Edge of the Apocalypse -
Chapter 551: Dangerous Ally
"What's going on!" Lance screamed and moved back to avoid the two guards who had been blasted into the hall.
His two rows of heavily armored guards immediately stepped forward and fanned Lance behind him. Barre was regretting that he shouldn't have dropped his warhammer, so he had to face them empty-handed. After all, the short silver hair on the man who walked in from outside the hall reminded him of something unpleasant.
"Sir Allen? Why are you here!" Barre cried out, but his words of reproach sounded somewhat lacking in confidence.
It was Alan who walked in from outside the hall. He didn't even have armor on his body, only a long and large saber on his back. The blade was wrapped in cloth, unable to discern its shape. From the gap between the cloth strips, one could see that the blade had a dense red color. It was so red that it looked like it was being fished out from fresh blood. It gave off an ominous feeling.
On the left and right of Allen were Regis, who was carrying Iron Slash and Execution on his back, and William, who had just been beaten away and was now full of anger. Behind them were two people that surprised everyone in the hall. One was the young Ont, while the other was the old butler.
Barre shouted, "Guards, guards! Damn it, where did you all run off to!"
Allen smiled and said, "Captain Barre, there's no need to shout." The soldiers in the castle have already sworn their allegiance to Young Master Ante. What you have done has made their hearts freeze. As the leader of the unicorn, he had colluded with outsiders to seize Sir Daniel's legal property. Have you forgotten that Young Master Unte is the legitimate successor of the Viscount, and not Sir Lance? "
"You're Ellen?" '"I heard you serve the Earl of Oban? Well, I can give you a better one if you join me," Lance said as he pushed aside the guard and walked to Barre's side.
"Oh, what can Lord Lance give me?"
"You can have anything you want." Lance said proudly.
Allen floated to Barre and said, "For example, the life of the Guild Leader."
Barry was shocked and looked at Lance. "Sir, don't listen to this guy's nonsense."
Lance waved his hand and smiled, "Guild Leader Barre is already loyal to me. How can I give him to you? If that's the case, who else will serve me? You'd better switch to something else."
"Alright." Alan nodded and said, "What if I want Sir Lance's life?"
Lance's handsome face stiffened, and he said with a gloomy expression, "Sir Allen, this joke of yours is not funny at all. I don't know how you got here, but I ask you to leave now. Otherwise, I will be a signal of war, and Earl Rackard will show you what fear is!"
"Then let's ask Earl Rackard's army to come." Ellen said with a solemn expression, "What you want to say is exactly what I want to say. Viscount Daniel died in battle. According to the constitution of the empire, his title should be inherited by Young Master Anter. So, Viscount Lance, there seems to be no place for you to speak here."
"What a joke. Viscount Daniel is the vassal of Earl Rackett. Now that the viscount has died in battle and Young Master Unte is still young, Count Rackett naturally has the right to choose a more suitable manager for this territory. I don't think the one who has room to speak here is you, Sir Allen. What right do you have to interfere in this matter?" Lance's voice became sharp.
"Sir Allen has the right, of course, because he is now an ally of mine. I officially declare, in my capacity as Lord, that from this moment onwards I and my territory are officially separated from Earl Rackett's subordinate ranks. All interference by Earl Rackett is unconstitutional!"
Lance widened his eyes, thinking that something was wrong with his ears. After a while, he chuckled, "What the hell is going on? Such an ugly play, it's actually happening so naturally? Hey, hey, Young Master Unte. Do you want me to remind you that your father died at the hands of this fellow beside you?"
"I know," Ante said expressionlessly, "but it was a battlefield. His father had said more than once that if he died on the battlefield, don't think about avenging him, but about how to manage the inheritance he left behind. That would be the greatest reward for him."
"So …" Ante looked at Allen and said, "I chose Sir Allen as my ally."
"Now, do you have anything else to say? If not, please leave, Sir Lance!"
Lance trembled with rage and nodded, "Alright, alright, remember what you said today, Sir Anter. I will also tell Count Rackett everything you said without missing a word. You just wait for the Count's wrath!"
Lance pushed Ellen and Ont away angrily and strode out of the hall. His guards strode after him. Barry looked at Lance and then at Alan. Finally, he followed the guards, but when he passed by Allen, he was stopped by a knife tip tied with a strip of cloth. Lance also noticed Alan's action. He stopped and screamed, "What do you mean?"
"Sir Lance, Guild Leader Barre is still my man. You don't seem to have the right to take him away, do you?" Ante turned around and shouted.
Barry looked at Lance with anticipation. The expression on Lance's face changed several times, and Ante said in a childish voice, "Could it be that Sir Lance wants to interfere in my internal affairs?"
Lance finally snorted and left without looking at Barry. Barre let out an earth-shattering roar, his murderous aura soaring into the sky as he glared angrily at Ont. Upon receiving his murderous intent, Ante's face immediately turned pale and he involuntarily retreated. Alan took a step forward and blocked Barry's line of sight from looking at Ont. The cloth strip on the saber was untied at some unknown time, and Blood Concealment revealed its full appearance. The scarlet blade emitted an astonishing killing intent, suppressing Barre's aura.
Alan said, "Young Master Ante, what do you plan to do with Guild Leader Barre?"
Ante gritted his teeth and said, "Barre betrayed my father, betrayed me, and deserved to be executed!"
Barre's face was ashen as he looked at his empty hands and said in a low voice, "I hope to have a fair duel."
Ellen looked at Barre and shook his head. "Regis, William, protect Young Master Ante. This isn't a battle between knights. It's a trial of traitors, Commander Barre. No, you're no longer the Commander now."
Alan lifted the Blood Hidden Saber, and the blood-colored heavy saber brought with it a heavy amount of saber qi, making it difficult for Barre to even move a finger. Barre had thought of taking Ante hostage in a violent attack. He thought about snatching the window and escaping. Until Ante and the others left the hall, he didn't even move a single bit. The killing intent emitted by the Blood Hidden Heavy Saber made him unable to move. Suddenly, he came to his senses. He was afraid that he would not be able to go anywhere today.
The door of the hall closed. A moment later, a terrifying aura suddenly came from the hall. This aura appeared and disappeared quickly. Soon, Alan pushed the door open and left. When the door of the hall opened, a blazing stream of air gushed out from inside. The heat was so shocking that the people outside almost thought that there was a volcano crater in the hall.
Alan nodded at Wilick, who brought a few guards into the hall. Regis followed him in and saw Barry lying on the ground in the hall with an inconspicuous wound on his chest. The wound was emitting green smoke. Barre's corpse was unnaturally red, and his fatal wound did not seem to be obvious. However, both Regis and Wilick knew that Barre's body was probably charred.
"That bastard seems to have become stronger again!" Regis said hatefully.
It was obvious that Alan had used Inch Fire to kill Barre, but that wasn't a big deal. What made Regis concerned was that there was little damage in the hall, at best, the temperature of the air had increased by a large margin. That meant that Allen's control over Origin Energy had improved by another level, which was why he was able to do this.
Wilick smiled and patted the unwilling Regis, ordering the guards to carry Barre's corpse away. The power struggle in the Unicorn Castle finally came to an end.
Alan met Ont in Daniel's study.
Ante stood in front of the bookshelf and looked at the books on the shelf. He reached out and scratched the covers of some books as if he was remembering his father. Alan coughed dryly and said, "I'm glad you agreed to my suggestion, Young Master Ont. It prevented a worse situation from happening."
"That's right. No matter how bad it is, it can only work with the enemy who killed my father. Isn't that right, Sir Allen?" Ante turned around and said. The moment he turned around, the youth seemed to have grown up a lot.
Alan looked straight into his eyes and said, "Indeed. I don't intend to deny that I killed Daniel, your father."
"Then you should kill me," Ante roared, "because if you give me a chance, I will definitely kill you."
"There are quite a few people who want to kill me, but Young Master Ante, hatred does not bring you any benefits in life. Of course I won't persuade you to give up revenge, but I won't kill you either. After all, I said that if you agree to cooperate with me, then we will be allies. And I won't kill my allies unless you do something bad for me. At that time, I will kill you without hesitation. "
"Then so am I." Ante said loudly, "I will endure and look for opportunities. You'd better not let me get the chance."
"Sure, but before that, I hope you can fulfill the responsibilities of a lord."
Ante seemed to vent his anger, but at this moment, he became quiet. He just nodded and said, "Of course, I don't want my father's inheritance to be buried just like that."
"Then I'm relieved."
Ellen left the study and met Wilick. "Let's go. We're done here for the time being. We'll go back to Ark Harbor, and then it's time to go back to Storm City. I have a lot of things to attend to."
'"Young Master, can you just let that little fellow stay by his side? Although I don't think I can do anything to you even if I give him another ten years." Welik looked at the inner castle and said, "Young Master, you just let that little fellow stay by your side."
"Of course not, Wilick. However, it was better to leave this place to Ante now. At the very least, it would not arouse the hostility of the Unicorn Legion. And when they accept that I'm an ally, there will be some change in principle and mood. At that time, we would be able to take over all of this through internal division, power, and the cultivation of a puppet. Allen said self-deprecatingly, "I've never heard of such a thing from the teachers of Dawn Academy."
