Chapter 1169: Chapter 976: Change Job to Succubus

After an all-night investigation, Angle and Benjamin finally made some progress.

Witnesses claimed that on the morning of the day in question, the deceased had visited the prosthetic hospital, just before his meeting with the suspected killer, where something bizarre occurred.

More than one doctor and patient reported that they experienced a brief lapse in consciousness at the same time, and after this lapse, they were surprised to find several unexpected visitors on their floor, including one who appeared to be a war machine from a sci-fi movie, leaving a deep impression on them.

The security of the residential area confirmed that among the three people the deceased brought back, there was one who strongly resembled a Terminator robot.

There is still no news regarding the three individuals, but based on clues provided by the hospital staff, two important pieces of information were uncovered—three other unexpected guests followed a person from the Psychic Research Institute downstairs.

"Psychic Research Institute, what are they doing here?"

With this question in mind, Angle connected to the internal network of the investigation bureau, where a friend helped him understand the reasons.

Since the attacks by Psychics had become frequent, the Psychic Research Institute had been dedicated to treating this rare disease, establishing strategic partnerships with multiple hospitals to uniformly accept patients with mild symptoms who could still maintain their sanity, sending them to more specialized institutions for treatment.

Just as the anomaly occurred, Jiu’s research team had just completed the handover with the hospital, and this batch of patients seemed to have a special identity, even the director of the research institute was present.

"Interesting, a rescue team among Psychics."

Knowing some inside information, Benjamin quickly understood the reason and finally realized why his partner had died at his own home.

This was the retaliation from the Psychics.

So far, their actions had not yet spread, but as of now, with their efforts, they had already dealt with dozens of Psychics across the United Government.

Nipping the threat in the bud before these individuals turned dangerous was the solution Benjamin was seeking.

But then again.

This was a world of kill or be killed.

Since they could take action against Psychics, the organizations established by the latter would also notice their existence, the only thing that caught them off guard was the quickness of the Psychics’ intelligence gathering, they arrived at their doorstep even before they made the relevant preparations.

Benjamin said, "The other group’s target is the Psychics taken by the research institute, we should start taking action."

"Hold on."

Angle stopped him.

Apart from the movements of the research institute, his friend from the bureau had also provided some other information, concerning a person named Benjamin Abell.

Before coming to The First Region, Benjamin had been active "outside", and after the war, he became the second-in-command in a local Warlord Group for some reason, involved in dozens of cases, with indications that he had been manipulating gang activities in over five border cities "outside".

Just a few days ago, his people had committed dozens of homicides in these cities.

The only common thread among the victims was that they were Psychics registered with the Rescuer department, ranging from one to three stars, their deaths meticulously orchestrated through traps targeting their abilities, essentially guaranteeing instant death with no chance for reaction.

This meant that he was now facing a "foreign" terrorist who had planned dozens of homicides.

What Benjamin had just described as collaboration was very likely some sort of terrorist activity.

Angle reached for his weapon at his waist and pressed, "The Keeper, is this your so-called collaborative project?"

His friend from the bureau told him that in recent cases, the killer would leave a mark near the scene of the death to represent their identity, and the intelligence they investigated all pointed to a group self-styled as The Keeper.

Investigating bombings was Angle’s current job, but that did not mean he would cross lines to collaborate with a terrorist who had been engaged in terrorist activities in recent years.

During their conversation, there was a loud noise from the hotel entrance, and the armored floating car skimmed the early morning sky.

Benjamin’s gaze through the lobby glass saw the riot squad blocking the street, with vehicles designated to command the operation bearing the emblem of the Unusual Cases Investigation Bureau.

"This is why I hate working with the cops."

Benjamin sighed deeply, "Especially the ones obsessed with principles."

Clearly, the sudden appearance of the riot squad and the Unusual Cases Investigation Bureau was not for raiding a hotel to combat special services, while Angle was contacting the bureau, he simultaneously reported his findings.

But he did not intend to hide his own identity from the start.

Benjamin Abell is his real name, he believed that the United Government must have records of his past activities "outside" in his personal dossier, and they could label him as a terrorist at any time if they wished.

"But you are mistaken, I am not your real enemy."

"You can save your speech for the court, when the trial begins, you will have plenty of time to speak."

Angle drew his gun and pointed it at Benjamin’s chest.
