Edge of the Apocalypse -
Chapter 1250: Suspect
[Earth, Babylon.
In Ugarte Castle, Roddy was sitting in Horn's study. In the past, when Horn was around, this study always had a dignified and elegant flavor. But now that Roddy was sitting here, the study room was much more crowded. Apart from Roddy's five or three big bulks, it was also because of the mountains of documents piled up in front of his case. After Horn left, Roddy inherited the position of Patriarch. Until now, he was still unwilling to admit that Horn was dead. According to Roddy, as long as he didn't find any direct evidence of Horn's death, he would rather believe that his father had just lost contact with him.
Perhaps this thought would make him feel better.
On the other hand, the family's internal affairs gave him a headache. Now he knew why Horn spent at least one-third of his day in the study. Being the head of the family was indeed not a simple job. Roddy had to eat at least two meals a day in the study because he had never been good at dealing with these things, so he spent much more time in the study than his father.
At this moment, the study door opened and butler Helsing pushed a trolley into the room with Roddy's breakfast on it. He looked at the "small hills" on the table and smiled, "Patriarch, it's time for dinner."
Roddy pulled open a stack of papers and poked his head out, "Mr. Helsing, next time let them send the report by email. These things are piling up to the point where I can't sit."
"You were the one who asked them to submit the report in print last time," Helsing warned.
"Really? Is there such a thing?" Roddy rubbed his head shamelessly. "Then I must have forgotten. Anyway, I don't want to see these things again next time."
"I'll remember."
Roddy stood up and stretched. He twisted his neck and said, "It's a hard job, Patriarch. To be honest, I'd rather go to war on the front lines than sit in the study every day and get stuffy."
Helsing was accustomed to the young Patriarch's occasional rude remarks, but he still warned: "In public, Patriarch, don't say such things casually."
"Yes, yes, yes, for the sake of the family's image." Roddy spread out his hands and said, "Let me see what I have for breakfast today."
"If you're tired, I can help you, brother," said a voice at the door.
When Roddy heard this voice, his expression immediately sank. He raised his head and looked at a handsome man leaning against the door. Helsing quickly bowed, "Good morning, young master Hyderick."
It was Horn's youngest son.
"Hyderick, this isn't where you came from." Roddy said bluntly, "You think you should stay in the studio or go to the art salons for fun."
"Please, big brother." Hyderick spread out his hands and said, "I am also a member of Beskard. Now that there is no news of my father, the burden of the family will fall on you. I have the responsibility to share it with you, big brother."
"If you want to help, don't disgust me." Roddy said coldly, "You and I both know what you've done. If it weren't for my father reciting a little bit of kinship, I would have dealt with you long ago, you disgusting maggot. Scram right now, I wouldn't have had an appetite for breakfast if I saw you."
Even after giving Roddy such a merciless reprimand, Hyderick still smiled. He even bowed to Roddy and said, "It's my fault for making the Patriarch lose his appetite. I'm leaving now. But Roddy, do you really think you can manage this large family of Beskard? Don't overestimate yourself."
He left gracefully.
Roddy snorted and said to Helsing, "Keep an eye on this guy. Everywhere he goes every day, what he does, and who he contacts must be reported to me clearly. You bastard Hyderick, you can't rest assured in the end."
"I see, Patriarch."
Helsing put the breakfast down on the table and pushed the dining cart away. But a moment later, he knocked on the study door and said to Roddy, "Third Young Master is back."
"Bell? Quick, get him over here."
"I'm already here." Regis' father, Bale, Horn's third son, strode in. Behind him was a stranger wearing a cloak. Relations between the Federation and the nobles had deteriorated since the attack on the day of Mobit's speech. All the clans, including the three wealthy clans, had to prepare for a storm. Roddy moved Bell to the surface in order to divert some of the family's affairs and industries to the surface and avoid minimizing losses in the event of a violent conflict in Babylon.
Now that Bale was back, Roddy was happy. Although his family's third elder always had a cold expression on his face, there was no ambiguity in the way he handled things. Most importantly, he was very loyal to his family and Horn, sharing a lot of work for Roddy.
Looking at the stranger behind Bale, Roddy asked, "Who is this?"
After Helsing left, Bell did not hurry to introduce him, but he first pulled up the curtains of the study before nodding to the man. This person stretched out a hand from the cloak. Judging from the slender fingers, it should be a woman, and she was also a great beauty. However, when she lifted the cloak, Roddy was still shocked beyond words and cried out, "Why you?"
"Marshal Windsor Belo!"
This really surprised Roddy. The one standing in front of him was Sirius' Marshal. Windsor Belo smiled. Instead of wearing her usual Marshal uniform, she changed into a surface mercenary outfit. With a black lining and light brown leather boots and a revolver tied to her waist, she didn't know where her endless turret was hiding.
"What's going on?" Roddy looked at Bale and asked.
'"I also met Marshal Greed on my way back. She said that she wanted to see you, so she brought her back by the way. Specifically, you two can talk about it yourself. I'm a little tired, so I'll go back to my room and rest first. Goodbye."
After Bale left, Windsor Belo found a sofa and sat down on it. She crossed her legs and sighed, "I saw Mr. Horn last time, but I didn't expect to see him this time."
"I haven't seen any evidence of my father's death for a day. I wouldn't have imagined that someone like him would die so easily in an explosion." Roddy sat down on the opposite side and said, "It seems like Marshal is secretly returning this time."
"Indeed, because I don't want to alert anyone, such as our president." Said Windsor Belo, pointing.
Roddy frowned, "I'm stupid. I'm not as smart as my father. If Marshal has something to say, he might as well make it clear. That way, everyone will save time."
Windsor Belo put down her long legs and leaned forward, "Mr. Roddy, do you think there's anything strange about our Mr. President?" To be honest, the Iron Prison incident from last time and the recent quarrel with the nobles make me feel very strange. This doesn't seem like the style of Mobius from before. Perhaps, as the rumors have it, the real Mobbit is no longer here. Is this a fake now? "
"I'm not sure about that. After all, we don't have any evidence, and we don't know if Light Concealment Society did it on purpose. You know, there are enough headaches in the Federation now, so I'd rather believe that it's a rumor. It would be easier to deal with problems related to the Federation."
"I thought the same before, but something happened recently." Windsor Belo said in a low voice, "Our three frontline bases on the interstellar line were suddenly attacked by a fleet of Nelm. The enemy is well-versed in the arrangements of our army, and our outposts, perimeter lines and fire points are all empty." The people of Nelm evaded these arrangements with near-precise movements, resulting in the destruction of three of our Sirius bases and the deaths and injuries of our soldiers! "
Roddy took a deep breath and said, "How is that possible unless they get the deployment information for your front lines."
Windsor Belo did not say anything but looked at him calmly.
Only then did Roddy react and whispered, "Really? Someone leaked the information? This is highly confidential. Only the Federal Intelligence Service and the military headquarters have this information, right?"
"That's right, I can't believe it. However, one of the three bases that had just been destroyed was already equivalent to an abandoned base. It's just that I was lazy and didn't say anything in the military report I sent to the Federation. However, the people of Nelm still attacked the base. In other words, they believed that the base was equally important. That's why I suspect that intelligence was leaked from within the Federation. Otherwise, on what basis did the people of Nelm make such a judgment? Windsor Belo sat up straight and said, "This is also the reason for my secret return. I want to find out who did this." If I were to find out who leaked the information, I would definitely not let him off! "
She stretched her fingers and a series of soft tremors resounded in the study. Windsor Belo gritted her teeth and said, "He must be responsible for the 1,400 Sirius warriors who died in battle!"
Marshal Greed's murderous aura made Roddy's back turn cold. He asked, "Then who do you think is the most suspicious?"
"After the attack, there was an attack on the frontline. According to the information I have gathered, our president is in an unsatisfactory situation. Not only has he torn apart your families, he has also offended the old party. I am very curious about what power he has behind his actions." Windsor Belo narrowed her eyes and said, "The power he cultivated himself? I don't think it's possible. No matter how capable he is, he won't be able to cultivate a power capable of resisting the nobles or the old party. Then the only thing left is foreign aid."
Roddy suddenly stood up and said, "You mean, Mr. President, he …"
"Don't say it out loud." Windsor Belo raised a finger in front of her lips and said, "Don't say that answer until you have any evidence. After all, that answer is shocking. No matter what, say the first suspect. Unfortunately, I think the president is the most suspicious. So I will put him first in this investigation."
Roddy narrowed his eyes and said, "Marshal, you're playing with fire."
"Of course I know, but I want to know the truth. People also have the right to know the truth." Windsor Belo smiled charmingly. "If it wasn't for Morbit, it would have been fine. If he had done it, I would have stabbed him with another big hole in the Federation if he wanted to split it up."
"But doing so is not good for anyone."
Windsor Belo laughed, "Mr. Roddy, you don't look like a man who only thinks about the'benefits'. You should know that if Mobius did it, exposing him means more than anything else."
Roddy spread out his hands and said, "Well, I can't beat you. Since you've come to see me, it looks like I can do something about it."
"That's true, but I'm afraid this matter will drag Beskard into a disadvantageous position."
"Do you think our family is at ease now? A storm is coming, Marshal. It's the same whether you come early or late. It doesn't make any difference to me." Roddy's eyes shone brightly.
"Now I know a little why Beskard can stand in this circle and go up against the current. With Mr. Horn, Mr. Allen and Mr. Roddy, it's hard for the family not to be strong."
Roddy said, "Alan? Have you seen him? How is he?"
"He went to Agares."
"What?" Roddy shook his head and said, "How did he get to that kind of place!"
'"Agares is a furnace. Perhaps Alan can be reborn there. You probably don't know that the Emperor of Adahua Planet went to Planet Paradise. Only Agares can accommodate him now."
"Things are getting worse and worse." Roddy snorted, "Mobbit is responsible for all this!"
"Speak, Marshal. How do you need me to cooperate?"
Alan opened his eyes at dawn. He removed a hand from his chest and lifted the quilt. On the other side of the quilt was his sexy and beautiful secretary. The blonde secretary was still asleep. Her golden hair was scattered on the bed, strands of hair hanging over her face. She looked so serene and tranquil at the moment. Alan's breathing became a little heavier. He remembered that last night she was even more crazy than usual, which made his body hot again.
However, he still had more important things to do today. He didn't want to waste his strength on such things.
He walked to the bathroom.
Just as he opened the bathroom door, someone behind him shouted, "Let's take a shower together."
He turned around and his secretary, Adaline, stood naked by the side. Alan nodded. The two of them walked into the bathroom together. When the warm water sprayed on their bodies, they were entangled again. It was a new bodily disaster for Alan, and Adaline was exceptionally enthusiastic today. One had to know that a woman like her, who was usually cold and cold, now had a sharp contrast with her charming eyes. It was a fatal temptation for any man.
Everything will come naturally.
After Alan was satisfied with her, he silently closed his eyes and allowed the water to wash his body. Adaline was sticking to his back, and he could feel the heroic peaks on the woman's chest pressing against the muscles on his back.
"What's wrong with you?" "You're a little different from usual," Alan asked.
"Is there? Why don't I know?" Adaline giggled and bit the man's earwheel.
Alan was like a ferocious beast that had been awakened. He suddenly turned around and picked her up. Then, he leaned against the bathroom wall and took possession of this woman again. Adaline closed her eyes and enjoyed the pleasure brought to her by the man, but her hand that was wrapped around Alan's neck was quietly taking off a ring from her right hand. The moment Elena pressed the gem on the ring, a needle as thin as a cow's hair popped out from the front of the ring. The needle had a blue hue on it, so it was obviously not a good thing.
At this time, Alan began to sprint, and Adaline's body faithfully released her happiness. She hugged Alan tightly and used this opportunity to place the needle on the ring at the back of Alan's neck. But just as he moved his hand, Alan caught him by the wrist.
Adaline opened her eyes, only to find that Alan's eyes were ice-cold and did not fluctuate at all. She suddenly became cold. Alan pulled her hand in front of her and looked at the poisonous needle on the ring. "Who is your boss?" She said.
Adaline didn't seem to be afraid. She smiled and said, "You and I both know. I won't say anything."
"I do know." He stepped out of the woman's body and said, "But it really surprised me. You hid it so deeply that I almost thought you were an ordinary woman."
"I really want to be an ordinary woman, but I can't be an ordinary woman when my chess piece is placed next to you." "Then what are you waiting for? Kill me."
"No, I will let you go back."
"What?"
Alan took out the ring from her hand and threw it into the trash can. "As long as you can justify yourself and let your boss off the hook, I can pretend that nothing happened today."
Edarine suddenly laughed, "Oh my God, is this still our ruthless President Mobius? You can't be saying you're in love with me, right? Haha, hahahaha."
For some reason, she smiled and tears flowed out of her eyes.
Alan ignored her and changed his clothes before quietly leaving the room. He thought to himself, "It's a pity that I'm not Mobbit." I'm Alan, and damn it, I'm so fucking in love with you. Just as they walked out of the gate, a gunshot rang out from upstairs, causing the bodyguards beside them to immediately become nervous. Alan was stunned. He didn't turn around and said softly, "Go deal with it. Remember to keep quiet and bury the corpse."
The two bodyguards nodded and went into the building. Alan got on the flying car and left the house. All of this was seen by a pair of eyes across the road. The man walked down the street with a morning paper in his hand and a dog in his hand. As he walked, he whispered, "Mission failed, chess piece dead, target alive."
After a long time, someone in his headset said "hmm".
In the flying car, Alan's assistant handed him a tablet with a list of today's itineraries. The assistant said, "Oh, Mr. President, Mr. Roddy, the head of the Beskard family, wants to meet you today. He said that there are some family issues he wants to discuss with you."
"Roddy?" Alan said coldly, "This is really the sun rising from the west. Could it be that if he wants to get some'discount 'from me, he will have to pay the price?"
"Then what do you mean?"
"Set a time for me." After saying that, Alan stopped talking. He looked out of the window, but the woman who was laughing but tearing up sounded. Then he closed his eyes and removed the woman from his mind.
He won't love another person anymore.
