Chapter 229: Chapter 229: Waving the Tiger’s Skin as a Flag?_1
Song Ting smiled and nodded, "Now that you mention it, it is indeed like that."
She then remembered the only Sun Zhiqing in the village, who was one of the culprits that Little Nuan’s premonition said would harm the Song family.
But she didn’t know what to say.
After all, nothing had happened yet.
She told Chu Zizhou, "Please relay a message to Sun Zhiqing for me, tell him I wish him a smooth examination and success on the golden list!"
Chu Zizhou: ...
Felt a little sour in his heart.
He couldn’t help but surreptitiously observe Song Ting’s expression, wondering if she had feelings for Sun Zhiqing?
But that question was not appropriate to ask.
Chu Zizhou smiled, "Hmm, I’ll pass on the message." Then he casually continued as if making small talk, "Speaking of Sun Zhiqing, I remember he received a letter from home the day before yesterday. His sister-in-law introduced a girl to him who attends Ming City University, saying that if Sun Zhiqing can get into Ming City University, she will... date him."
He intended to say "start a relationship," but facing the girl he fancied, he couldn’t bring himself to express it that way no matter what.
Chu Zizhou recalled the past and found it all incredible.
Song Ting seemed a little shy; after all, she understood what he meant. However, her eyes twinkled with a gossipy curiosity, "So, does this mean Sun Zhiqing is even more motivated now?"
Chu Zizhou breathed a sigh of relief; she probably had no feelings for him, or else she wouldn’t be able to laugh.
He shook his head with a smile, "Sun Zhiqing wants to attend a university in the provincial city. He said that if he doesn’t get in, it would be an injustice to the more than a hundred sets of test papers and materials Little Nuan gave him."
Song Ting’s eyes widened in shock, "Over a hundred test papers, he completed them all?"
Chu Zizhou: "Would he dare not to? Little Nuan would go check on him often."
Song Ting immediately smiled with her eyes curving beautifully.
And she didn’t even realize she had chatted with Chu Zizhou for so long.
Song Ting said, "Wait for me a moment, I’m going to get some canned food, and it would trouble you to help me take it back."
So, Chu Zizhou, whistling, drove the jeep back to Erdao River Village.
Only after getting his exuberant emotions under control did he go to Old Mrs. Song’s place and gave her two cans, considering Old Mr. Ji’s feelings. He vaguely mentioned that it was Song Ting who had asked him to bring them back, and as he was passing by the cultural troupe on his way back, Song Ting mentioned she could get three days off in a week.
What Chu Zizhou hadn’t mentioned was that when he offered to pick her up, Song Ting had not objected, probably because she needed to buy quite a lot of things.
Old Mrs. Song sighed internally; she had met Guo Xia, and Chu Jina had come to her house several times and even bought quite a few clothes when she left.
Because of Little Nuan, they were very cordial, but what did that represent?
Nevertheless, it gave her some insight into the people of the wealthy estates.
They were still very proud at heart.
But they did really like the clothes from her family.
A thought struck her, and Old Mrs. Song suggested, "How about we all have dinner together tonight? Your Uncle Song caught a lot of loaches, they’ve spit out all the mud. We can braise them with tofu later, what do you think?"
Chu Zizhou happily agreed, "That sounds great, I have some canned luncheon meat at home, I’ll bring it to add to the dishes."
Old Mrs. Song glanced at her daughter-in-law, "Should we invite Little Nuan’s grandmother’s family too?"
Xia Guilan said, "Maybe another time, Dongdong definitely won’t be able to come."
"Then we’ll prepare it and send some over to them."
Chu Zizhou: "I’ll go ask if Big Brother Xinshan can make it."
Watching Chu Zizhou’s brisk departure, Old Mrs. Song couldn’t help but smile.
At that moment, Sun Zhiqing gazed at Xia Xindong with full admiration, almost ready to prostrate himself in awe.
The cause was Sun Zhiqing tackling a question on his test paper, but no matter what, he couldn’t solve it. When he reviewed by himself, he usually piled up the hard questions and waited until he went to Nanshan County Town to seek out Song Mingbo at the high school. If Song Mingbo knew the answer, he would tell him, and if not, he would help him find a teacher.
Sun Zhiqing sat in the yard working on the problem, but he just couldn’t figure it out. It was then that Xia Xindong returned home.
After quietly cleaning the mud off his shoes, Xia Xindong nodded at Sun Zhiqing, who was very curious about him and felt that he had a mysterious aura.
In his presence, he was a bit cautious.
Then Xia Xindong passed by him. Originally, he was going to walk past, but then he stopped and looked down at the messy solution steps written on the rough paper.
Xia Xindong frowned slightly, approached, and pointed to the problem, telling Sun Zhiqing that this was not how to solve it, as the first step was already wrong. Then, Xia Xindong started to write out the solution process. When he finished, he asked Sun Zhiqing with surprise, "It’s so simple and clear, how did you manage to fill a whole sheet of paper?"
Sun Zhiqing had not expected his uncle Xia to be so impressive.
He quickly asked about other problems.
At that moment, Chu Zizhou arrived, first cheerfully asking about Xia Xindong’s health, then telling Sun Zhiqing Song Ting’s wishes for him.
Sun Zhiqing nodded excitedly in response.
Chu Zizhou quietly swept a glance, seemingly without any other intentions.
Then he saw the solution steps on the paper.
Chu Zizhou’s eyes widened. He knew this problem, as he hadn’t known how to solve it himself at the time and so went to Gu Huai’an for help. Gu Huai’an started off very patient, but when he realized no amount of guidance was helpful, he grew impatient and simply wrote the steps for Chu to memorize.
The steps on this rough paper differed in two ways, yet the result was exactly the same.
Chu Zizhou felt the pressure was too great.
He glanced once more at the puzzled Sun Zhiqing, then found his balance - geniuses couldn’t be found just anywhere.
So he stated his purpose, and Xia Xindong said in a mild voice, "Let’s wait for Little Nuan to come back for that."
Then, he asked Xia Xinshan, who had just come back from the field, to go have a meal at the Song family’s home.
Once everyone had left, Sun Zhiqing slid down to his knees, looking up with anticipation, "Uncle Xia, can you take me as your student?"
Xia Xindong shook his head, "No, I will not take students."
Sun Zhiqing’s face fell in disappointment.
Xia Xindong thought about it and said, "You can come to me with questions you can’t solve, except for Chinese."
Sun Zhiqing thanked him repeatedly, once again feeling fortunate for his earlier choices.
If he had believed Lin Qing’s words, his fate would have been much worse now.

After Lu Feng returned home, he reflected on whether he really was too gullible, believing whatever Qin Siqi said.
He decided to find Qin Siqi and tell her directly about her mistake.
After work, Father Lu said to Mother Lu - Cai Jie, "I’m going to the Qin family to discuss something with Old Qin."
Cai Jie asked him what the matter was.
Lu Zhenguo frowned worriedly, "I heard from Old Shen that the establishment of Staff and Cadre College in Nanshan County has been approved, and it’s said to be related to Song Yunuan. Do you think she’s playing the big shot under false pretenses?"
Cai Jie immediately became furious, "I’ve said she was no good, a country girl like her wouldn’t just accept her defeat, trying desperately to make a comeback. If she can’t return, she seduces our son. Look at Lu Feng, walking around like he’s lost his soul every day.
Song Yunuan is using our relationship with the Qin family to curry favor with the people in Nanshan County Town to get what she wants. No, Old Lu, we must go see Old Qin immediately; we can’t be used without even knowing."
She used to like Little Nuan, but ever since her son went on a hunger strike for her, she’s been thoroughly annoyed with Song Yunuan.
Lu Zhenguo nodded, "Yes, in case she’s seeking favors under the pretense of the Lu family or the Qin family, if trouble arises later, we’ll all be implicated."
