Edge of the Apocalypse -
Chapter 672: Counterattack Day (1)
"Stay there, Ellen!"
"It can't be?"
A saber light flashed through the battle arena of Kai Yan Base. Fireflies flickered like a dazzling river of stars. Every time he attacked, there was a river of stars in the arena. The saber light rose and fell one after another, and the Origin Energy surged endlessly, causing the onlookers to exclaim in delight. However, even though Regis's attack was fierce, no matter how fierce his attack was, he still had to hit it. As his opponent, Allen took small steps, always missing Regis' saber momentum by a millisecond.
He held Blood Hidden in his hand and occasionally counterattacked. A seemingly ordinary attack would often force Regis into a state of chaos. The Federation soldiers who watched the battle had poor eyesight. They only felt that if they were to end up, they could easily block Alan's attack. They didn't know what was going on with Regis and were in a sorry state because of Alan's basic saber techniques. Regis knew that Allen's seemingly ordinary attacks would always follow his own flaws. Whether it was the timing or the angle, it was only then that he was forced to retreat.
The two of them exchanged blows, and the figures of both sides constantly twisted and changed on the spot. When they were in a hurry, only afterimages could be seen on the field. Some of the soldiers who were too weak were already dizzy. Those who knew better had already turned their faces away and did not dare to capture the trajectory of the two of them. There was a sudden sound as the origin energy collided to form a blazing light, causing the light in the field to dim.
When the light in everyone's eyes returned to normal, the two of them had already separated. Alan looked at Regis with a faint smile. The latter sat down on the ground and threw him to the ground, "No, you're like a monkey. Fighting with you isn't fun at all."
'So that's your problem, Regis. Your attacks are too straightforward, making it easy for your opponent to dodge. So far, you haven't met a real expert. If you run into Catherine, you'll probably miss your first move, and the scorpion rifle will be stabbed in your chest.' Ellen leaned on his saber and said.
'"I have reservations about what you said," said Raynor, who was watching from the sidelines.
"Directness is not necessarily bad. If you use your strengths to the limit, then pure strength or speed is enough to crush any skill."
Alan nodded. "I agree with you, but where does it come from? My understanding is that it also comes from skill, so-called simplification by complexity. When the skill you grasp is constantly simplified and combined with your own experience, you will be able to achieve the pure skill you are pursuing."
This time, Raynor did not refute. Instead, he revealed a thoughtful expression. Most of the soldiers beside him were confused, but one or two of them got nothing. Unexpectedly, this conversation between Alan and Reina was a deep understanding of high-level combat skills. Even though it was just a few simple conversations, it contained the experience the two of them had gained through hundreds of battles. The soldiers who had gained something after hearing this did not know how much their words today would affect their future.
Allen looked at Regis, who was holding his hands and thinking hard, and smiled, "You might as well fight me a few more times. You'll probably understand."
Xue Hidden flicked his blade and the Star Saber immediately bounced back into Regis's hand. The two of them separated. Seeing the battle clouds rise again, the latest announcement came from the broadcast system of the arena. "This is Lieutenant Colonel Ned's office. Please report to the combat room within ten minutes of hearing the announcement."
The broadcast was repeated three times.
Alan tossed Xue Yin to Regis and said, "Looks like we're going to attack. This should be a pre-war meeting. Everyone, wait for my news."
"Let's go together?"
Reina nodded. Although he was not the Guild Leader, he was definitely qualified to attend such a meeting. Based on his performance in the defensive battles against the base, Ned probably wouldn't dare to refuse. The combat room was located on the first floor of the command building. When Alan and Rice arrived together, Reese had already found a seat to sit down. Seeing the two of them, he smiled kindly and motioned for Ke Ke to sit beside him.
Allen was obedient, and Raynor found a quiet and remote corner to sit in.
"That brother of yours is really awkward." Reese whispered, his two small eyes peeking at Rena, afraid that the big guy would hear him.
"He's always been like this," Allen smiled. "But you'll find that he's not a bad person after you've been in contact with him for a long time. He's just not good at communicating with people."
"You are the most well-informed. Do you know what the purpose of this meeting is?"
Reese smiled and patted Alan on the shoulder, "You're asking the right person, brother." It was only yesterday that I received news that the Federation was preparing to launch a general offensive. It was unknown which lucky fellow had found out that the Yordon Outsiders were in the Chaos Canyon and were still working on some sort of plan. Since they had obtained the exact coordinates, there was no reason for the Federation to sit idly by. This time, apart from gathering a ten thousand strong army, there were also two major generals in charge. As for us, the main battlefield shouldn't have anything to do with us. We should just attack the periphery and reap military merits, right? "
He rubbed his hands and said, "The acquaintance in the army told me that the person who provided the information has a high chance of being rewarded with a second-class military merit. How jealous, don't you think?"
Alan smiled without saying a word. Seeing his strange smile, he remembered that the news seemed to have spread only after Alan returned. '"Don't tell me that lucky guy is you?" Reese opened his mouth wide.
"Does it matter?" Ellen spread out his hands.
Reese hooked his shoulder and said, "If it's true, then you got a ticket to the Central Battlefield. Damn it, you have to take me with you. I heard that teams qualified to go to the Garden of Eden can appoint one or two more Hunters to form an alliance and head to the Central Battlefield together."
This was also normal. In a place of strategic importance like the central battlefield, it was simply not enough for a hunting group to go alone. At least two or three hunting groups would have to work together to reap military merits on a battlefield filled with peak flames.
"We'll talk about this later. They're coming." Alan looked at the door.
The leaders of the other guilds arrived one after another. Among them were Ellen's "old acquaintances", Cage and Laurie. Cage was scared back by Catherine and almost exterminated in the recent war. I've heard that I've recruited a few new members, but my overall combat strength is much weaker than before, so I've restrained myself a lot. Laurie's expression was gloomy, but he looked at Reina more often.
Rena snorted coldly and stabbed Laurie with his throat. Laurie's face immediately turned red and was about to explode when he was pressed down by Guild Leader Vader. Ned walked in and looked at the adjutant. The latter hurriedly closed the door. The lieutenant colonel cleared his throat and said in the first sentence, "Everyone, it's time for us to retaliate."
Reese winked proudly at Alan, indicating that his information was accurate.
