Chapter 1103: Chapter 947: News from an Old Friend_2
"Justice" was arrested and brought to justice, which is probably one of the few pieces of good news they’ve heard in the past year.
"Can we trust the source of the news?"
Song Lan found it somewhat unbelievable.
"Of course," Lu Xiang said. "Peddling fake intelligence on such matters would cost you your head."
"He’s gone so low in just a few days? Who arrested him?"
"Benjamin Abell."
Song Lan thought it over but couldn’t match this name with anyone he knew. "So you’re saying he was defeated by a nobody?"
"Not exactly a nobody; he’s the founder of The Keeper, a person whose age is unknown."
After the incident in The First Region, The Keeper left the territory of the United Government through Region Seventeen. They came and went in a hurry, causing no commotion in the border towns, thus there was no opportunity for confrontation.
However, Lu Xiang had not expected that this ancient organization would catch such a "big fish" after vanishing for so long.
"I know of them."
Song Lan remembered the organization because of Lu Xiang, who previously mentioned that "How to Kill a Spiritual Power" was a theoretical work proposed by The Keeper. Although their individual combat capabilities were not particularly strong, they tailored different strategies for different abilities. Like leeches, they would swarm around their prey until the moment it fell.
But now, looking back, this relationship seems somewhat delicate.
Comrade Lu Xiang, as a former high-ranking member of the Psychic camp, was well-versed in the literary works proposed by the Psychic hunters.
"Their way of fighting is different from yours. Or rather, your method of dealing with problems is quite odd, and you’ve even negatively influenced the ethos of the Six Stars rescuers."
With that said, Lu Xiang couldn’t help but give sharp criticism to Song Lan.
In the past, one of the reasons for the Six Stars rescuers’ invincibility was their unstoppable intelligence warfare. Often before the Six Stars were deployed, various departments would investigate the target thoroughly and then send the most suited candidates based on the characteristics of the individual and power involved.
Thus, when the Six Stars rescuers were dispatched, they often faced battles that were almost crushingly one-sided.
Their outstanding abilities, complemented by the element of surprise, allowed them to dispose of their opponents without breaking a sweat, leaving an impression of invincibility.
However, Song Lan’s head-on approach set the wrong example for the rescuers.
Especially the direct confrontation in terms of Psychic Strength between Oasis and "Corruption" was out of sync with modern warfare.
Those Six Stars rescuers who had contact with Song Lan inevitably picked up bad habits, overlooking the importance of intelligence warfare.
"Emperor," Rose, Yaku, and the Six Stars substitute Fengling all became "honorable duelists."
"In this regard, The Keeper are a group of conservatives."
For a moment, Song Lan had no answer.
But he believed there must be some misunderstanding; he was never really an "honorable duelist," he simply skipped steps in some less important battles.
The actual process of dismantling should involve careful observation, meticulous analysis, and after assessing the situation, the final answer would be delivered—a ’Invincible Universe’ heart-piercing hand strike in a split second.
So the problems with "Emperor" and the others are more self-inflicted.
Underachievers should not always copy the answers of top students, as they might be caught out by the teacher—this is common knowledge to middle schoolers.
As they were talking, a movement was heard in the quiet hallway outside the door.
The footsteps, drawing closer from afar, were undeniably heavy, sounding like some mechanized creature stepping on the floor. When the footsteps reached the door, the office floor already started to tremble slightly.
"Thump, thump, thump—"
Even though the machine creature on the other side of the door seemed cautious, the door of Lu Xiang’s office still emitted a warping noise.
"Come in."
Lu Xiang pressed a button on the computer desk, and what appeared outside the door was a gigantic spider-shaped combat machine called a "War Chariot" by military technology personnel.
These kinds of war machines, a common sight in The First Region, have been widely upgraded in the patrols after the unrest had ended. Each patrol team is now equipped with advanced prosthetics and military technology-produced war machines.
"Mr. Benjamin Abell?"
Lu Xiang glanced at the file on her computer; it was a typical case where the real thing didn’t match the photo. The file in the Counter-Intelligence Department depicted Benjamin who, although had undergone comprehensive cybernetic enhancements, at least maintained a human form. He had once been associated with military technology and participated in the "Outer Wars" with the company’s frontline combat troops.
Some analysts believe that it was the experience in the "Outer Wars" that led him down the path of a Psychic hunter, as they had encountered many strange Psychics on the battlefield.
"I’ve heard of you, Minister Lu."
The war machine emitted a choppy synthetic mechanical voice, "For safety reasons, I cannot show my face until we have established a mutual intent to cooperate. I hope you understand."
Lu Xiang remained noncommittal.
This was the most common hacking method, adopted during conversations where it was inconvenient for both parties to meet face to face.
