Edge of the Apocalypse
Chapter 1279: An Inexplicable Attack

Lawsen calmly walked into the tunnel at the same speed as if he hadn't found a stalker. After his figure disappeared into the shadows of the tunnel, someone walked out from the corner of the street a hundred meters behind him. The man wrapped himself in a dark cloak, and even his head was hidden deep in his hat, unable to see his appearance clearly. He also walked towards the tunnel, but his movements were indescribably stiff and unnatural. The strangest thing was that his legs were moving, but his shoulders were motionless, as if there was no connection between his body.

The eccentric walked into the tunnel after a while.

There were natural luminous ores on both sides of the tunnel as illumination. The natural light emitted by these ores was gentle and bright. The eccentric walked forward step by step and suddenly stopped when he passed a curve. Because Lawsen was standing ten meters in front of him. This distance was not safe at all. For an expert like Lawsen, it was probably just a step forward.

Lawsen looked at the eccentric in front of him. He could only feel a depressed and stiff aura from him. He asked in a low voice, "Who are you? Why are you following me?"

The other party did not answer, only a hoarse and unpleasant laugh came from the shadow of his hat. Suddenly, the cloak was lifted and it flew into the air. When Lawsen's gaze was attracted by the raised cloak, the eccentric pounced on him. This was a humanoid alien. His entire body was covered in dense strips of cloth. There were some unknown symbols written on it. Black chains were wrapped around his chest and arms. The ends of the chains were connected to a long saber and a sickle blade.

The man was still halfway there, but he threw out the sickle blade.

Lawsen snorted as a jade-green seed appeared in his palm. The Origin Energy in his body poured into the seed, and the seed immediately swelled, germinated, and branched. It was supposed to be a slow growth process, but in the blink of an eye, it was completed at a high speed. A cluster of dark green vines emerged from the seeds. They quickly wrapped around Lawsen's palms and twisted together to form spiral vine swords.

Lawsen's rattan sword swept across the area and opened the sickle blade. At this moment, the eccentric pounced over. The long saber in his other hand turned into a ripple of light, and he actually used a set of delicate and long saber techniques to cover Lawsen. Lawsen wasn't a vegetarian either. The rattan sword opened and closed, but he was using force to break through the technique.

His rattan sword was astonishingly hard. It was clearly a plant, but it didn't lack a blade. It even splashed sparks when it was rubbing against the other party's saber. Lawsen used his rattan sword to slash out a jade-colored sword light, breaking through the opponent's saber curtain and kicking him away. The eccentric suddenly pulled the sickle-blade chain, and the sickle-blade illuminated the tunnel lights and silently slashed towards Lawsen's head from behind.

Lawsen's eyes seemed to grow behind his head. He leaned back and the sickle blade flew over his head. He twisted his waist and spun sideways. At the same time, he stretched out his left arm and sent out a bullet that had been locked between his fingers.

The seed flew into the eccentric's mouth and the eccentric subconsciously swallowed it. Lawsen laughed, "Stop!"

Two tentacles suddenly lit up on his forehead.

The eccentric's entire body suddenly trembled violently, and in the next moment, dozens of black lines shot out from his four limbs and chest and back. The black lines bounced all over the tunnel and got into the wall, fixing the eccentric in place. Under the light, it could be seen that these black lines were actually dark red branches. These branches were also covered with barbs. They came from the seed in the eccentric's body and broke through his muscles and bones. The barbs on those branches tightly hooked the eccentric's muscles, causing him to feel incomparably painful when he moved.

If he has pain nerves.

The eccentric stiffened his movements and was indeed unable to move. However, he was still smiling, as if he didn't feel the slightest bit of pain. He began to use his strength to move forward. As a result, the branches in his body were like sharp knives cutting through his muscles. The sounds of muscles tearing could be heard continuously in the tunnel. The blood sprayed out from the eccentric's body had already gathered into a pool of blood beneath his feet.

Seeing this, Lawsen's expression became a little unnatural. No one had ever been able to move under his Iron Thorn Vine's blockade, let alone break free from it. Lawsen knew exactly what that felt like. Even if the other party was able to break free from the blockade, his muscles and bones would be severely damaged irreversibly. Whether he would be able to move or not was unknown. Even if he could move, Lawsen didn't know what else to do with such a broken body.

But he soon found out.

The eccentric on the other side didn't seem to care about him at all. He laughed wildly and stepped forward, pulling his body out of the barbed branches bit by bit. When he broke free from the blockade of the branches, it was as if his back had been dug open by a sharp blade. Not only was the branches still fixed in midair covered with blood, but they were also covered in meat and even bone fragments.

'"Madman" Lawsen whispered.

The man suddenly waved his hands and threw out the sickle blade, but it was not used to attack Lawsen. Instead, he stabbed into the left and right walls behind Lawsen. Then he pulled hard, and his body, which was already unable to move freely, pounced towards Lawsen. In midair, strands of light lit up within the eccentric's body. Lawsen's expression changed. Obviously, the other party, Origin Energy, had gone berserk and self-destructed. He cursed inwardly and stretched out his right hand towards the eccentric. The vine sword in his hand scattered, and a few green vines shot towards the eccentric like snakes and wrapped around him. The green vine grew rapidly, and in the blink of an eye, it wrapped the eccentric from head to toe, forming a vine cocoon.

At this moment, the vine cocoon swelled up, and a violent aura sprayed out from the cracks in the green vine. Without hesitation, Lawsen turned around and flew away. As he swept out of the tunnel exit, an earth-shattering explosion came from behind. Orange Origin Energy flames sprayed out from the exit, almost sweeping behind him.

The fire lit up Lawsen's face and his expression became very ugly. He quickly searched his mind for the names of his enemies, only to discover that none of them matched the appearance of the eccentric just now. He was somewhat puzzled. He suddenly felt that he could not stay on this planet for long, so he could only cancel his plan to take a rest and vacation. Lawsen touched his backpack. Luckily, he was fine. Otherwise, if the suitcase filled with moon diamonds fell out, he would have worked so hard for nothing these past few years.

Since he had decided to leave, he did not stop. Just as he raised his foot, Lawsen suddenly raised his head.

The exit of the tunnel was a small square with street lights and tangled energy pipes on both sides. Currently, on the street lamps around the square, numerous figures of different shapes continuously emerged from the intersecting pipes. These figures all had the same posture. It could be seen that they were aliens from different planets. The only similarity was that they were all wrapped in thick and dark cloaks, and the lifeless smell on their bodies was exactly the same as that of the eccentric from earlier.

"Damn it, where exactly did you come from!" Lawsen couldn't help but shout. If he still couldn't see that the situation was unusual, then he had lived for so many years in vain.

More importantly, he was surrounded. There were more than thirty people here. If everyone had the skill of the eccentric in the tunnel and Origin Energy, then it would be enough to make Lawsen fight. Although he wasn't afraid, fighting such a war for no reason was depressing. Moreover, when these people started to fight, it was definitely the kind of life-threatening method. Lawsen did not know when he had provoked such a group of people.

Sure enough, no one answered Lawsen's question. These monsters were only gradually shrinking their encirclement, and the pressure they put on Lawsen was gradually increasing. Lawsen, of course, would not sit idly by and pull a pocket off his leather armor. When he spread out his hand, a grey-white plant seed appeared in his palm. The seeds are fluffy, a bit like dandelions on Earth.

At this moment, the eccentric jumped down from the street lamps and pipes. For a moment, Lawsen's head was filled with enemies.

Lawsen took a deep breath and spun around, blowing the gray seed out of his palm. As soon as these seeds left Lawsen's palm, they rapidly expanded. When they grew to the size of fists, the hard skin on their surfaces cracked open, revealing fruit the size of a thumb that was tightly clasped together inside. All of a sudden, these fruit grains shot out. Immediately, the splashed fruit grains spread throughout the space around Lawsen.

Then there was a series of explosions.

Within the gushing waves of fire, corpses that had been blasted apart continuously flew out. The entire plaza was flooded with flames and thick smoke. Within the thick smoke, Lawsen flew out and ran along a street leading to another place. Behind him, seven or eight eccentrics didn't get hit by the explosion. They burrowed out of the smoke and chased after Lawsen.

Lawsen looked at him and snorted. He reached into the pocket on the outside of his left leg and took out a dark red seed the size of a fist. Lawsen poured Origin Energy into the seed and threw it back after a moment. The seeds were still in mid-air, but they quickly grew. Sprouts from seeds alone are as thick as an adult's arm. It landed on the ground, but the thick buds drilled into the ground, dragging the seeds underground.

When the pursuers rushed over, the ground suddenly arched up and cracked, and the thick vines beneath them grew explosively. They whipped violently at the strange pursuers, and even a vine as thick as a giant tree grew out of it. The thickest vine constantly grew branches, and on the branches were brightly colored flower buds. However, these flower buds were so big that each of them was the size of a cannonball. When the buds blossom, the flowers on the thick vines are about half the size of the table. They shook off the pale red pollen from the stamens, causing a faint red cloud to fall from the air. The pursuers who inhaled the pollen began to fester, but the deadly thing was not the poisonous pollen, but the giant flowers.

At this moment, the stamens of the giant flower split open, forming a large mouth. The branches that supported them grew explosively, so the man-eating flowers pounced down on the pursuers like smelly sharks. A moment later, blood and limbs splashed all over the street.

Lawsen stopped, panting. Even if it was him, Lawsen would not be able to bear it even after he spawned the carnivorous plant Wild Man-eating Vines that grew on Blood Cloud Planet. Growing plants consumes Origin Energy, especially giant plants like man-eating vines. However, it wasn't a waste to finally get rid of all those eccentrics.

But at this moment, he heard a chuckle. The laughter was soft and came from above his head. Most importantly, unlike the meaningless laughter of those eccentric people, Lawsen could hear the smell of pride in the laughter.
