Edge of the Apocalypse -
Chapter 657: Gather The Stars
"This is the Reaper. Request access to the M37-2 dock."
The sunrise cruiser was still bathed in a warm sunshine. Above it, the gigantic fireball spewed flames and light into the vast universe. At the dock of the cruiser, in a dedicated dock passage, the armored gate was retracting from both sides, revealing a slow-descending runway with lights on. The Reaper flew into the passageway, gradually lowering its altitude, and finally docked firmly at Catherine's private dock.
The starship's cabin door opened and a lift deck descended. When the deck reached the ground, Catherine walked out of the hatch. The two strange-colored ponytails that had been tied up again were like two flames, one black and the other gray, flickering and burning in the eyes of the crowd. She was greeted by subordinate officials, including two colonels, six majors and a dozen lieutenants. Seeing these people, Catherine asked in her usual cold voice, "Why are you here?"
The two colonels stepped forward with a black-faced red cloak and put it on Catherine before retreating. There was a pattern of death spreading on the cloak, but there was still a spear and a scythe under the Dark Code, which represented Catherine's identity. Catherine's expression darkened when she saw the cloak. This was a general's cloak. Only a general could wear such a cloak in addition to his general's uniform. Each general's cloak had their own legion emblem and personal indication, but not all of them had to be worn. Generally speaking, only meeting with important people, or attending some important occasions in the name of the Federation, required such formal travel.
"Who's here?" Catherine asked casually.
"Marshal Capulo." Colonel Wulin, who had served under Catherine for more than five years, was well aware of the intentions of his young but powerful superior. He had a standard oriental face with short hair and a shiny black beard. He bent down slightly and said, "Marshal, you don't seem to be in a good mood. General Russen also complained about you leaving the Sunrise without permission."
"Wei Ci?" Katherine smiled. "Wulin, you don't have to hide anything for the general. It's perfectly normal for General Russen to go berserk."
"Yes, so I heard that you came back. General Russen wants you to go to the conference room immediately. The marshal will be there too."
"Alright, let's see what that old lion wants to do." The black cloak was raised, and a scarlet background surged. It was as if a surge of blood energy was following behind Catherine all the way.
All the officials pretended that they didn't hear anything when they heard his boss's rude words.
When the door to the meeting room opened, Catherine saw the cloak of a general in the meeting room like a flag. The style of the cloak was not identical. The black general cloaks belonged to the generals of the Death Spreading Legion. As for those dazzling golden capes, they had the roar of a lion on them. It was obvious that they were the generals of the Golden Lions Legion. Inside, Catherine saw two long silver cloaks with golden roses on them. That was the symbol of the Rose Empress Legion. But in the two cloaks, there was no golden cross representing Melinda herself.
If Catherine was added, there would be thirteen generals in the conference room. Of course, this did not include Russen and Wild Lion Marshal. These two great figures were not present yet. However, the presence of the thirteen generals was enough to cause Yu Lin and the other colonels to feel deep reverence.
"You guys go ahead." Catherine whispered and strode into the meeting room. Her footsteps were like the wind and her aura was like a knife. Her incomparably sharp aura caused the generals to be divided into two sides. When they discovered their unconscious movements, they revealed different expressions of doubt, anger, and deep thought.
Catherine's name of Reaper spread far and wide even in the deathly spread of elites, completely shrouding the radiance of the other generals. She was regarded as the second person below Russen by the outside world. It is rare that she is so young, and for a woman, her accomplishments are enough to make most men feel ashamed of her. In this huge and complex military system of the Federation. Catherine was often placed under Windsor Belo and Melinda, two equally outstanding women. Some even predicted that Catherine's future accomplishments might surpass Melinda's, catching up to Windsor Belo and becoming the second female Marshal of the Federation.
The generals she worked with were naturally familiar with Catherine. They knew how powerful Catherine was, but when they came back, Catherine seemed to be different. Her aura was still very sharp, but it was a bit less green and had a heavier flavor. This was already a bit similar to the aura emitted by a veteran expert like Russen. It was only after being tempered by countless life and death battles that his aura became purer.
That was why they were puzzled as to where Catherine had gone this time.
As for the two generals from the Rose Queen, they were more thoughtful. The Rose Queen's overall military strength could not compare to the spread of death. This was not only reflected in the number of soldiers, their equipment, and their accomplishments. There were also the number and strength of generals. Apart from Melinda, there were only three major generals and one lieutenant general. The spread of death included Catherine, and there were six generals.
In fact, it was generally believed that Melinda was not comparable to a veteran of the Federation like Russen in terms of strength. And now, Catherine's aura was enough to attract their attention. The two major generals exchanged glances. They both knew that once Catherine broke through the bottleneck of Level 30, the Federation would have another name. Coupled with Catherine's background, adding another member to the old party would be extremely disadvantageous to their new party.
In the end, the generals from the Golden Lion intertwined in shock and anger. Surprisingly, the young Catherine was so powerful, and the young general was so angry that he did not put them in his eyes. They were fierce generals under Marshal Capuluo's command. Normally, they were all above the top, so how could they withstand such a rude backward charge from Catherine?
Immediately, a golden cloak fluttered like fire, but a male major general who was less than thirty blocked Catherine's path and his gaze landed on Catherine like a torch. The generals of the death propaganda immediately frowned. They did not usually have much friendship with Catherine. However, since they were working with the same legion, they naturally didn't like what the golden lion did.
"What are you doing?" Catherine raised her little face, raised her eyebrows, and asked coldly.
The golden lion's general said indifferently, "I should be the one asking Major General Catherine, right? Not only are you late, but you're so arrogant. I wonder how General Russen taught you. It's just a mere Level 27 or Level 8 strength. Don't take yourself too seriously."
He smiled arrogantly before turning around and leaving.
'"It's only one or two levels higher than me. Are you mistaken?" Catherine suddenly said. "That's not enough strength to teach me a lesson. If this was a battlefield, I would have stabbed you to death long ago. Of course, I have to admit, your mouth looks more powerful. At least, your kung fu in your mouth is probably better than yours."
The atmosphere froze.
The general suddenly turned around and wisps of Origin Energy flames rose from his body. "In that case, please allow me to ask for your advice here."
'"Even the equipment is so narrow-minded. No wonder people in their late thirties only have this little accomplishment. Don't think that staying under Marshal Capullo's banner is really a lion. You? At most, it's a kitten."
The golden lion's general revealed a furious expression, and the major general who was ridiculed by Catherine was on the verge of going berserk. At this moment, a cold snort sounded in the meeting room. This snort was so cold, as if it came from the depths of hell. Hearing this cold harrumph, the fire energy on the golden lion's body disappeared completely, and the rising Origin Energy was forcefully suppressed by another nameless force.
At this moment, he saw all the generals, including Catherine, who had been spreading the word of death, bow and bow. He clenched his right fist and pressed it against his chest. A colleague pulled him. The major general turned around and saw Russen. He walked out of the room at the other end of the meeting room. Russen wore a full set of pitch-black general clothes and a black cloak that symbolized the spread of death. His entire body emitted an awe-inspiring aura. He was like a black hole, and even the light around him dimmed considerably.
'"Catherine, you are no longer a child. Stop acting so recklessly. The generals in front of you are the golden lions. They are not dogs and cats. Even if you don't work with the Federation, you can't be so rude just for Marshal Capullo's sake!" Russen snorted, "Aren't you going to apologize to that general?"
The two Major Generals of the Rose Empress looked at each other and smiled. On the surface, General Russen was scolding Catherine, but in reality, he implied that the Major General was indeed inferior to Catherine. Otherwise, there would not be any so-called Federation working together, and for the sake of the Marshal. The expressions of the golden lion generals became quite exciting. They weren't idiots, so how could they not hear the meaning of Russen's words? What was hateful was that Russen was not Catherine. Even if he ridiculed her, these generals could only swallow their anger.
A burst of heroic laughter came from behind Russen. Someone said, "Russen, you're still the same. You don't speak mercilessly at all." At least we've known each other for so many years, can't you say something more beautiful? "My subordinates have indeed not fought for too long and cannot compare to you generals who live on the frontlines. However, I am not too happy to say that they are cats and dogs."
In the Federation, the aura on his body quietly disappeared. He snorted and turned around, "Isn't that because you're always hiding in the Garden of Eden? Otherwise, the Starline wouldn't have been led by that little girl Windsor Belo, and your subordinates wouldn't have become dull because of the peaceful days."
A tall figure appeared behind Russen. He was even a head taller than Russen. Standing forward, it was as lofty as a mountain. Just because it didn't intentionally release any aura, the indoor crowd was panting. After all, the person standing there was the oldest soldier in the Federation.
Wild Lion, Capulet!
