Edge of the Apocalypse
Chapter 967: Great Emperor

The sound of water rumbled loudly.

A waterfall flowed out from the mountain stream, and the torrent surged downwards, occasionally hitting the protruding rocks on the mountain wall, causing splashes of water to splatter everywhere. From afar, it looked like a giant pillar made of white jade, falling from the sky and falling into a wide lake below, splashing everywhere. Winter goes and spring comes, but the cold in the north is still there. Just like this big lake, the surface of the lake near the falling waterfall was flowing with water, but there was still a thin layer of ice in the distance.

At the Great Lake was a vast forest. It was early spring, and there were only two or three green trees on each tree. At the end of the day, they were green and lush, but people could already feel the vigor and vitality that was about to emerge. The winter snow melted day by day. Soon, the grey and white images in this forest would be replaced by yellow and green colors. Everything was awakening.

Today's weather was clear and there were no clouds in the sky. Daylight poured down, illuminating the lake with all its colors. From afar, the icy surface of the lake looked like a high-grade crystal diamond, refracting a dream-like radiance. Suddenly, the surface of the lake split apart. A series of sharp sounds of ice breaking rang out as someone poked their heads out from the lake. It was a man with black hair and rough and dignified features. His gaze was calm, but he was resolute. One could tell that people like him would not easily shake their hearts.

He threw a fat fish on the ice before climbing on it himself. As the lake splashed, a bronze body was exposed to the sun. He raised his hand and slightly raised his forehead. This movement held onto the lines of his body that were filled with masculinity and beauty of strength. The man in a pair of black soles and trousers exhaled hot air, then picked up the fat lake fish that landed beside him and walked towards the shore.

Clothes, cloaks, and armor were casually thrown on the shore. When the man arrived at the shore, his body started to surge with blurry flames. After he dried up all the water in his body, he put on his personal strength suit. Just as he was about to wear armor, a series of thunderous roars suddenly sounded from the forest in front of the lake. Following that, the trees in the distance began to stagger. Quite a few ancient trees fell to the left and right. Something was flying towards the shore of the lake with overflowing flames.

The man grinned like a boy with a new toy. His eyes were filled with anticipation.

Not long after, a dark green figure suddenly barged into his line of sight. This figure was so huge that the man was instantly pitifully small compared to it. However, the weaker side laughed, "So it's a wild elephant barbarian. I thought it was something fun. Go away. Don't provoke me, little fellow."

The "little fellow" the man spoke of exploded with rage. There were thousands of exotic beasts in this forest, and the majority of them were barbarian elephants. Barbarian elephant was like an elephant and a cow, as big as a small mountain, with a violent temper, and his brute strength was no small matter. However, the Barbarian Elephant's skin was mostly dark brown, as if the skin in front of him was dark green. Two gray ivory tusks were curved like crescent moons, and the guy with a ball of green origin fire on his head was not an ordinary Barbarian Elephant, but an Elephant King.

The King of Barbarian Elephants, also known as the Barbarian Lord The Barbarian Lord had an exceptionally strong concept of territory. Probably, the Great Lake and the nearby mountains were designated Lords for him, so his reaction to this strange man was exceptionally strong. Moreover, there were many lake fish beside this man's feet, and the Elephant King's eyes were red. He let out a roar and charged at the man.

The giant beast moved, causing the earth to shake.

The man shook his head and muttered, "You're asking for trouble." Then, he lowered his center of gravity and stretched out both of his hands, putting on a posture of wrestling with the Barbarian Elephant King!

As Wang Chong approached, the pair of crescent-like ivory fiercely arched towards the man.

The man put his hands on the elephant's head.

One man and one elephant crashed into each other like this.

The great lake, the mountain forest, and even this land suddenly jumped, startling a large number of forest birds. An even more ripple of atmosphere swam out from the shore behind the man and swept across the entire lake in a flash. Following that, the floating ice on the water surface cracked apart. As the ice shattered, countless lake fish jumped out of the water, bringing with them countless droplets of water. The man and elephant's feet were filled with noise. The Elephant King's head was brightly lit, but he was unable to take another step forward.

The man chuckled and suddenly a hammer hit the Elephant King's head. The Elephant King's entire body trembled violently. His enormous body actually took a few steps back, and then he fell to the ground with a groan. The man touched his forehead and smiled, "You're a tough guy."

Erin continuously rubbed his hands, causing the silver and iron gloves on his hands to spark. He walked back and forth, his slightly bulky silver armor making him a little heavier than usual, so he stepped on the soft mud of the forest and left a deep footprint, the brown mud stained with the edges of his silver boots. Normally, Erin would take off his new armor and wipe it clean with heartache. After all, this new armor had only been in his hands for less than a month.

A bright red cloak hung down from his shoulders. The cloak had the design of a lion and a long sword on it.

In the empire, only the Great Emperor's personal guard, the King's Sword, had the privilege of wearing such a cloak. Erin was less than thirty years old, so he became the captain of the Personal Guards, which made his old comrades quite jealous. But now, Erin didn't feel the same elated mood as when he first became the captain. At this moment, his heart was burning with anxiety.

It was all because of the man who had just arrived in the tent not long ago.

It was not an ordinary person, but the Prime Minister, Nabott. The Prime Minister's stage is in the capital, in the Imperial Court. To the north of the imperial capital, the royal hunting grounds were naturally not for sightseeing, but to see Tangerio Great Emperor.

The Great Emperor had already stayed in the hunting grounds for three days.

Since the Prime Minister had come to see him, he naturally had something important to attend to. Although the man did not show any impatience, the pressure in Erin's heart gradually increased with the passage of time. What made him helpless was that when the Great Emperor went to Nalan Cuihu in the morning, there was an order not to be disturbed. This made Erin not dare to let anyone inform the Great Emperor, so he could only be anxious beside the king's tent.

Seeing that the Prime Minister had already changed the fourth glass of water in his hand, the ground shook gently. Nothing was more obvious than the cup in Nabott's hand, which was rippling with water. So he put down the cup and walked out of the tent with his hands behind his back. Erin had to be careful to stay by his side. The ground trembled from the direction of Nalan Cuihu. Erin frowned and whispered, "Lord Nabott, should we send someone to check?"

"It shouldn't matter. This kind of vibration was probably caused by our Emperor."

Erin recalled the Prime Minister's words "tossing and turning" and felt that it meant something far-reaching. Not long after, the earth trembled again, and the frequency became higher and higher. It was as if something terrifying was coming towards the camp. Erin could already feel the invisible pressure. The captain raised his hand and gestured. The twelve King's Sword guards immediately lined up in front of the camp. Erin walked over to Nabott himself. Although this Prime Minister was an extremely human minister, he was still an ordinary person. Erin naturally had to protect him.

Erin narrowed his eyes as he guessed what was coming. Suddenly, a jade light lit up in the woodland opposite the camp. Then, a giant beast came out of the forest. '"It's the Barbarian Elephant King! Be on guard! Be on guard!" Erin looked at the crescent-sized ivory and the jade-colored Origin Fire that was constantly emitting from the giant beast's head. "It's the Barbarian Elephant King! Be on guard! Be on guard!"

Just as he finished shouting, someone patted him on the back. Erin turned to look at the Prime Minister in confusion. The latter pointed at the Barbarian Elephant King and said, "Look who's up there."

Erin looked up and saw a man sitting on the Barbarian Elephant King, who was also waving towards the camp. Erin revealed a strange expression, "Why His Majesty …"

Tangelio jumped down from the elephant king's head and patted the elephant leg of the big fellow, "Go ahead. You have to keep your eyes open when you fight in the future." The Great Emperor laughed dryly. The Elephant King twisted his body and circled around. He snapped his nose. His thick hind legs deliberately pulled up a patch of mud and poured it all over Tanglio's body. The Great Emperor shook his head and laughed. He didn't care and casually patted his way to the camp.

Erin hurriedly sent someone to get clean clothes. Tangelio shook his head and said, "There's no need. In the past, when we fought against outsiders, it would be dirty if we didn't bathe for half a month." "Of course, if our prime minister dislikes it, I'll go and change into a clean set of clothes immediately," he said, patting Nabott's arm.

Nabott closed his eyes.

Tanglio laughed and walked towards the tent. "Erin, prepare breakfast for me. I had a lot of fat lake fish, but they were all eaten up by that big greedy guy. Oh, Nabott. What are you doing here instead of enjoying yourself in your prime minister's mansion? You want to learn how to hunt, too? I can teach you."

"Forget it, Your Majesty, I can't learn your ability to suppress the Barbarian Elephant King. Besides, if I have this ability, would it be the old fellow Roderick's turn to occupy the position of Marshal of the Empire for years?"

In the king's tent, there was a King's Hand guard moving out of the bench. Tangerio and Nabott each took a seat. Not long after, plates of medium-cooked fried steak were delivered to Great Emperor. The plate was sliced with lemon, but it could not cover the fishy smell coming from the half-cooked steak. Tangelio didn't care. He directly used a knife to cut a piece and chewed it until blood spilled out of his mouth.

Nabott frowned.

Great Emperor swallowed the beef immediately and waved his hand. "Alright, I know what you're trying to say. I've been used to drinking blood all these years. Everyone below says I'm like a barbarian. That's fine. Isn't barbarian okay?"

"Yes," Nabott said calmly. "There's news coming back from the Wilderness Highlands in the south."

"Oh, did you find anything?" Nabott raised his voice again and the cook who was baking after checking the bill said, "Give us one for the Prime Minister. Remember to cook it well. We, Lord Nabott, can't see the blood."

"Thank you, Your Majesty, for your shirt," Nabott said with a smile.

"Not only did we find out, it's also quite big" The Prime Minister raised his hand and gestured.

'"Oh, ruins?" Tangelio's eyes turned cold.

"It's a ruin! The Blood King's Cemetery!"
