No matter whether it was Sector Seventeen, the United Government, or the large corporations, they all faced an exceedingly long day.

It wasn’t yet dawn when Lu Xiang rushed to the scene of the accident, where Captain Doug had already led the special ops team to complete the site investigation.

The members of the ops team were all on high alert.

"The convoy of Cloud Biological Pharmaceutical was attacked. Although no casualties were found at the scene, but..."

Doug hesitated to continue, because for a moment he didn’t know how to categorize the "guards." If they were considered victims, this would become the biggest case in Sector Seventeen in recent months.

The carcasses of the "guards" were strewn about the street, some appearing to have been flung out, others looked like they had been crushed by massive force, and some bodies had been corroded with densely packed holes.

What frightened Captain Doug even more was the identity of these people.

Publicly looting the retreat of Cloud Biological Pharmaceutical, could it be an intention to start a war with the company?

But one trouble followed another. Just now, they received a report from the secretary of Gray Farmar, "The CEO of Cloud Biological Pharmaceutical, Grey, has gone missing. His office looks as though it has suffered severe corrosion. These are the photos taken at the scene by team three."

Doug showed the photos to Lu Xiang.

Years of criminal investigation experience told him that there must be some connection between these two cases, and he immediately suggested that the cases be combined.

He knew that if the news got out, it would quickly become a huge case that would shock the entire United Government.

Doug was under immense pressure, as to this day he couldn’t figure out who had attacked the company’s convoy. The huge mysterious footprints on the ground, a sudden acid rain, and an unknown force that eradicated the company’s biological weapons in an extremely short time, as well as Grey’s peculiar office... Everything they had investigated so far could immediately spark discussions online and made the whole case bizarre and terrifying.

It was quite obvious that Director Lu had also realized the severity of the case.

Her complexion was extremely grim – in Doug’s memory, the director rarely showed too much personal emotion at the crime scene.

What puzzled him, however, was that Lu Xiang’s gaze was mainly focused on the extensively damaged ground and the buildings affected by the aftershock of the explosion.

About ten seconds later, Lu Xiang finally took a deep breath, the sight before her making her steps feel unsteady as she instinctively covered her forehead with her left hand to ease the intense dizziness.

Now, the municipal administration had to start repairing the roads and surrounding buildings, which looked to be a major project of more than a month.

She couldn’t understand why Song Lan and the others made such a mess while dealing with a few "guards," as if they were going to war.

Everything at the scene deeply hurt her eyes, making her want to tie up the culprits and whip their butts fiercely with a whip!

The ever-diligent Captain Doug obviously didn’t understand the gravity of Lu Xiang’s demeanor; he continued to discuss the case, "We’ve investigated that last night, these ’guards’ broke into Miss Fengling’s apartment and forcibly took her away in a car. The apartment door was violently removed, which looks more like abduction."

The first possibility he thought of was that Fengling had a fallout with the company halfway through and single-handedly took down all the escorting "guards," and, still furious, went to the home of Gray Farmar, killed him, and disposed of the body.

This fit the logic of criminal investigation, and since Fengling’s body wasn’t found at the scene, she had mysteriously disappeared.

"Follow this lead in the investigation."

Lu Xiang issued the order, "Immediately lock down the airport and train stations."

However, she knew they would definitely not find Fengling there, because she had already reached the junkyard, attending the welcome Ceremony prepared for her by all the employees of Void Paradise.

The secret about her and "Guardian Spirit" had been leaked, and the pharmaceutical company would surely try to continue the recovery process. If Fengling refused, they might very well retaliate against her family. Once she disappeared into the Void, the company would be helpless.

They might still cut off financial aid to Fengling’s family, but they wouldn’t go as far as to take extra vengeance. After all, the person was lost during transport, and it was Cloud Biological Pharmaceutical that was actually in the wrong.

However, on the other side, Miss Fengling’s welcome party was not as smooth as Lu Xiang had imagined.

Heavy Cannon clicked his tongue in amazement. This was the first time he had encountered a friendly high-level rescuer. Fengling poked half her head out from the quilt. She was beginning to understand how her younger sister must have felt when she was bedridden all those years ago.

She had several nightmares last night.

But to further understand the relationship between Spiritual Energy and the physical body, she would need other experimental samples.

However, the harmonious atmosphere did not last long; a man with an ashen face and unsteady steps barged into the common room.

"It’s all your fault!"

The man ranted and raved, "Especially you, Xinyue!"

This most terrifying bird of the Void, upon being called out by the man, guiltily turned its face away, pretending not to have heard anything.

"37.29 million watts! That’s the money for road repairs and building renovations!"

Song Lan slammed his hand onto the table, "I’ve just been reprimanded by the leadership!"

Where were they supposed to come up with so much money? Were they going to kill "the mouse" to fix the roads?

That was not an option, "the mouse" was everyone’s good buddy, and Song Lan felt that "the mouse"’s bounty still had room to grow, they could fatten it up even more.

As an envoy of the Void, he responded to the call of the version update, and with the progression of the Legacy of the Void, he estimated "the mouse"’s bounty could double once or twice more.

It was just like real estate speculation; "the mouse" was clearly an excellent financial product.
