Edge of the Apocalypse -
Chapter 731: Take A Risk
The atmosphere in the command hall froze.
Tu Lei's aura surged and his anger boiled. There was a slight tremor in the clenched fist, and the surrounding equipment trembled slightly, as if it could jump up at any moment. Wallace unconsciously took a few steps back, and his eyes rolled around. Obviously, he had no idea. Adele, on the other hand, stood motionless, her eyes shining with a sharp light as she looked at Toure. Zeke stood beside her, resisting with her the invisible pressure released by Toure.
After a moment of confrontation, Toure snorted and turned around, "Since your Morsen Clan didn't appreciate it just now, then of course we have no obligation to help you defend. We will head to the stronghold later. Good luck to everyone from the Morsen Clan."
Just like that, the Goliath Clan members left the hall in a flurry of excitement.
Only after Toure left did Adele realize that her pink back was already tightly attached to her tactical uniform. No matter how despicable Toure was, he was still a Roddy-level powerhouse with the strength of a Major General. It was rare for Adele not to retreat under his oppressive might, and if she did, only Zeke would be able to escape from the hall.
Of course, even if he gave Toure a hundred guts, he wouldn't dare to make a move here. Not to mention elder Kate's revenge, the Federal Military Department alone would not let him go. Although Toure was not bad, there were plenty of experts in the military who could eat him steadily. Adele was sure that Toure would retreat, but the process was not as easy as she had imagined.
"Miss, are you alright?" Zeke asked. He was completely impressed by this young lady who dared to defy Toure.
Adele shook her head and turned to Wallace. "Brother, I need your authorization to let Mr. Zeke direct this battle."
Wallace looked at Adele and smiled, "I haven't heard you call me that in a long time. Well, I don't know anything about war anyway. Mr. Zeke, do whatever you want."
Zeke exhaled and nodded, "Young Master and Miss, please rest assured, I will do my best."
"Then you guys should be busy."
"Where are you going?"
"Of course, we should find a comfortable room in the camp and find a few chicks to spend time with." Wallace blinked.
Adele frowned. "You'd better go back to the stronghold. It's safer there."
"I'm useless and I don't know how to fight," Wallace said, shaking his head. "But at least I know I'm a Morsen man. I can die and I can't lose face."
"Don't worry about me. Work hard and do your best."
He still looked like he was playing around.
A smile appeared on Adele's face. She turned around and walked to the tactical platform. "Mr. Zeke, what do you think?"
The two of them stood in front of the platform. The large screen in front of them displayed several areas of the Morsen Family's defensive area. Zeke switched it to an electronic plan. In the map, the defensive area was surrounded by dense dots of light. The numbers labeled by the CPU kept jumping, but no matter how much they jumped, the numbers were always hovering between five digits.
"Obviously, we can't defend the entire defensive area. When I discovered this, I had already contacted the headquarters of the stronghold. As for ourselves, Miss, I have an idea, but it's very risky."
Adele raised her eyebrows and said, "With our strength, it is impossible to fight steadily. You should take risks when you take risks, Mr. Zeke."
"Yes." Zeke nodded and looked at the map. "I want to gather troops from all the barracks on the defensive line and choose one of the enemy's frontlines for an advantage attack," he said. Once it succeeds, there are two scenarios. One is for the enemy to draw troops from other areas of the frontline to block our attack. The other is that they didn't have time to react and were pierced through by us. And in either case it will be in our favour. "
"What's the risk?"
"It's time." "If we can't break through the enemy's frontlines in a short amount of time, or even hold back the troops we've gathered, then the rest of the line won't last long," Zeke said solemnly. "At that time, our main force will be held back. As long as the enemy attacks in full force, our defensive area will be doomed."
Adele thought for a moment and said, "Defending is not a solution. Instead, I prefer to take the initiative. Perhaps there is hope of changing the situation. However, the direction of the assault needs to be considered."
"I've thought about this." Zeke pointed at the map, on the left side of the Morsen Family's defensive area. "If we can break through the enemy's blockade, we can work with Bescot and have hope of counterattacking him," Zeke said, pointing to the left side of the Morsen Family's defensive area.
'"Beth Cod" Adele nodded. That position was right next to Beth Cod's defensive area, and Zeke was right. He nodded his head and said, "Then let's go. I'll be heading over first. Mr. Zeke should contact Beth Cod as soon as possible and ask them to cooperate with our operation."
"Miss, you'd better …"
"No, I have to go." Adele patted her sniper rifle and said, "I am also a member of the Morsen family. I can't back down from saying anything at a time like this."
She said and left the hall.
Arriving at a corner of the camp, there were two tactical flying cars parked there. A dozen soldiers were resting and joking. Seeing Adele hurriedly stand up, Adele knocked on the flying carriage and said, "We have work to do, get in."
The soldiers whistled and quickly flipped into the flying car. Adele sat in the passenger seat of one of the cars, and the soldier in charge asked, "Miss, where are we going?"
"C2 Camp."
"Understood."
The two tactical flying cars took a turn in the camp and drove out of the camp one in front and one behind, heading towards Zeke's intended assault position. In the middle of the Morsen Clan's defensive zone, there were more than a dozen barracks as defensive nodes on this inner circle defense line. The camp was surrounded by fortifications, turrets and war chariots. In terms of conventional combat, their defenses weren't weak at all. It was only because the chaotic races were attacking ferociously that the inner circle defense line appeared to be in danger.
There weren't many experts guarding the Morsen Clan's defensive area, but their ammunition, turrets, war chariots, and the various camps, forts, outposts, and defensive fortifications that they had prepared in advance were the most numerous and perfect amongst all the clans. Indeed, the Morsen Clan did not possess such prestigious experts as the other noble clans, but they were rich, far richer than the average upper-class noble clan, almost comparable to a wealthy clan.
Therefore, the defensive forces were much more luxurious than the other clans in terms of equipment and facilities, regardless of the experts. Even the defensive nodes of the Federation Army weren't as strong as them.
In the case of the C2 camp, for example, this defensive node was built on a small hill. On the left and right sides of the barracks, there was a high wall extending along the slope, and above it were a number of fire points and a number of defensive turrets. There are four war chariots in the camp that can provide the necessary mobility for the defensive operations of the camp if necessary. In front of the barracks was a semi-bunker defensive fortification, which was convenient to prevent the enemy from launching a large-scale attack, and was also beneficial to the warriors on their side to cover their charge.
Such a barracks could accommodate three to five hundred people, and its combat radius covered an area of several kilometers square. Combining the surrounding battle forts and sentry battles, it was a solid partial line of defense. In front of the C2 camp was a valley in the middle of two hills. On the other side of the valley was the edge of the Morsen Family's defensive area, just a few short hills away from the Bescot's defensive area.
When Adele saw the outline of the C2 camp, the continuous gunfire was coming from the hill where the camp was located. From afar, the flames of war were blazing, smoke rising from all directions, and there was a scene of intense battle. Adele's heart tightened, and she accelerated the flying car. Ten minutes later, the flying car stopped in the square of the camp. The people in the plaza came and went, and the wounded soldiers were constantly carried into the temporary medical station. Every canopy in the station was packed with the wounded, and Adele was in a grave mood.
Upon learning of her arrival, the camp supervisor, who had already been notified in advance, hurriedly arrived. This was a middle-aged man in his forties with stains on his hands, and there was even a scratch on his forehead. He did not even bandage it, allowing blood to ooze from there.
"How is the situation?" Asked Adele.
"Not good." The supervisor smiled bitterly. "We can't hold on anymore, miss. Those bastards are attacking like crazy. Although I've shrunk the forces at the nearby forts and sentry posts, there are too many enemy soldiers. Not only are our soldiers limited, we're running out of ammunition and medicine."
'I know,' said Adele, nodding. 'Give Mr. Zeke some time. The main force will be coming soon, and let us guard this place first. Come, show me.'
"This is very dangerous." The supervisor said worriedly.
"Where else is safe now?" Adele was already walking forward with her sniper rifle on her back.
The supervisor could only follow.
They went up to the top floor of a turret from which they could see the whole barracks. At the side, an intelligent heavy artillery turret was being controlled by Zhi Nao in the firing direction, firing a physical artillery shell at a constant frequency. Combined with the other heavy artillery, they formed a net of fire that covered the front of the camp. As the barrage of artillery bombardments continued, fireballs continuously rose up, devouring the enemy soldiers who were willing to give up their lives and forgot to die, desperately rushing towards the camp.
But there were too many enemy soldiers under the hill, and Adele looked down from the turret, and it was pitch-black at the foot of the hill. There were at least two to three thousand enemies surrounding this defensive node. It could be imagined that the other camps within the inner circle would also be taken care of by the same specifications. The dense wave of soldiers below the mountain was splitting into several fronts and attacking along the slope. The defensive fortifications before the battalion stacked had already been broken by nearly half of the enemy. The remaining half seemed to have been bombarded by a barracks turret, and it was likely that they had already been shot down.
However, Adele knew very well that there were very few remaining physical artillery shells in the camp. Based on the frequency of the attacks, it would not be long before they were all gone. Without the support of the artillery fire, how long could the defensive line of this camp last?
