s thoughts suddenly halted.
Because it noticed something unusual.
The sky’s clouds were still motionless, and upon closer observation, an unparalleled panic once again enveloped it.
It indeed had returned here, but it seemed to have brought something else back.
The sky, the earth, the ocean, and even the air were all frozen in place, and this time, even it lost the ability to move within the stilled time. Everything it could feel turned into an absolutely still image.
Then, a storm descended upon this world.
And it became the only thing that could move in this world.
For the Old Tree, this was an incredibly brief process. Almost the second the storm formed, all of its perceptions were swept into nothingness. It could no longer feel the existence of the outside world, as if everything in this world were moving away from it.
...
"Where did that tree escape to?"
δ asked from within the shadows.
Because just now, the Devil had engaged in some behavior that it found hard to comprehend.
The Devil did not stop the plants’ escape but instead watched them burrow into the portals that appeared out of nowhere, eventually disappearing without a trace in front of them.
"It went home."
Song Lan stepped out of the apartment where "Dominate" was situated. The streets outside were still deserted; the people had not yet recovered from the extraordinary temporal anomaly and the attack of the plants, but he had finished his work. The issues concerning the city’s reconstruction and power transition were no longer his concern.
"You just let it go back like that?"
δ followed him out.
Full of doubts, it felt that the Devil had done something under its very nose.
Letting the opponent leave a mess and then escape in front of it was not the Devil’s style.
"Mhm."
Song Lan nodded, "I brought it some local specialties."
"Local specialties... Do you mean that the tree, like ’Dominate,’ went to a better place?"
"No."
"Huh?"
"The place it’s going is not like ’Dominate’s; that’s hardly a good place."
He responded to δ’s question with a practical and honest attitude.
Song Lan had always treated people with sincerity.
δ wanted to continue questioning, but the words got stuck in its throat.
Unlike the Devil, who seemed to have done nothing, it had left behind a part of its body when the Old Tree escaped.
And now, within its sight, the broken plants rapidly deteriorated into dust, dissipating into the air as if they had never existed.
